Hickey's Tree & Firewood Service

Hickey's Tree & Firewood Service

(9 reviews)

I just had my first experience with Hickey's Tree Service today. I had a huge tree that came down,…read moreknocked down my fence, and extended most of its length into a neighbor's backyard. I called Hickey's Tree Service on the recommendation of a friend, and in less than an hour, Gene Hickey was here. He checked out the job and gave us a quote which we accepted. Today, he and one of his crew came to remove the tree from the neighbors yard. They did it within 30 minutes. And it was a very large pine tree. Then there was another small tree that had fallen on the fence as well, and they removed it without me even knowing it. Then, when I went out to give him his check, he said that he and his guy were concerned about a dead cherry tree close to my fence which would threaten my daughter's car if it fell down. We had discussed that the day before, but we weren't ready to afford to have that tree taken down as well. Gene said that the job went so well, that he would take that tree down for free. Who in the world does anything for free these days? Talk about Honorable! Talk about someone I would totally trust! Hickey's Tree Service has my business for as long as I have trees, and I have probably 25 or more on my own property, plus all my neighbors are very timber-wealthy as well. I will be recommending him to all of my neighbors and friends, but I wanted to recommend him to the general public also. Gene Hickey is a good guy, One you can trust with your business!

Hello, my name is Eric and I work for Mr. Hickey. I am posting this review because the person who…read moreset up this yelp and our socials listed incorrect hours of operation they are no longer part of the team and it did not leave us with the credentials to login and change it so until we can create new pages I'm having to be creative about getting the correct information to the public. During the week we are usually back and forth between jobs in the field and loading/unloading at the woodyard. Tree service jobs are estimated and scheduled by Mr. Hickey himself who can be reached using the phone number listed here. If it's firewood you're looking for we have a huge selection of different hardwoods (oak, hickory, maple, cherry, ash, just to name a few) they have all been seasoned and split into the best sizes for burning in whatever fireplace or bbq pit you may have. You can find at least one of us at the woodyard eager to help you during the following days & hours ; Monday-Thursday 12 PM to 4 PM Friday & Saturday 10 AM - 5 PM If you ever come by the word yard during business hours with a question or are looking to buy firewood and can't find anyone please call the number listed and someone will be dispatched to you ASAP. On behalf of Gene Hickey, and the whole hickey tree service crew we look forward to doing business with you! Have a blessed day.

Three Peas in a Pod Produce - The receipt that shows this wasn't a fever dream.

Buyer Beware: Not only are the prices higher than most places in the area they use a scale that…read moreweighs items heavier than they are. Yesterday was my first time there. I was excited to see they had Georgia Wild shrimp in 1lb, 2lbs, ad 5lbs bags. I got a 2lb bag. When I got home, the bag looked light, so I weighed it on my food scale and postal scale, and both showed 1.15 lbs. Thinking that I was given a 1lb bag by mistake, I went back to the store to let them know. The lady told me that my scale was faulty and needed to be recalibrated. I informed her I weighed it on TWO different scales. Then showed her a photo of the shrimp on my scale at 1.15lbs . She then put them back on her scale at the register and showed me 1.96 lbs (which still isn't 2). The gentleman said to give me a few more to get it to 2 lbs. She looked me in the eye and said, "Honey, a lb of shrimp is 21 shrimp. I guarantee it's 40, and you have 2 lbs. Recalibrate your scales." Some guy in the background yelled out, "Use tare." They never tried to test or "recalibrate" their scale. Unfortunately life has taught me that arguing with scammers is moot and I already wasted too much time with these people so I just left feeling salty and cheated. However, on the way home I figured I must have been overcharged on the other produce since that's the scale they used for everything. When I got home, I weighed all the produce and saw that NOTHING was equal to weight it said on my receipt. As for my scales and weighing know-how, I run an online business and use the postage scale daily. My numbers always match the numbers at UPS and USPS so I know my scales are right. I also recalibrated them and got the same thing. However I am a science based professional so to test I weighed a 1lb bag lentils from my pantry and jar honey I bought from them both items were correct. I've attached photos of all of this. This experience was so disappointing and I will never return.

I am not sure what the bad reviews are all about. This place is great. What you need to remember if…read moreyou are coming in off season is that "it is off season." I have never had a problem with anything purchased here, and frankly, I would rather pay a local farmer for produce and eggs whenever I can. I much prefer this rather than the trucked-in stuff at large chain markets. Large chain markets have their place, but small community stores like this build community spirit and help our local farmers.

First, the owner of this company went door to door in our "no soliciting" neighborhood and told…read morepeople they were going to be fined by the city for having too many trees. He doesn't work for the city. He is not endorsed by the city. After thereby tricking my unwell father (and some neighbors who also later regretted it) into hiring him, this Safeco guy showed up with an uncontrollable level of energy and dilated pupils. The guys who came with him that first time kept saying, "Man, you're crazy." They didn't return when he came back. He left tree parts on top of our air conditioning unit for several days in the middle of summer, even after the guys who were with him told him not to do it. He cut down the healthiest trees and cut off the branches of the tallest ones, thereby destabilizing them. He continued cutting healthy trees even after we told him to stop. Our back yard has become swamp-y and overrun by poison sumac. The foundation of our house is compromised. There's a drainage ditch that runs next to our house, so it should be obvious to anyone who knows about trees and soil what would happen. Some of the neighbors who were bamboozled ended up replanting the trees he cut down. Since he left the unhealthiest trees (and did everything he could to destabilize them) one almost crushed our house during the arctic blast. If you want a trustworthy tree service who isn't going to make you fear for your personal safety, I recommend Zamora.
