Fried catfish, baked spaghetti, potato, salad, and peas and carrots.

I loved the ambiance of the place. Great and casual atmosphere to chill and have a nice dining experience. I received terrific customer service. The lady (behind the bar) was all smiles and super nice. Another lady was sitting off to the side manning down the orders, she was very nice also. She checked on the guests coming through the door and made sure their orders were placed. On to the food. The price was reasonable. The fish was a little small but it was delicious. The baked spaghetti was also tasty. I could've eaten more of that. I wasn't too fond of the potato salad or the peas/carrots. It wasn't very flavorful. But that's minor. Overall my experience was awesome and I will return to try more items on the menu.

This place is AMAZING! The food comes in generous portions and every bite is delicious! I will absolutely be coming back to this location. Both the blackened grilled fish and fried fish were well-cooked and perfectly seasoned. I loved that the fried fish came with a savory cream sauce on top. The shrimp pasta was my favorite with plenty of sauce and shrimp. This place does not skimp on the shrimp! We also ordered gumbo which was delicious as well. The gumbo has tons of crab claws, shrimp, and sausage. The flavor was deep and rich, and we loved it! Everything we ordered was perfect. Not to mention, our waiter was attentive, friendly, thoughtful and prompt!

I had been to the when it was on St. Claude I believe. But this was my first time at this location. The restaurant is very spacious. I was here on Saturday afternoon around 3:30 or 4:00 and it wasn't crowded at all. I was with a small group. Our server was outstanding. He was efficient, got all of our orders correct, came back to check on us a few times and promptly brought what we requested. The food was good but maybe a tad bit heavy on the salt. I ordered the shrimp pasta which came with three chicken wings. The wings were perfect but the shrimp pasta had maybe 2 shakes too many of seasoning. The flavor was delicious regardless. The meal came with a salad also. The menu is not too big which may be good as it helps people make a decision. Bigger menus can be overwhelming. There were no desserts on the menu so I'm not sure if they offer any. There was parking out front on the street for free but it is very limited. One person in our party had to park around the corner on a residential street. I would return if I didn't see a line outside because the food was really tasty and they give you a lot for the price.

Ordered DoorDash from HDK on the cred of the many positive Yelp reviews and it didn't disappoint. Tried two dishes, as I couldn't settle on one. The fried fish and shrimp were outstanding! Loved the dipping sauce and the seafood was cooked perfectly. The fish fillet was about an inch thick and so moist and flaky. Yum! Not sure I loved the fries with the crawdat sauce - they were a little salty. This ff dish kinda gives poutine vibes with the gravy. The Superdome was also tasty. I liked the fried fish better than the blackened, but the mashed potatoes and corn and sauce draped over the fish was rich and delicious. This fish was much thinner and a little chewy. I'd love a hybrid of Superdome using the thicker fried fish. Bread pudding was my dessert, warm and dripping in caramel/brown sugar sauce. I had to restrain myself from eating the whole thing! This was a perfect way to start my visit to the Big Easy.

Unfortunately the restaurant was closed as the entire street had a power outage, but the chef very kindly came out to greet us and let us know what was going on and offered us some complimentary cold water for our trouble. I made sure that my group instead came back on our way out, and everyone raved about their meals and said perhaps it was best that we saved it for last! My Seafood Extravaganza came with a THICK piece of blackened fish, a generous topping of grilled shrimp, and excellently cooked fries topped with that crawfish sauce. My friends loved the grits and dark meat fried chicken in their meals. We all dug in so fast I'm sad to say I didn't take any photos to share! The chef came out once again to chat with us, and it's clear he really appreciates every guest. Heard Dat Kitchen offers the best of both soul food and Creole food under one roof with a good helping of Southern hospitality, and it's absolutely worth a trip or ordering in from the more touristy parts of the city. As our rideshare drivers testified, this is the real deal! Keep in mind it only has counter seating and outdoor picnic tables in a pretty small no-frills spot; I think the service and food definitely deserves to be displayed in a full-service restaurant if that is what the chef ever decides to do.

Everything from the catfish and jambalaya to the fried chicken and gumbo was packed with the flavors and spices that can only be found in New Orleans, and every one of us was blown away! The only downsides were they only have takeout for lunch, the food took a while to prepare (well with the wait!), and now my friends' bar for soul food is impossibly high .

When you walk in you're greeted and told to get a menu and place your order at the counter. They will bring your food to your table. You pick any available table. That seems to be a thing in NOLA. The place plays contemporary jazz in the background so nice ambiance. They also have TV screens playing sports. I ordered the fried chicken, cabbage and jambalaya. Everything is WELL seasoned! I love seasoned food but this was too much for me. If it was a bit less seasoned I would have enjoyed it more. My wife got the shrimp platter with corn and mac & cheese. She felt her food was good and seasoned well. She wants to go back for lunch. To be fair I'm not a soul food person. It's not my first choice of food since I ate a lot of this food at church.
