The garlic fries that came with it were perfectly fried and had just the right amount of garlic and salt. If you see the sign make sure you pullover!

It was filling and tasted great. The Yee sauce brought it all together. It took a little time to get the order but that should be expected for an independently run pop-up. Chef Green prepares efficiently, with his 3 year old son taking orders and his god-daughter putting orders out. That same week, I came on Friday and got the fish and fries for $20. It was a wait, but again, to be expected and well worth it! Fish was fresh, hot and crispy, seasoned perfectly. Garlic fries were also great! That Yee sauce is a must! Located by West Oakland BART station, so I was able to pick up food and hop back on BART back home. Not really anywhere to sit and eat other than a small bench so plan on taking it with you.

Hibachi Soul Plate w/ Garlic Noodles: Lots of flavor, that's for sure. Both the meats and the noodles seemed to have a lot of seasoning. The noodles seemed like dried instant ramen though, when I was hoping they'd be more like fresh lo mein noodles. So the texture was not as chewy or springy. Lots of meat on top. The chicken kinda reminded me of that stringy soft thigh meat you might get from a halal chicken & rice food cart; the most plentiful of the three meats. There were only 3 shrimp and they had the shell on, so when you removed the shell you basically removed most of the seasoning and it was a little bland. Might have been better if they cooked up deshelled and seasoned shrimp instead. The steak felt a bit more like stewed beef chunks, but some good seasoning.

If you're a fan of spice, there was a table full of bottles. Sure wish I had sprung for the lobster tail also, but it was another $20. I'll be looking out for Sir Hands at the next street faire. THE PANDEMIC!! HA! HA! HA!! Cue for uncontrolled cackling. Imagine my joy at finding this spot on the Door Dash app and seeing a Whole Rotisserie Chicken for the bargain price of $12. How could that be? Ah, I see. It's because this is really a Boston Market in disguise. They must buy the poultry in bulk and rebrand it for us 'cluckanados'... yes, that's a word I made up for people who linger under the heat lamps too long in the deli section of Safeway. Well, that was indeed what I ordered for Jamie W. and me, and quite conveniently, it arrived perfectly halved (photo: https://bit.ly/3srfE8V). We went for the roasted herb & garlic sauce because it struck as the least intrusive of the choices. And of course, we needed sides. After all, what's chicken without a couple of sides? Without missing a beat, we ordered the $5 Parmesan Corn, which tasted exactly the way it sounds (photo: https://bit.ly/2Q4dSO0), and the $4 Steamed Broccoli, which also tasted the way it sounded (photo: https://bit.ly/3x5B8eP). All together on a plate, it looked like a Swanson's TV dinner but like real food come to life. Indeed it hit the spot regardless of the Boston Market connection. I'm not sure if it's a new menu, or a shared kitchen concept. DoorDash is offering 20% off to try it, so I took the offer. I ordered a whole chicken, garlic bread, and Parmesan corn. First off, the chicken is hellya juicy and full of flavor. The flavor runs deep into the meat. As a whole chicken it's a little small, but it's no pigeon. The garlic bread is ok, should be a freebie. But the Parmesan Corn was a surprise! It's cheesy and spicy. You have to stir it up. So, this is good chicken and nice sides, and it's worth a try. (Covid-19 Review, delivery by DoorDash)

I had the roti, curry chicken with potatoes and butternut squash. The roti was a beautiful curry yellow color and was the perfect balance of richness without being oily. The curry chicken had the optimal balance of spices and flavors, and the meat fell off the bone. The butternut squash maintained its nutty flavor and the texture blended well with the chicken and roti. Honestly, the Caribbean food that I've eaten before in the Bay tasted like it was catered towards "tourists" or non-native Caribbean folks. This felt like it came from mom's kitchen and there is something so universally delicious about that. I'm so glad that we have an option for a different kind of Caribbean food in Oakland. I'm definitely coming back and bringing my husband with me, too! :)
