We have been going to Mulberry Street for over 10 years for our Christmas Eve antipasto items, not to mention during the year for other shopping. This year we are so disappointed by the way they cut the cold cuts especially the prosicutto. It was so thick that it was inedible and tough. The other items were sliced erratically and also thick. There was no care taken in cutting. Also, the "gentleman" who took our order was horrible. It was as if we were bothering him and he also told us things that contradicted what we had experienced in the past. He definetly shouldn't be in the service industry even if he is an owner. We moved to the area a few months ago and, wanting to support a local business, I'd stop in a few times a week for deli meat. That's all I ever bought there and it was fine but I'm done--the place is not clean. Last time I walked in a different door than normal and was hit in the face with the smell. I walked back out and will not be back. The prepared food doesn't look fresh at all. The vodka sauce they sell has margarine in it and a bunch of crap. Really? Margarine?? Takes some real stones to charge a premium for that. Like others have commented the service is not friendly at all. I really wanted to like this place. It's a shame. read more

Didn't even fill the container, got the butts of the salad, very little chicken, all croutons, salad dress horrible definitely from bottle. Visiting NJ from another state. Whenever we come here we always have two musts, sandwiches and Italian pastries. There was a miscommunication about the sandwiches, which I kind of figured was going to happen. The sandwiches weren't dressed with the lettuce, oil and vinegar, so it was just bread and cold cuts which made the sandwiches dry. So can't say much about them. Absolutely terrible, nonexistent service! Went in today, Sunday, a little after 2 p.m. to buy some brasciole for my Sunday pasta. My husband and I walk in, and see a customer at the empty register, waiting to be checked out. We head on over to the butcher section, and there's a man slicing meat behind the counter. We are waiting for some acknowledgement, nothing. Not even a hello or be right with you. Ok. We know he saw us and heard us, but still nothing. A few minutes go by, TWO other female employees see us, walk by us, still nothing. A few more minutes go by, I go to just check out the hot food section. Lady behind the counter: not one word. Not even a glance in my direction. Ok... I go back to my husband thinking he is surely being helped at this point... nope. The man was still slicing the meat and didn't care to help us. No problem. We walk out the door empty handed and the customer was still waiting to be checked out. We ended up getting a DELICIOUS brasciole from Stop & Shop and it was literally melt in your mouth. Walked in, nice mom and pop Italian deli/market. I ordered a bologna sub during my softball tournament break. When I got back to the field, excited to eat my sandwich... first bite I take, I had to pull plastic from my mouth. Thinking it was just a one off, I take another bite... same result. After taking off the bread to investigate, it looks like the employee didn't pull back or cut the plastic wrapper far enough. One of the worst experiences of my life. This was my first time ordering from Mulberry Street. I was visiting the area to host a training session with my co-workers and forgot to order a meal for lunch. I called, spoke to the caterer and explained that I had never ordered a group meal from them. She asked questions, discussed common meal combinations, and suggested the perfect meal for our group. The platters arrived on time, were set up by their staff, and they even offered the serving utensils. Small details really stood out. For instance, the platters were in sturdy containers and the food was arranged with care. Visually, everything looked fantastic! The most enjoyable experience was the food! I can't say enough about it! The food was so great, I immediately called the caterer back...while I was still eating... to tell her how great everything was! They catered an even for me on 8/8/21. Leading up to the event Michael was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable and helped me place my order with ease. I called a couple of days ahead to confirm my order and he went over everything with me and everything was on point. The food was delivered on time and hot and ready to eat. The young man that delivered the food was efficient and such a nice and friendly person. Couldn't have been more pleased with the service and quality of food. Also, the price was extremely reasonable. My quests were so impressed with the quality of the food and the compliments were many. I had the worst experience at Mulberry St yesterday with the owners son ( I guess he's in charge now) went in for some type of food basket for my neighbor who lost his wife... well first the guy was totally rude saying he's busy with 2 other customers..( not my problem) he also talked terrible to his employees... instead of suggesting food he says I should consider a gift card so he can pick out his own food?!?! Really.. oh sorry for your loss here's a gift card for some food.... who does that?! Nobody! I bit my tongue and graciously left with a " thanks but no thanks... I will never go back there! He made me feel like I was wasting his time Because it wasn't a big order! We moved to Brick from North Jersey where we have lots of amazing caterers and Italian food. So happy we found Mulberry St to cater our daughter's baby shower with 65 guests. Mary and Michael were terrific right from the start of planning....We decided on brunch with some lunch additions and everything tasted great! Many guests came up to me at the shower and raved about the food, especially the penne and the potatoes....what's this secret potato recipe, Michael??? Btw, the harvest salad was beautifully presented and better than any typical salad we've had at other events in the past...(Great suggestion by Mary). And, Michael, you were right...the French Toast was SO delicious and yet, many women passed it up to enjoy other dishes...I'm still glad we ordered it because I ended up having FOUR yummy pieces! Even returning the racks and beverage dispensers was an enjoyable experience. Lil was so sweet and my husband and I had a delightful and pretty lengthy 'visit' with Lil and Michael. We love living in this area and now we have peace of mind and a smile on our faces about our Mulberry Street decision.....it was the first and surely won't be the last! This review is for customer service. Ive been a customer at Mulberry St for years & every time i go, i order the same exact wrap. The Garlic Roast beef. I get to Mulberry St at 3:00 on the dot, & ask for the wrap. The man then said - "i hope we have fried onions." I stated, "they never have the onions readily available the guys in the back make them fresh." The man who was helping me yelled into the back & asked if the fryer was still on & the guy in the back said "no". So he turned to me and said "SORRY I CANT MAKE THIS, THE FRYER IS NOT ON AND THE GUYS ALL WENT HOME." I looked around and noticed i was ONE of the TWO customers that were in the store at that time. They weren't busy.. I also noticed 4 guys in the back working. I guess it was too much of an inconvenience to turn the knob for the fryer on OR throw a few onions dipped in flour into a frying pan.. Absolutely rediculous. Mulberry St get some new staff or people whom actually will do what they are getting paid for. read more

This is the second time that I have catered from here. The first time, the lady I spoke with was so kind and helpful. This go around I speak with Gina first who then puts me on hold and Michael picks up. He makes it seem like I am bothering him but I give him my catering order - almost $1,000 worth. I call back a few days before the event and he is super nice and we go over the food. I call him back two days before the event with minor, minor changes - he makes it seem like I am bothering him again. The day of the event, the delivery is made by a very nice young man. I give him an extra tip on top of the 6 minute delivery fee over $30 dollars. The young man gives me my total and it is almost $115 more then I was quoted - yes I added chaffing dishes, yes I added some extra sauce for the mushy pasta and yes I added cheese for the pasta. I call today to speak with Michael and again I am a bother to him. I bring back the chaffing dishes and it is clearly Michael at the register - do you think he thanks me for my business - nope - just tells the girl to give me back my deposit. Sorry for bothering you with my business but this is the last time that I do business with you. Food was ok - Pasta was so soft and mushy it was sad. Over $150 for mush when I told him I wanted it al dente. Try some customer service classes - be nice when you own a business, especially when your customers are nice to you! read more

Mulberry Street catered our cocktail hour for 120 person wedding celebration. Michael and Cheryl were amazing to work with... from choosing the best food menu with great seafood and landlubber options, to organizing the tents, tables and chairs and providing the servers and bartenders. Michael came back the next day to make sure everything worked out well. Our guests had an amazing time; the food was great; there servers and bartenders were super fun and pleasant to work with and we were able to relax and enjoy the evening knowing that everything was taken care of. This place has changed so much and not for the best. I'm giving it 2 stars ONLY because the owner/manager was nice. The food was horrible. My review...the italian cookies were absolutely awful. Probably the worst tasting Italian cookies we ever had. They tasted old and of poor quality. They didn't melt in your mouth with every bite and explode with flavor. My husband working in Italian deli knows which product is good and which one is cheap. The owner gave me a tub of ricotta and told me it was the best one and it's what he uses well my husband told me that it was not top of the line at all. That being said it's hard foe me to believe my locatelli cheese is of good quality. The mozzarella (mutz) was just ok. Also, while I was waiting they had samples out of the of Italian crackers I tried the red pepper one and honestly it was disgusting I wanted I tried the red pepper one and honestly it horrible I didn't even want to swallow it. Now, I will say they have a very nice array of olive oils and organic vinegars. I haven't tried any of them but I would be interested in trying them. Other than checking out the oils and vinegars I'm not interested in purchasing anything from Mulberry Street unless it's somehow changes. read more

First of all let me start off by saying this place has a very old school feel to it. I recently moved from NY and was looking to grab a sandwich on my way to the park with my kids. I ordered an Italian combo and the person who took my order was very friendly. When the sandwich was done he handed it to me and it had a price of $13.95.... FOURTEEN DOLLARS FOR A 9" Italian combo that was NOTHING out of the ordinary. Not a lot of meat which is fine, it's the bread that makes a sandwich anyway, but 14$? Where's that high-quality Mulberry Street experience that every customer once received? Things have changed drastically since the times I starting shopping at Mulberry. The food quality has, in my eyes, diminished to the point that it simply is not worth the ever-increasing cost. Except for one grouch that didn't seem to belong behind the counter in the first place, I found the service to be exceptional in the deli, bakery, and especially the butcher department. It is just a shame that the food quality has not kept up with the cost. In the general area, there are enough places for me to find the right balance of quality and cost, and I am afraid Mulberry Street of Brick is not one of them. read more
