They decided not to install the new padding because the one that was under the existing carpet was quite new. This saved them all of the labor that would've been involved to remove the existing padding and to install the new padding... a significant part of the overall job in my estimation. I was refunded the cost of the new padding (even though I have to take their word for it because there wasn't a line item for the cost on the estimate), but they still charged me the full cost of labor. I called them to discuss this and was told they don't refund on labor. I don't think it's fair to make me pay for work that ended up not being done. I don't feel like I was treated fairly and my complaint wasn't taken seriously.

As for Duke as he was extremely helpful. On Thursday December 28, 2017 around noon, we returned to Empress Carpet Sales to purchase our 2nd rug. Duke not only remembered us as prior customers, he & his staff were once again knowledgeable & friendly. Pros: knowledgeable, friendly staff, great prices, lots of parking Cons: none, really! (Well, I guess they could offer free back massages). This place epitomizes customer service. Overall, our experience with the Empress Carpet Sales was positive. We were in & out within 30 minutes. Empress has a great selection of remnant carpets which can be edged as rugs. We have no complaints about Empress, and will return for all of our carpet needs. He showed me some options while another gentleman gave me a book to take home and told me to go online and try the flooring in my room online. I called on a Friday to inform them I would be off the following Saturday I was told to call Saturday morning and Bob would be able to help me. I called & Bob came over and took the measurements with no pre-appointment I was able to go back to the store and get some large sample boards and take them home and see how they looked in the lighting in my house awesome customer service by all the staff. Starting in August 24, 2023 Mike called me back with a price for the work I needed done. Him & his staff Sabrina & Bob were absolutely awesome. Fortunately & unfortunately for me when Sabrina & crew came by to lay the floor down my subflooring was rotted & when I asked about the kitchen I was told my dishwasher was placed under the subfloor & if the floor was put in & the dishwasher failed or needed to be replaced (which I was planning on) the floor, countertops & cabinets would have to be ripped out. Wait! What?! Dayum! Wasn't expecting that. Because of their honesty & integrity I later found out that The back room was improperly installed on a wooden deck that is rotting and sinking into the ground so now my back room has to be demolished and rebuilt! UGHH!! And to think all because I wanted a new floor. Soooooo! Now all these months later I'm still figuring out what needs to be remodeled & what actually can be remodeled. Not having fun yet. But I'm grateful for A-1 Carpets help with giving me a contractor's number & working with my crazy work schedule. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. 3-27-2022
