They just keep missing the boat:
The parking lot is set up where there is no spot close the the building. The prices are high. They layout of the store makes it hard to have a quick stop over, even if you are picking up a couple of items.
The hot food section is poor and has deteriorated. Instead of making food to order (or kind of fresh), the management must have watched the movie, The Founder, because everything now is pre-made and dried out when you get there. They will not make a fresh order if you ask. No offence, but who wants to eat potato wedges and chicken wings that's been sitting out for more than 15 minutes? At times, I bet their hot food has been sitting there for more than an hour under the heat lamp. It seems that they always miss the boat. Even their bathroom, which is nice that they offer one, is on the second floor, meaning that if you need to use the facilities that becomes inconvenient too.
Other criticisms:
- Often short of cashiers so the line-ups are long.
- The store's AC could be higher on cold days. Good luck waiting in those long line-ups with frozen foods.
- Price matching takes forever, because their prices are typically higher than the competition. Get rid of price-matching.
- The popular salads are often sold-out early because they didn't make enough. Good luck on picking up a Greek Salad past 3pm.
- They cheaped-out on the ingredients on their sushi rolls too, so the taste is off. EX) Instead of using avocado on their California rolls, they now use cucumber. They will even cheap-out on the salad dressing packets that are supposed to come with their pre-made salads.
- Odd pricing. For example, we hadn't had snow in Georgetown since early February 2018, but they are still trying to sell 10 KG bags of road salt for $4 in April. First of all, that price is high even when that item is in demand. Who's going to spend that in April with no snow on the horizon? You can get a 20 Kg bag at most places for $6. They also keep their road-salt on skits outside, exposed to the rain and snow.
- They keep their Windsor water softener salt outdoors, exposed to the rain and snow. Stupid.
- Another odd price: they have a deal if you get two bags of the Ms Vickey's chips you'll save some money, but they don't tell you that it has to be the same flavour. So if you buy a bag of Original and a bag of the Black Pepper & Lime, you will NOT be be given the discount, even though you are buying two of the same product. They'll say "Buy two and save" with a big display featuring all their flavours side by side, but they leave out that detail. You will not notice that you have been robbed of the discount until you see the receipt later.
- They seem to rarely get new inventory for their toy department. Hence, they still have tons of Frozen stuff and they haven't got new Sesame Street toys in what seems like a year or so.
- Even though their prices are higher than No Frills and Food Basics, their produce seems to be the same quality.
- For the size of the store, the selection and variety could be better (even when compared to Loblaws). EX) They don't carry Kraft powered cheddar cheese, and many popular veggie products.
I will give them this, they have a good selection of veggie burgers if you don't mind paying the cost and they actually carry Sesame Street toys, but again, they could use some new inventory. Also, their store is usually clean and you don't need coins to get a cart. read more
