For those who are not living in Brighton but love Real Ale this ramble is a scorcher.
Start at the Evening Star 55-56 Surrey Street. This place is spot on and is very near the train station. Turn left out of the pub and left again and aim down Gloucester rd. This leads one to the North Laines. It is possible then to find the next pub.
The Basket makers must be a little gold mine. It is always full and the atmosphere is very friendly. The next pub is in view.
The Eagle has a bit of an identity crisis. It doesn't know whether its gay, young hip or a classic pub! But it is still a pleasure to drink here. The next watering hole is just a walk around the corner at the bottom of Trafalgar street.
The Great Eastern looks like it hasn't seen a touch of fresh paint in decades and the regulars are a very mixed bunch. Yet again it has a welcoming feel. Heading back towards the train station is another venue.
The Lord Nelson is a Harvey's classic venue. The feel of the place is basic but ok. The regulars a bit older than any of the pubs mentioned.
Then I recommend ending the jaunt back at the Evening Star!
Enjoy. read more
