I have never, ever, in my life, written a bad review. But my experience at Arctic Chiropractic was…read moreso bad, so terrible, that I feel compelled to write a review to help others. This review is not a reflection on the care I received, but rather the predatory practices aimed at getting patients to pay more than they should. Unfortunately in my case, I believe I have now spent about $500 more than I should have. My first visit alone for an adjustment cost MORE THAN $500. Here's what happened: I went in for an initial consult with the chiropractor. As an initial appt, I understand there is likely a new patient fee. Once I told them I had insurance (but still had a deductible), they were happy to take my insurance information, run it to see what my deductible was, then run down the 'numbers' after our meeting and adjustment. I was shown a printed piece of paper from a Word document which showed the costs for each service. They couldn't give me a number on the adjustments, for reasons I'm still unsure. I knew the medical massage would cost $220, and although that seems high, I was explained that that's normal in Alaska. So when I went to pay, I was asked for over $1300. This was to pay for upcoming appointments I hadn't even scheduled. My deductible is $1250 and they know this. I've never ever in my life been asked to pay so much upfront. It seemed odd, but since I know many people don't pay their bills, I thought it was a way for them to ensure payment. When I asked for a printout of what this would cover, I wasn't provided anything. In fact, they acted shocked that I would even ask such a question. They made me feel (while I was in excrutiating hip/back pain) like I was crazy to even ask for some sort of printout of estimated costs. So in my pain, I went ahead and paid the amount upfront. I just logged in yesterday to check my EOB (explanation of benefits). And guess what, I was charged OVER $500 for my first visit. The office visit alone was $270, then I was hit with two adjustments in one session and another $59 for traction (he turned on the machine and it moved for 10 seconds). I was never told this would cost so much. I was never provided any accurate information on these fees. I am still in shock that I paid over $500 of my own money for one session. I've seen chiropractors in Alaska in the past, and it never cost more than $130 for one session. Next time I will pay out of pocket or get an itemized bill before services are rendered. In this case, I was not told how much things would cost, and now am not sure I can dispute any of the charges since they already have my money. I cannot and will not ever recommend Arctic Chiropractic to anyone. Take your money and run!

Dr. Bang, "Sometimes…read moretwo individuals just rub each other the wrong way."?? Apparently my appearance was what rubbed you the wrong way since I barely had a chance to speak as I was so caught off guard. And in no stretch of the imagination is that an acceptable reason for a doctor/business to provide their patient/customer with such appalling service. The right thing for me was to take my business to Dr. Freeman at Live Well Chiropractic where I was always treated.... well.
