My father, who would help my aunt with a lot of household stuff passed away 5 years ago. So, my cousin reached out to me asking what to do. I found Family Tree Service searching Google. Called Travis and explained what we needed done. He got back to me quickly with a very reasonable estimate and took care of the problem within a few hours of the call same-day. My Cousin also had questions about some other tree issues in the yard. Travis made some recommendations as to how to proceed and offered to help if needed. My cousin said Travis could not have been more pleasant to work with. If my aunt needs tree/lawncare help in the future, Travis and Family Tree Service will definitely be my go to.

Very nice doing business with arborist Travis from Family Tree Services! Sent photos of what I…read moreneeded and he provided a quote range, which was on point when he got there to see in person. I was hoping to remove limb above neighbors side of fence to clear some space over their yard, as well as trim the tree away from the house. Once he got there Travis was kind enough to explain that cutting the limb away would likely hollow that bit out and that I'd probably get the desired result by simply trimming away the branches growing downwards along there. He also mentioned that he could do that and if I wanted more done could always do that after I saw it and decide from there. Very pleased with the results, both of clearing a nice patch away from neighbors side and of trimming back away from the house. Will be using him again!

He said he never made it out...He said because we were in S MPLS, he doesn't service that area. I reminded him, we are not in South but NE MPLS. He claimed he also does not serve NE, or any part of Minneapolis. His website states otherwise. I let him know it'd be nice to have been informed of this when we first spoke several weeks ago. I was very happy with them. They replaced almost all my windows and doors, plus they did my siding…read more Everything was done on time. I found that everything was cleaned up. I bought a metal detector thing on Amazon and I never really used it. SMA Exteriors redid my roof in 2024 after a hail storm. In 2025 I discovered water leaking into my…read moregarage where the roof and gutter meet the wall. Turns out they never installed a kickout flashing/bump out in that spot. When I called, they came back and added it for free, but told me there "wasn't one there before" when they did the roof. To me that admits they knew it should have been there. Kickout flashing costs cents and is basic code/best practice to prevent water intrusion. Because it was missing, water ran behind the siding and rotted the wall sheathing. I had to tear off drywall in the garage and found the damage. When I asked SMA to help, they said it's not covered under warranty and isn't their fault. Their reasoning was the damage is "old" because there was never flashing there originally. My response: if the job was done correctly in 2024, we wouldn't be debating old vs new damage. I didn't open the wall until a year after their work, and the sheeting was rotten underneath. I spoke with owner Steve. He said, "we can agree to disagree" and that they aren't willing to help. When I asked why his crews or project manager missed this, he said they notice and add kickouts now, but "must not have known to add them before." Meanwhile my garage has water damage from work they did, and they aren't concerned with helping a past client. To make it worse, this house was purchased from a friend. SMA tried to use that against me, implying they would've helped the previous owner but not me because "my name isn't on it." That's a terrible way to stand behind your work. I've read their responses to other bad reviews - lots of talk about how long they've been in business and how they "treat everyone right." Yet multiple people are saying the same thing: issues get denied and not fixed. Stuff happens in construction. The difference between a good company and a bad one is whether they fix mistakes they caused. The most ironic part: this is a company that will argue with insurance that damage isn't "old" when it benefits them, but the moment a homeowner questions them, suddenly everything is "old damage." Can't have it both ways. Plenty of honest roofers in the area who will actually fix their mistakes instead of walking away. Look elsewhere
