Photo Systems Unlimited is a great place to go if you want to buy an old camera. They are one of…read morethe few places in town where you can still pick up an old medium format Bronica or Mamiya, or an old manual 35mm Nikon or Canon. So if you're still old school about cameras, check out the selection available here. If you have recently upgraded or gone digital, PSU also sells cameras and other equipment on consignment, but they are honest with you about what will and will not sell. On a recent trip, they told me to try selling my equipment on Craigslist first. They also sell a limited amount of darkroom equipment, including some enlargers and lenses, but they also have paper and chemicals. It's a tiny little store, but they do have all of the basics. This is also the only place I know of in town that will fix old cameras. They fixed my old Nikon twice, very quickly and cheaply, and helped me avoid sending it to Nikon, where it would have cost a fortune and taken about eight weeks, so if you have a camera will some minor malfunctions, they can fix it for you. I believe you have to take it in on Tuesdays when the repair guy is there. They also offer an array of visual services, including making DVDs from videotape, so if you have something unusual like that you need doing, they may be able to help.

As a professional photographer, I often rent camera lenses and camera bodies. It's the best and…read moreleast expensive way to try out new equipment before purchasing it. I'm really glad to have this place so close to home. They also ship equipment for those who are out of town, but I love the convenience of being able to pick up and drop off locally. The staff is friendly, and you can reserve your equipment online or over the phone. You can pick your equipment up after 3 PM the day before and it's due before noon the day after. My only complaints are the parking and no straps for the camera bodies. The parking situation is a bummer, but you can usually find somewhere to park in the street while you run in and grab your equipment as long as you don't stay there long. When I rented a camera body a couple weeks ago, they didn't include a camera strap which is just asking me to drop it. I primarily shoot with my 70-200mm, and that thing is just too heavy to constantly carry in my hand and worry about dropping. They need to include neck straps with the body rentals.

I'm honored to be in the company of the musicians Jeff has worked with, and love the quality of sound he acheives on all his projects. I had yet to meet Jeff in person, but had heard a beautiful song he had written about his mom, and felt this was the person I'd like to work with. From the moment we spoke on the phone to the first time I sent Jeff my songs, he treated me and my music with honor and respect. Magically he knew exactly the type of sound I was looking for, and he put his heart, soul and expertise into it, to get it to that place. Jeff has a great ear and sense of humor, which made the whole process of working together a pleasure. I wasn't sure if I could figure out the technical aspects of the Virtual Studio, but Jeff made it easy and walked me through it with so much patience. It's a wonderful way to work, especially if you can't be in Nashville. I highly recommend it! Martha Reich Singer Songwriter/Recording Artist New CD "BRAVE BIRD".
