The worst collateral damage of moving out of San Francisco is needing to find a new dentist. I am truly devastated that due to moving to the Peninsula it is no longer convenient for me to see Dr. Boardman. She is hands-down the best dentist I have ever had. Not only was I a patient of hers for years, but my whole family goes to her as well. I miraculously made it 30+ years before ever having a cavity, and when I was scheduled to have my first filling I kind of freaked out. Dr. Boardman was very kind and understanding and explained the process to me to help me calm down and everything was fine. Dr. Boardman is the best, and I also want to give a special shout-out to Renata who manages the front desk and is a total gem. read more

I would not recommend this Dental practice. Although Rebecca has adequate technical skills, my direct experience with her practice over time is that there is a serious lack of transparency, accountability and effective and open communication for which I give examples. I first went to Rebecca to have some crown replacements and 2 veneers placed. Half way through completing my treatment plan I along with other pts were informed that she was no longer "in network" with Delta Dental and would expect full payment directly from pts. I immediately contacted her office manager who is also her husband.I have had many interactions with him.He comes off as arrogant, superior and is easily angered.I directly asked him how much more the charge would be without insurance. He was coy and evasive with his answers stating "just a little more"I should have pressed further for a clearer response. In fact,he sent me a bill which was double what she would charge with insurance,1600.00 instead of 800.00 at the time. They are now 2000.00 out of pocket. This showed a lack of transparency. Patients have a right to know exactly what their obligation will be and be able to make thoughtful choices There has been a pattern of this behavior with the manager.I recently pointed out another suspicious discrepancy in his communication. He responded with a hateful and retaliatory email.I let Rebecca know about this incident. She had no response or apology and no accountability. When a dentist takes an oath "To do no harm" I assume that applies to every employee in her practice as well. . Rebecca placed 2 veneers one of which came off.She spent around 15 minutes glueing it back on.She sent me a bill which I directly asked her about since it was placed by her originally. She became angry and defensive deflecting the fact that I was merely trying to clarify the charge that she goes.I ended up feeling unheard and intimidated by her anger. During pt appointments,Rebecca allows other staff to wander in the Rx room for non urgent issues while she at times is working with a drill. When I let her know it was unsettling and a distraction for me during my time,She simply said that is her way of doing business.Again she was unable to hear what I needed. If honesty, accountability, professionalism and open communication are also important then I would recommend going elsewhere. There is a plethora of dentists in San Francisco, many who accept insurance as partial payment. read more

Very beautiful office and helpful dentist who doesn't oversell. She's wonderfully responsive by email and wrote long explanation of what brush would be good for me. And she's not money driven. I have flawless teeth and just get cleanings. In contrast, other dentists push med needless treatments like laser sealing my gums! Hard to get in but worth the wait read more

I haven't been to the dentist in over two years. I HATE going to the dentist. Somehow, whenever I go to the dentist, I end up leaving with more guilt about brushing, flossing, etc., than I get from my Jewish mother. However, my appointment with Dr. Boardman this morning was... pretty pleasant! You know, minus the poking, prodding, and that awful tool they use to clean your teeth - but that's not Dr. Boardman's fault. She and her staff were all extremely friendly. So I'm glad to finally have a dentist to go to, and one that doesn't make me want to cry. read more

Rebecca Boardman is incredible!! I am currently working with her and her team to get gum grafts and braces to fix my teeth. She is so open to answer any questions and support me. As a matter of fact I had a question about cost, neccisity of some steps and she bent over backwards to be available to answer any questions. I haven't ever taken a step before this to get this important dental work done because I was scared and didn't trust my dentist, but Dr. Boardman changed that for me. Additionally, she has big time dental jobs for marginalized individuals in SF who suffer chronic homeless. She is so incredible!! read more

I was referred to Dr. Boardman from my general dentist who I have been seeing for 7 years. I've met with Dr. Boardman on 3 separate occasions. Parking isn't the best, so if you have an appointment arrive early and wait for a metered spot. Otherwise you can pay for parking in the local lots. When I first met with Dr. Boardman, I noticed she was exactly on time. I love that, especially since I made an effort to be on time, and she did the same. Late people are my pet peeve! Anyways, during the appointment she was friendly, and very informative about the procedure I needed. I actually teared up in the seat, because of my fear of dentists and she quickly put me at ease. She referred me to Dr. Yonemura who is a periodontist specialist. Whats great is my new dental "team" as I call it, communicate with each other about my progress which saves me trouble!! They email or call, one thing less I have to do in my day. All I do is show up and they take care of me. My husband recently had a visit here to get a adjustment on a faulty filling, and he was happy with the procedure. Hes rather particular about his dentists.. he has been "burned" a few times like me. He's not scared, he just has very little confidence in the last two dentists he has had. I am sure he has found his dental "match". read more

I adore everything about this entire office...all the people, art, and adorable garden! The staff are all friendly and my teeth cleaning with Nina was relaxing--an odd experience for the dental office! Dr. Boardman is knowledgeable and helpful, I highly recommend this office to anyone who wants high quality care and feel connected in the process. read more

1 star for the dentist and hygienist being nice. This is a review for their pricing and smug, obnoxious office manager with absolutely no idea how to communicate with customers. I got a bill from my insurance saying I owed over $250 for a routine check up! This is for x-rays, cleaning and an exam, all preventative and it's been over a year. Never in my life have I had to pay more than about $30-40 for this, and people I work with who have my same insurance plan did not have this issue. Instead of acknowledging that this was unusual and trying to help me, he grinned and said he found this to be completely normal for preventative care. This guy is smug and obnoxious, please know if you ever have issues with your insurance/unexpected fees he will be the one you have to deal with, and he will do nothing to help you and will talk down to you in the process. STAY AWAY FROM HERE. UPDATE: Spoke to my insurance. They are out of network which is why the costs were so high. They never let me know that they were out of network, I have a PPO plan and they simply said they accept it. Knowing how confusing insurance can be it would be a much better policy for them to explain to patients when they are out of network and what might come with that, but after meeting the manager it's clear why they wouldn't have a policy like that in place (this guy does NOT care). read more

Probably the best thing I can say about Dr. Boardman is what I say whenever I recommend her to someone new: she's worth shlepping well out of your way to see. I've lived in Oakland, SOMA, the Western Addition, Nob Hill and now the Sunset, working all the time in the Financial District, and never have I thought that it's not worth it to travel to see Dr. Boardman. (Not that it's that far! It's only Post and Divis!) Personable, decent, humane, honest*, punctual--what more do you need in a dentist, christ in anyone you do business with, or are friends with, or want at all affiliated with your life? * A necessary quality in dentists, sad to say. read more

I just came back from seeing Dr. Boardman and I actually enjoy seeing her. She is punctual, she listens, she is sensitive to my fear of pain, and she is quite pleasant...but more importantly, she is a good dentist. I needed to find someone closer to my home and I am so glad I took a chance and made an appointment. I have no regrets and it is hard to believe that she rarely makes you wait more than 5-10 minutes. Renatta at the front desk is helpful and pleasant. Even though I hate the pain associated with going to the dentist (my teeth are complicated). Dr. Boardman is helping me to realize that it does not always have to be a bad experience....she is a wonderful, kind and gentle spirit. She is an excellent dentist! read more

I went to see Dr. Boardman when I needed a crown re-cemented on an implant. She was remarkably friendly and professional, which put me right at ease, and quickly took care of my tooth. Though I hope you never need a prosthodontist, she seems to be a good choice if you do. Plus, where else will you hear Mumford & Sons while sitting in the dentist's chair? I was a fan. read more

Dr. Boardman repaired a lifetime of damage caused by a bad overbite. This required implants above and bridges below, along with realignment coordinated with an oral surgeon. She was always gentle, cheerful and straightforward; I look better now than I did fifty years ago. I use her for all my dental care and recommend her to everyone I know. read more

Dr. Boardman is a great dentist. I always refer others to her. The office as a whole, AWESOME!. I totally enjoy going back to her office for my cleaning. The other plus about Dr. Boardman is she refers you to other great specialist. Thanks for all the good you do for your patients. You are one of the best. read more

The best dentist in the Bay Area , hands down. Keeps my teeth healthy and in good shape. Great staff, fantastic new location. You can't go wrong going to Dr. Boardman! read more

Nice lady. Nice staff. But they have no nitros, and I suffered a LOT at this dentist. The crown I had took 4 appointments to place. That's right, FOUR. I SUFFERED at this dentist. Same crown had to be replaced last year, after about just 3 years - it was never properly placed/sealed and I had decay UNDER the crown. Sure, the crown was pretty, but it didn't last, and I almost lost the tooth. That tooth has ended up costing me more than it would have had I just had it pulled and replaced with an implant. To be fair though, the other work she did has held up OK. She is nice though, and I like her, I kinda feel bad about this review. But holy crap, I really suffered a LOT in her chair. read more

I was referred to Dr. Boardman by my co-workers several years ago when I worked in San Francisco. Although I now live and work in Oakland, I still travel to San Francisco twice a year to see Dr. Boardman. I have never before received better or more personalized dental care and I refuse to leave her service. Best dentist ever! read more

Dr. Boardman is AMAZING! She's funny, fast (in and out under my hour meter on Divisadero- huge plus), gentle and a great dentist. My husband and I just switched to her office and we are KICKING ourselves for not doing it earlier. Her waiting room is tastefully decorated, her staff is super sweet. Her homemade treats (caramels, chocolate turtles, etc.) are to DIE for! If she didn't find her calling as a super fun, chic dentist with a splash of pink hair, she'd be an amazing baker with a specialty dessert shop in a hip shopping district in SF... don't walk, run to the phone and make an appointment now! read more

Dr. Boardman is excellent! I've seen her for years, and my teeth are in great shape. She makes you feel comfortable and never shames you if you haven't been great about your teeth lately. I'm very happy with her service. Thanks, Dr. Boardman! read more

I went to Dr. Boardman for the first time last week. I found her from Yelp and selected her because of her great reviews and because the office is really close to my home. I was really nervous going there because, though I hate to admit it, I hadn't been to a dentist in 6 years. The office environment immediately helped me relax especially because the receptionist was so cheerful and personable. There were cute paintings done I think by children in the reception area and pretty orchids. Dr. Boardman has a very relaxed way about her which helped me feel at ease and she smiled and chit chatted with me as she reviewed my teeth with her assistant and began the cleaning. The room I was in for my cleaning was sun-filled and nicely decorated (boy did I focus on that mobile during the cleaning and scraping). There happened to be some hillbilly type music playing from the iPod in that room which was a funny music choice but it kind of took my mind off of the cleaning because it was so amusing, kind of Oh Brother Where Art Thou style. After the cleaning I went to another room for a full set of x-rays and the dental assistant was really nice and joked with me. I got a great review for my dental hygiene despite not having been to a dentist for so long and all-in-all the whole visit has changed my outlook on dentists. I won't be scared at all to go again six months from now. I highly recommend this dentist! read more

What can I say about Dr. Boardman and her practice that hasn't already been said?
