Hubs had been wanting to give this place a try for a while, so we decided to give this place a try…read more We ordered the following: Banana lumpia- I thought this wasn't bad. It was a bit sticky but ok. Hubs said he remembered this in the past when Chinese restaurants did this. He thought it was a little sweet for his taste, but it was delicious in a nostalgic way. Lumpia - This tasted like a Chinese vegetarian egg roll. I'm used to lumpias being thin and small but this was more like an egg roll. It was still pretty good. Lechon with sausages and bean vermicelli with vegetables. Hubs said the lechon was tasty. This is similar to Chinese roast pig. He said that the sausages had a sweet and salty umami essence and that it was also delicious. The bean vermicelli with vegetables were a nice high fiber filler which we're familiar with. Bitter melon with pork belly and gravy on rice. We thought the bitter melon was a little undercooked for our taste. But, when reheated, it was delicious. The pork belly with gravy was mixed nicely with the rice. The spare ribs and potatoes were also pretty good. Hubs said that he liked it and thought it was a nice mix with the rice. This place is a hole in the wall. There was only one table in there which someone was eating when we were there. We ended up eating in the car. Service was friendly . Will return to try other items on the menu.

Dinuguan, here is absolutely the best and I have eaten a lot of it in my lifetime, I buy the large size container and over steamed rice with a little vinegar it's FANTASTIC, it isn't for everyone, I am sure, because it is pork blood dish and people tend to think it will taste strange, but it is a such a savory dish, I literally have it twice a month. Again, this store has a lot of spices and sauces you can buy and I have to urge you to go by and try the hot plate food, don't be shy to try new stuff. Start with the pancit and lumpia, two favorites of mine and probably will be for you too!

At first glance I was excited about this store and some of the items I was able to find…read more However...they over charged me by making a mistake at the deli counter. I did not notice until after I left the store. When calling the store I was met with the worst customer service I've ever encountered. I was put on hold and disconnected. I had to explain the story several times and transfered to several people. I was on hold over 20 minutes . No one would give their name. One woman when asked "Who am I speaking too?" Would only say "Customer service ". She eventually transferred me to a manager who was so rude I don't think I can even explain it clearly enough in this . First he tried to say "HOW DO YOU KNOW THE PRICE WAS WRONG?!" in a very agressive tone. He then put me back on hold to check the price then came back and blamed me for ringing it wrong myself because we went to self check out. When I explained I could not have rang in it twice as he claimed because there were 3 items in one deli container...I swiped it once and all 3 rang up individually with that swip...If I would have double swipped they all would have shown being rang in twice but that's not what happened. The item I was double charged for (which there were 2 of) rang up two times but at twice the price they should have been. For some reason he just wanted to blame me for the mistake. So I got annoyed by this and asked "Why is it so important to you to blame me.? Why can't you just except your employee tagged it wrong and refund me my money? " He insisted because it was my fault and I should be more careful! He did refund the money (after I said I would contact my credit card company) but insisted on continuing to say it was my fault. I asked his name and his response was " I'm not going to tell you!" .i don't care if they had the only food available in the stae...I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN! He is rude and a discusting excuse as a human being. This was the Gourmet Glatt 1700 Madison Ave, Lakewood, NJ (732)961-1700

I'm honestly not sure what was more impressive to me; the soups or the sandwiches. I guess I'll start with their namesake, the soup. First time I came here I tried the French onion, since what better 'simple' soup to judge a soup place by, right? Excellent, right out of the gate - utterly bursting with caramelized onion flavor, and just a hint of brandy, I believe? I later came back and tried the Thai coconut and "thanksgiving dinner" soups, with each one seriously cramming a ton of flavor into each bite. Never thought I'd be blown away by soup, of all things, but here we are. The sandwiches are just as good as the soups were, and are priced really fairly for the quality and portion you get. Most of their sandwiches are made on their homemade "pesto bread", which may be the moistest, softest bread I've had in years. If you can't decide, they seem to run specials frequently, where you can get a sandwich & cup of soup. The only 'negative' I can think of is that since sandwiches are made to order, it can take ~10-15 mins to get sandwiches and the like, but this isn't a McDonalds, so I feel like that's expected. Besides, your patience is greatly rewarded. Skip the chain food; there's some really inspired, friendly folks here cranking out some of the best stuff in town. Well worth a visit, imo!

It is a horrible shame when a brand new business opens up only to get attacked by local competitors…read moreposting fake, denigrating reviews to squash the competition. I know first hand that some of the scuzzy/starving pizza parlors in the area like to partake is this type of bashing, so much so that they actually caused another pizza parlor (a good one) to close. Only after logging in to Yelp to post a great (deserved) review on this place did I notice the online attack. Again, a complete shame, and if it were my business, I would immediately seek council and sue in federal court for denigration, intentional harm, interference with economic advantage and countless other torts. Anyway, back to the review. I will keep it short and sweet. All of my followers know that I have no issue leaving a scathing review when deserved, and they also know that as a SOBER diner, my taste buds are always spot on. Trust me - This place absolutely Rocks!! 1) I walked in and was immediately greeted by very friendly staff. Owner was in the back (staying on top of things) NOT abusing his employees, like one of the sham posters mentioned. 2) Everything in the trays 'looked' fantastic at first sight, and woulnd up being even BETTER than it looked! Pastrami was absolutely delicious. Owner suggested a 'cyclone' sandwich and it was totally fantastic. Melts in your mouth pastrami. 3) Hot dog was delicious. So were the beans (unreal) and the macaroni sides. 4) Bowtie paste - perfect 5) Homestyle potatoes = perfect 6) NY pickles absolutely delicious and crisp!!! 7) Garlic and Blue cheese fries! Delicious EVERYTHING was tender and delicious. Everything. As the town of Jackson is over crowded with pizza parlors that all leave their doors wide open and all taste the same, it is about time WE got a high quality place to grab some authentic NY style food. I posted a few images of our meals - do yourself a favor and try this place. You will remember my review after your fist bite! To the owners: Hang in there and DONT CHANGE ANYTHING! Your restaurant/deli is exactly what Jackson needs. Ignore the fake reviews from competitors. I guarantee your deli is going to be a major hit as more people find out about you. I'm telling everyone I know. Good luck and GREAT Job!
