I found Arlene Fairfield while searching for someone to help me reassess my work life and figure…read moreout how to make adjustments to spend more time doing things that I love, and make more income. My meetings with Arlene have been fun and productive... even as we dug pretty deeply to unearth habits of mine that were undermining my goals. Our sessions were weekly at first. The first six or eight were pretty intense... not threateningly so but in a "the challenge is on" kind of way. Over the course of those I found myself heading in new directions so encouraging that it made sense to reduce our meetings to a month or more in between. I was seeing huge improvements in my time management. My productivity was growing and the "noise" of distractions was receding to the point that I could look at my career with more clarity and start to make informed changes. At this point we've had perhaps a dozen sessions together. We're not done with the process, but I'm clearly going through a transformation that is exciting and very promising, so we've put it on pause for a bit to see how things play out. It's been a long time since I was so excited about my career and eager to work each day, and I've never felt so productive on a sustained basis. My meetings with Arlene have been the single key ingredient to making it happen. I can't compare her to others--I've never before worked with a personal coach--but I can say that I am a pretty exacting person in terms of whom I work with, especially when the stakes are so great and so personal. And I'm seriously overeducated, so my standards can be annoyingly high. :) Arlene is astute, professional, and a terrific communicator. She's also friendly and a fundamentally good person, with a worldview that is much more "lift all boats" than "zero sum game". I'm very grateful to have found her, and grateful that she is putting her skills to helping other people as well. We'll all be the better off for it.

Over the course of the four months that we worked together, she helped me to identify my existing strengths, target job areas that would better suite me and market myself in a way I did not know that I was capable of. Arlene's approach is very personalized to her client's situation and needs. In the first session, we established a specific goal relating to my job situation. She helped me work towards this goal and adapted her approach with me as my needs evolved and priorities shifted. Arlene is a very intentional listener and quite talented in the area of empowering others. After each session, Arlene writes up a summary of the information covered. This includes topics discussed, realizations made and things to focus on before our next meeting. I thought that this was especially helpful because it made my progress tangible and was encouraging to keep moving forwards. I would highly recommend Arlene to someone looking to shift directions in their career or simply find more fulfillment in their professional life!
