This was so disappointing. From the website and other reviews, it looks like the tour is supposed to take you inside buildings, feature interestingly dressed guides who get into character, are accompanied by a Medium, etc. We had none of that. Our tour just walked us up and down a stretch of Main Street by Stone Arch Bridge. We stayed outside the whole time (no creepy basements like we'd been promised) and didn't even make it over to the Mill Ruins on the other side of the river. The ghost hunting equipment was extremely chintzy, but that didn't bother me as much as just the way the tour felt surfacey and low-effort. The stories told were interesting, but there weren't that many of them and they were not very detailed or in-depth. Some tours I've been on, including a ghost tour, included 2-3x as many stories and facts, and they were also a lot more detailed. Our guide was very nice, fun, and did tell some interesting morbid history about NE Minneapolis, and I don't intend this review to reflect on them so I am not using their name. I'm sure they were just doing what the company tells them to do; the problem is with the company's design of the tour. My husband and I always do a ghost tour of some sort in each town we are in. We have been on many tours in different cities. The first thing that upset me about this was it was scheduled for 8pm. We arrived at 7:30 and they weren't even open. At 8pm they opened the door only to explain they had left me a message that the tour would be at 9pm instead of 8pm. I never received that message! So we find ourselves with an hour to kill until the tour starts. I don't think Mike and I ever really determined why it was haunted as there are only 2 true large areas to visit inside. We compared notes later and neither seemed to remember why. I have no doubt there is something there, being believers, but needed more history explained, and of course for them to have contacted me directly when the time changed. read more

The Real Ghost Tours was a hit again in 2020! We took the tour several years back when we hunted for ghosts in the basement. The tour this year included an outdoor route so we learned some new history. It was entertaining for sure. The kids absolutely loved the ghost hunting equipment. I highly recommend that add on feature. The tour wouldn't be the same without the equipment. While the tour wasn't jump out scary, some of the ghost stories left us a bit creeped out. read more

Super fun Friday night ghost tour! I was nervous before spending the evening with my teenagers at Real Ghost Tours with the safety of Minneapolis being in the headlines constantly but we had the best time! I felt totally safe, lots of people and well lit with easy street parking. The tour was so much fun. All outside and socially distanced with a cool speaker you carry around to help you hear the guide. We had so much fun being creeped out and using our (provided in tour) ghost hunting gear while getting out of the house yet still staying safe during the pandemic. Highly recommend! read more

Talking about restaurants I can do, but really getting to see a different side of the city - yes please! A couple friends and I decided this was something worth checking out. We started at Mac Industrial (happy hour till 7pm) then walked over to the event that started at 7. Get there a little before 7 so you can sign the waiver and get all settled in. (We were worried about getting our equipment but they have it available for everyone). The first 20 mins is a slide show introducing you into the world of what they do (ghost hunting) and the equipment. Then we did a tour of the building and learned the history (the tour guy was very entertaining so it was worth the information - just a little too long really). Once we were able to really go and hunt... the first room we went into wasn't that interesting but it was a great first starting point. Then we went into the basement - which is where it got fun!! We had activity in the hallway with the dowsing rods (I suggest it!) Third place we went was downstairs in the basement. This is the coolest of all. This is where we used the other equipment and had a chance to communicate with other ghosts (and for you guys who don't believe - don't judge me... I am a team player and got WAY into it!) Was it worth the visit - absolutely! I would do it again! If I would do it again I would go around 9pm because there is a chance that they might stay downstairs longer (and there isn't another tour after that.) Happy hunting!! :) read more

This was such an awesome unique thing to do just to mix up the Friday night plans. And being such fans of Ghost Adventures, we were pumped about finding our own paranormal experiences! The only reason I am not giving 5 stars, is because this was my first ghost tour - ever. So I have nothing to compare it to. We did the 9pm show and did have to wait for some people to show up before we could start the introduction. Zach was HYSTERICAL and was overflowing with awesome historical facts and stories. I did think that the intro ran on a little long (45 minutes or so). When we finally started the tour, we headed upstairs to what was the old mattress factory. Although it looked like an empty office space with some miscellaneous bits laying about, it was nonetheless inhabited by ghosts. We had the pleasure of interacting with "David" for a bit in one of the rooms. That was pretty cool. Next we went down to the basement of the store which is where the old brothel was to see what we could find. The Beau had a wild experience in the second hallway with his dowsing rods and EMF meter. I found him talking to a door - asking questions and getting some feedback it seemed. I was wondering around trying to have my own experience, but had no luck in finding anything too unique. Although the group had a wonderful session with a spirit in the back hallway. Overall, I thought the tour was super cool and really well done. They have all the proper ghost hunting equipment that they provide you. The one thing I would recommend is doing more of the history talk while you are in the places - it really brings it to life. The history alone was amazing and well worth it - but the paranormal activity was a bonus! read more

I am not giving our tour guide Paul 1 star - he was fantastic. The tour itself was terrible. It's supposed to be a ghost tour but it was primarily a history tour. When I purchased the tickets it said we went inside of buildings, which we didn't. I'm sure it's because of covid but there was no mention of that prior. They randomly had us use equipment in the most awkward spots, which would not have yielded results. It seemed very cheesy and forced at times. Do not recommend. read more

My family and I had a great time. The tour was held outside were we all could social distance. They had a great sound system so even when further apart we could still hear. Kids had fun playing with the ghost hunting equipment. Highly recommend! read more

Beautiful & safe walking tour! The company did a fantastic job with Covid social distancing for this ghost tour and I loved seeing the neighborhood. I had no idea how pretty this area of St. Anthony Main is. Worth it just for the scenery and I felt safe the whole time. Highly recommended! read more

Total crap! A huge waste of time and money. The Staff was uninformed and lame.

My husband and I went on this tour last night and honestly I was disappointed to the point of being livid. We moved here from Seattle, and much like the awesome underground tour in downtown Seattle, I was expecting some historical background and an organized, leisurely-paced walk through some amazing spots. However, this was quite the opposite. First of all, it was $25 a person for a 90-minute tour (the Seattle tour is $10 and you see over six blocks of tunnels) and the first 30 minutes were spent on a historical introduction. This consisted of a poorly-created slide show on a flat screen, while 80s music literally BLARED from the Aster Café next door where there was a wedding reception taking place. Rather than having one investigator and one historian, we were stuck with two "paranormal investigators." One of them was a medium, and I actually found her to be more credible and professional than the lead tour guide. There was a lot joking around, time wasting efforts to make sure everyone's paranormal "kits" were complete (a little surprised that for $25/person they couldn't check the freaking bags prior to the tour to ensure that all the equipment was present with charged batteries), and a fairly lengthy "potty break." We had used the restrooms prior to the tour, like normal functioning adults, but yet we had to wait 15 minutes for less considerate people to do their business. Then we went down to a basement hallway, where the lights were glaring, and proceeded to spend approx. 20 minutes sweating profusely and watching impatiently as our distracted guide tried to get her recording device to work, and couldn't seem to stay focused on one task at a time. Two flashlights were set up but no efforts were made to see if they could be turned on in response to questions, and then when a group of people had their K2 meters go off, our guide suddenly developed some semblance of focus and quickly decided this was a child named Tommy trying to communicate. I began to notice that the lights would light up on the meters when our guide would get closer to the group with her massive recording device, and then they would go off when she walked away. I am still amazed I am the only one that noticed this, since earlier when we were checking the functionality of equipment, the guides said we could test it by holding it up to cell phones and other devices to get it to light up. After hanging out in the stifling hallway evidently talking to "Tommy", we went into two other dark spaces and conducted EVP sessions and flashlight experiments. Maybe if we could have sat still for more than 5 minutes, or ceased one group's toilet jokes long enough to obtain some modicum of silence, I would have been more impressed. Instead we were being rushed through each space in order to make up for time wasted earlier, obviously sacrificing our experience in order to accommodate the second tour that night. By the time we even made it to the second space we had already burned up 1 hour of time just screwing around. The final space in the mattress factory was cool, but when the guide conducted an EVP session in the women's bathroom, she simply turned on the recording device for exactly one minute, during which the woman next to me rummaged through her purse noisily and then literally shined a flashlight in my face. I am not a skeptic, and I grew up with a father who is very sensitive to the spirit realm, so I was taught to be patient and respectful, and most of all, QUIET. The only thing worthwhile during the entire evening was discovering the Ghost Radar app, which may be a total hoax but is fun to play around with. Oh, and that was FREE. So if you want to spend $25 to see two basement hallways and one abandoned event space while accommodating the incompetence and disrespect of other group members, then this is perfect for you. If not, I would recommend a historical tour of the James J. Hill house instead. It's only $8, the guides actually know what they're talking about, and I recently caught an image that has been deemed paranormal by over three different local paranormal experts. (I have no idea if it is, but it is a pretty cool and unintentional picture of what looks like a butler's glove). Like I said, the medium in the group was wonderful and seemed to know her stuff. Maybe if she had led the tour rather than the over-caffeinated, disorganized woman we had, and they reduced the price to correlate fairly with the level of entertainment provided, I would have been more excited. With approx. 20 people to a group, you're essentially paying the rent for the space and not much else. If you are truly interested in a professional and legitimate paranormal experience, I would NOT recommend this tour. Download the app Ghost Radar and go do your own ghost hunt!! P.S. The parking was $5 so all in all we spent $55 to walk thru a basement with dowsing rods. Maybe the other reviewers here have the right idea by going to a bar first. read more

I don't think I've ever been ripped off so blatantly. Regardless of your beliefs in ghosts, the historical aspect of the tour put us to sleep. The guides were insincere and boring at best. If you need to spend $25, I'd recommend donating it to a worthy charity instead. read more

I had a truly amazing time doing this with a friend tonight. The history lesson alone is worth it, truth be told. THE ONLY reason I didn't give 5 stars instead of four is that it felt rushed. This really should be a 3 hour tour to have it done right. We didn't have time to use the divining rods or ask questions really. We went from room to room, got a bit of history and saw if the EMF readers went off. Don't get me wrong, it was incredible and I can't wait to do it again, but if they ever offer longer experiences I'd go for that 100%. read more

Unbelievably awesome! Love the history and the actual ghost hunting. Different than any other tour I've been on. Usually you bus or walk around the outside of the haunted locations. On this tour you actually get to walk through the locations and use their equipment free of charge. So great that they are adding overnight hunts!! read more

Okay, went to the tour. Thought it would be a good time but I was amazingly surprised by the goings on. We started the tour 20 minuets late, sitting around twiddling our thumbs, I figured we would then be given extra time because we paid for a 1.45 minuet tour, We were not. We FINALLY went out on the tour after sitting through a grueling introduction by a girl who seemed like this was the first time she had ever spoken to more than 2 people at a time. We started out with history which would have been my favorite part except The guide had no idea what she was talking about, I know for a fact that Pracna was not open during prohibition ( it says on Pracna's website). The female guide had to be interrupted by the Male guide because she was so off on the dates the buildings were built, then he took over the rest of the history which was much better and more accurate, but to our dismay he handed the floor back over to the female guide during the "investigation". The investigation went on and we went up to a room where they let us into investigate, we investigated for a moment when a very large man walked up and talked to the male guide, I overheard him say "you are not supposed to be in here, this is not your building", then the male guide said " Okay we will go downstairs, to our other location" this was after 10 minuets in this room they were bragging about. We went down to the basement of their store where the female guide seemed really excited, I got excited thinking this would be where they sell it! Started off cool, but then the lights came on and a man went into one of the locked rooms, made a lot of noise and kept the light on. the male guide said we will get the lights off ASAP, but that time never came and me and my date decided we had enough. We went back upstairs and walked out. TERRIBLE TOUR. Some good history but the staff is crazy. The only good feature was the Male guide, but he was just a damn good salesman. Zach and Katie are phenomenal guides and we had hair-raising experiences during the 90 minute tour that will have me looking over my shoulder for weeks to come. I can't wait to go back. OMG...what an a-hole this owner is! I just called to inquire about the Groupon I received as a gift, to find out the dates the tour was available. First...no hello when the connection went through. All I heard was a man talking to someone about the weather. Finally I said "helloooo". I got, "yeah, this is ghost tours". I proceeded to ask if this was ghost tours and he said, "yeah, this is real ghost tours, how can I help you.". I began ask my question; over him continuing to talk to someone he was with. He then goes, "we have extended that Groupon to May 12th because it was so popular." For anything with confirmations over the phone, I asked for his name so I could indicate on my Groupon of whom I was speaking to that confirmed the extension date, because he sounded like a goofball. He said his name was Bill. I asked if I could have a last name. He rudely replied "I am Bill (I can't even spell it because he said it so fast and arrogant like -but it was long and maybe German), followed by "I am the owner, and what is your name?". I told him, I just wanted a name to tag with the confirmation because...where he then interrupted me to say "because you procrastinated and didn't use the Groupon and you are thrilled that we extended this great event for you correct?" I just thought...this is the owner!? I said, "Hey Bill, do you really talk to your customers like this?" He replied, "Yes I really do so what is your problem?". I was just dumbfounded by this dork. Obviously overcome by the fortune of good business lately due to great shows like Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters, etc...this "OWNER" never learned appropriate business ethics. I said, "wow, good luck to you Bill" and before hanging up he replied.."yeah, and good luck to you too...." I hung up and did not hear the ending. WOW. I am sure this place will not offer anything real and is just pure entertainment and when the fizzle dies down on ghost hunting, I wish Bill the best in his career at probably bagging groceries somewhere at Rainbow or Festival. Great way to talk to your paying customers BILL (probably not even your real name). So sad for Minneapolis to have a creep like this that doesn't know business ethics and etiquette.
