I wasn't sure what to expect but it was so fun, that I attended a second time in the same month. The event is held in their greenhouse, which makes the perfect backdrop for this event. You play three rounds of bingo with three cards each round, and each game has one plant prize, so one winner. There's a Plant Bar serving cocktails and popcorn, plus a coffee shop on site with small bites available during the event. Jessica, the events coordinator, is friendly and fun. After all games are played you have time to shop. I went during January and there wasn't an abundance of plants and flowers, but I'm looking forward to spring to check out the greenhouse when it is blooming.

I found Randy's Lakeview Nursery and Stone in Lee's Summit. It's a beautiful facility near Lake Jacomo, It is a brown wooden barn and cute. In the back there's piles of different rocks, different sizes. They allowed me to hand pick what I needed, and I paid for it at the cash register. They also have a plant area and beautiful metal work. Landscaping rocks are their specialty. They also deliver locally, which is good to know, not many places do. There's no where in Independence that does this sort of service and have landscaping rocks available. I selected Missouri River Pebbles and will return when I need more.

It was another 4 days after the 3rd attempt that I finally got a response by email. The response stated, in what I feel was a condescending manner, that she could not do what I was asking for in any way shape or form (the flowers are all out of season and impossible to get) but that she would make me something completely different for an oddly high price. REALLY? If that is what you call customer service I am amazed you have any customers at all. No thanks.

I am appalled that the bouquet lasted 2 days and looks like gerber daisies (not an expensive flower). I know my family spent $100 on this bouquet and I feel it was not even worth half of what they spent--including the delivery fee. The bouquet literally had 11 daisies. Horrible, horrible experience.

If you can't find what you're looking for - which for some reason happens me a lot - the staff is happy to order a copy for you. They're book club friendly. Every time I go into the shop, even if I think I know exactly what I want, every staff member is so knowledgeable and helpful that I always leave with more ideas on my TBR! The little shop is located in the tiny shopping center off Brush Creek Parkway, which means it can be hard to find parking if the center is petty busy--but it's worth it! They have great sections for adult reads, but they also have great sections for kids and teens--you'll find what you're looking for even if you're not sure what that is. Over the holidays, I even asked for kids and teens recommendations from the staff which they were happy to give! As noted earlier, their shop isn't huge, but full of possibilities. And if at the end of your visit, you really still want that book they don't have in stock, they'll order it for you for pick up or shipping--it's a simple process and they're more than happy to help people find their perfect next read. They may not be a book superstore, but they create value in their suggestions, recommendations, and their tiny book reviews and recs on the shelves (even in the teens and kids sections, written by kids and teens!). So glad to have found this place early on in my time in KC, and so happy that they're still doing their thing in their amazing bookshop!
