People are difficult to deal with, and these folks have to deal with many people who are not feeling well, who are often navigating a tangle of insurance and stressed out, and who are probably snapping at the CSR because of it. I always give the benefit of the doubt with customer service folks, especially in healthcare - it is NOT an easy job! And in my experience, I most often get what I give as far as how I am treated. As for my medical experiences, I've been an Acton Medical patient for almost my entire life, and I have had very solid experiences with them throughout - especially of late. Dr. Natalie Cohen has developed a solid and trusting doctor-patient relationship with me, making meaningful notes about our conversations so she can follow up next time, never making me feel like she is in a rush, asking about and making suggestions for the health of my whole self, and truly listening and making me feel like she is honestly invested in my well being. She's a rare breed these days when many other doctors have made me feel like they just needed to check off the boxes and get into the next exam room.

Well that all changed today when my father convinced me to go for a three week bout of nearly every illness one can get. I was able to book an appointment for the same hour, and the front desk was super flexible when I was running late. Once I arrived, I was taken in within 2 mins and brought to a clean, private space. Aidan was amazing and truly took the time listen, ask follow-up questions, and let me know what to expect for the remainder of the visit. He is a gem and his personality helped make me feel comfortable and taken care of. Dr. Gold took the time to go through my history, every single noted symptom as well as some I hadn't even mentioned. He took his time with the physical exam, even double checking and making sure not to miss anything. They ran a rapid strep, flu, and Covid test as well as a chest x-ray on-site, with the results given within 10 minutes. My only regret is waiting as long as I did to be seen because, unfortunately, there was nothing they could treat me for. I will not hesitate to return in the future.

Instead, I opted to go to THE DOCTOR IS IN! on Park Avenue-- he doesn't take insurance-- instead you pay $40 and get treated. THIS is the healthcare we should be pushing for in the US. His office was clean and welcoming-- a big screen tv, magazines, etc. I waited about three minutes and then was seen, treated, diagnosed and given a prescription and was on my way in under 15 minutes. BAM-- no insurance needed. Take out the middle man and bring healthcare back to the days when doctors ran their own little offices. This is a great place-- and even with my mandated insurance I will still opt to pay my own way and come here.

I had tried to go to CVS's Minute Clinic but they aren't allowed to give physicals in MA (and made me wait for 2 hours). I came here as my last resort, driving by at 4:45 after work to see that it opened at 5:30 After getting a quick dinner, I walked into the clinic at 5:30 to find that he had already started seeing patients. I was in an out by 6:00 with a letter for my employer and only down $60! In the time between when I walked in and when I left, the doctor probably saw about 4 or 5 patients and was still very friendly, kind, and helpful to me, taking his time in asking questions and listening to my answers.

Most surprisingly was the medical assistant who yelled profanities at me while taking my X-Ray. He would scream and overall came off as very pissed off and aggressive. (Manhandled & basically physically moved me) I didn't care for this as my primary objective was to figure out why my lungs were experiencing pain. I do not know what this person would do, and I felt to a certain extent - abused by him. Medical professionals are also supposed to make you feel welcomed and supported through your health issues. However, this was not shown at all through my visit. The woman, who eventually came in to the room didn't seem happy at all. In conclusion, I hated this experience. The people here seem to think that they can behave however they want. There's no point in pursuing a medical career if you can't be fucking respectful. Mind you, I'm not even an adult and this is how they treat people.
