My favorite of the local nurseries. There is a wide selection of indoor and outdoor plants. The service at Wiegand's has always been excellent. They have a lot of employees that have been there for years and are very knowledgeable. I typically buy a lot of my garden vegetables, fruit trees, and berry bushes from Wiegand's and I think the price is fair for the quality of the plants. I highly recommend Wiegand's. I moved in my new home 4 blocks from this garden center in 1992 and have bought my Spring annuals for Easter, May and Summer flowers for planting in ground and patio pots. The prices vary from the other local farmers nearby, but I can say that Ray Wiegand's nursery Guarantees their selection of flowers, plants, trees, shrubs and all items sold. Their plants are grown healthy and colorful as well as the hanging baskets and already grown in pots. The staff of family or friends who are working in many areas of the greenhouse or outside are always helpful and knowledgeable and ready to assist your questions about buying and planting plus offer guidance to problem plants that may be an issue with growing. The store also sells many statues, gardening supplies, outdoor furniture with monthly seasonal decorations for your home! I have been also very pleased with the quality and style made when purchasing in November a Memorial Christmas grave blanket for the cemetery. Holiday shopping before Christmas is the busiest time to see and enjoy their colorful and sparkling display of lights, trees, wreaths, and much more! This is a lovely nursery and has a massive selection of various plants, trees. One can tell that their plants are taken care of and look healthy. Looking at other competitors the sizes of their products are smaller and are not as healthy looking. It appears that this nursery has sales or discounts that are advertised at the signs near each display. I also think their is a rewards program so if you plan on coming back it may save some extra money. If you are looking to add beautiful plants to your garden, yard this is the spot. I thought it was kind of rude. I asked for a sample of the mulch and they said you have to go inside so I go inside ask for a sample of mulch. They said we don't have samples of mulch, just what's in the little container they have so can I go get a sample in a bag out there? No OK really take a picture of it. I honestly would never have thought that I would've wanted to go to a nursery. But, times have changed. This is something that is actually fun to do on a Saturday afternoon. One thing I didn't realize is that, in addition to an amazing variety of pretty, flowering plants, they also have a very impressive array of herbs and peppers that you can grow yourself. Knowing me, I will probably kill most of them, but I am looking forward to having some fun trying to grow them. One thing I have always appreciated about Wiegand's is how well-maintained everything is. Everything here looks alive and happy. Being here gives me a sense of inner peace. And, I get to make things look a little prettier at home, and maybe even start a new hobby: growing my own herbs and peppers. read more

This place is a wonderful plant utopia. Variety is astounding. Of course you have the usual anywhere else plants. There are other nurseries as well but for diversity and knowledgeable staff to help you on your journey of gardening, including help with designing. My new plant this year is the popcorn plant. Fragrant leaves and flowers that look like, popcorn. I have heard people say there pricey. Here's my take on that, you get quality product that lasts ,for me and perennials I have had for several years. read more

I hired a handyman to spread topsoil into my lawn. He got the topsoil from Weigand's on May 13 because they are less than 1 mile away. As we were shoveling it, we saw WAY-WAY-WAY too many sticks/twigs, pieces of plastic, and stones. We scooped a shovel full into a box and showed it to their manager on duty at the time. Not only did they not provide any sort of partial refund for this SUPPOSEDLY screened topsoil, they didn't even seem to care at the poor quality. If you want quality top soil without lots of junk in it, do not go to Ray Wiegand's on Romeo Plank to get it. read more

Always a good selection. Can be a little pricey but the quality is worth it. Have had great luck with porch pots that usually last all summer with minimal care/maintenance. If you can try to go during the week when there are likely to be less crowds so you have a little more room to browse there vast selection. read more

Awful customer service. We purchased 2 trees and had them planted. The stakes and tethers were saggy. I asked for them to come back out and redo the stakes. The redo was no better than the first sloppy job. I called and was brushed off saying you get one restake in a year's time. I told them the restake was still crooked and sloppy, was told "it's on you now." If you are looking for crooked trees, this is your place to shop and have them plant for you....if not, shop elsewhere, as I will be doing in the future. I never thought about writing a review for Ray Wiegand's Nursery until today and it's a pleasure to do so. We've been long time customers for 25 years and we're fortunate that it's right down the road from us. We had some spare time and decided to check out the Christmas trees and decor since we have never been here at this time of year. The wow factor when we stepped inside was a full 5 stars. Your are greeted by beautifully decorated Christmas trees surrounded by displays of the items you need to make your tree look exactly like the ones on display. Each display is in it's own little area to differentiate each style of decorating. There are wall displays, table settings, floor and table decor and even ceiling decor. Venturing further, you come upon a multitude of Christmas trees, porch trees, porch pots, door wreaths, grave blankets.... So much to look at. There's a tree for every size home from tall stately trees to tiny little ones. Something to fit any size room or porch. The day we came, they had free cider and donuts at a table where we were able to help ourselves as we browsed and took in the beauty of Christmas. As we walked around, I couldn't help but stop and take in the wonderful life size nativity scene that greets you as you're walking into the area that holds all of the greenery and trees. I noticed there was plenty of help if we needed it but we were content with browsing. Besides everything was well labeled with prices and information. With all of the glitter that the holiday season brings, there was also plenty of help to keep the store looking well kept. I noticed the customer assistance associates walking around and talking to customers and keeping the floor free of the glitter and sparkly, shiny, fun adornments that accompany many colorful items at this time of year. The line of people seemed to be moving along nicely and it appeared they had a nice system of moving the customer line along. It was indeed a Christmas wonderland to partake in all they had to offer. The other seasons of the year offer just as much fun and variety as the Christmas season does. The spring and summer plants and flowers and arrangements and merchandise are aplenty. It's definitely worth visiting and it's awesome to see how they can change the look of the nursery with each turn of our wonderful seasons. Ray Wiegand's has knowledgeable staff that can answer any question or concern you may have and we've asked our share of questions in the spring and summer when it came time for planting ideas or problem solving. If you are looking for that certain plant, tree, flower, unique yard decoration etc, this is the place to visit. read more

Great plant selection! Keeps my garden looking beautiful every year! My daughter loves to come see the butterfly garden every summer and I love walking through that little path with the pond next to it! Beautiful! We love that young man who works in the butterfly garden, too! He helped with suggesting tons of plants for us to add to our garden to attract more beautiful butterflies! One of the ladies that works in there too seems to be a bit hard on him, someone tell him he's doing a good job!!!! read more

I have one word to describe Ray Wiegand's Nursery; OVERPRICED. I understand stores want to make a profit. I get it. However, how does this place justify their overpriced Chinese merchandise? I am willing to pay more money for handcrafted items that are made by local artisans. But I have heartburn when confronted with mass-produced items made for next to nothing by Chinese sweatshop workers marked up 1000%. My wife and I went to Wiegand's today, and as I walked around I noticed many of the items are made of plastic! Plastic Christmas ornaments made for pennies overseas have $20-$50 price tags on them! The more I walked around and took everything in, the more I was aware of how much garish, plastic ornamentation I was being confronted with. One display in the greenhouse area included a side table holding rectangular ceramic trays with white tree silhouettes across them and a blue glaze in the background. They were approximately 14"X6". I picked one up, turned it over, and saw the price tag--$65.00!!!! This tray is made by Tag, a company that mass-produces household decorative items manufactured in China. Can someone from Ray Wiegand's tell me how they justify the $65.00 price tag on this item??? As an educated consumer, I simply cannot swallow this kind of price-gouging. Again, I understand stores want to make a profit... but the prices at Wiegand's are astronomical for what they are purveying. If the items were handmade with quality materials by local artists... then sure. But, to peddle mass-produced, synthetic wares with outrageous price tags? No thank you. I'll patronize businesses that aren't so greedy. Target has mass-produced Chinese ornaments for $3.00, and they're charming. read more

The nursery stock in this place is superb in the season. Their selection of Christmas decorations and accessories is an absolute wonderland. I have been coming to this nursery ever since the late 90s and not much has changed over the years, but in a good way! Other than the remodeling of the outdoor area and the inside near the cash registers, this place has always been incredibly efficient and helpful for anyone's nursery needs! The last time I was there, it was around the Christmas holiday and they had quite the spread of Christmas based items. I couldn't believe the amount of Christmas items they had. It made it feel like I was at Broner's Christmas Store but I was actually at Wiegand's! I am glad that my family is still able to continuously find what they need here at Wiegand's. read more

This place is nowhere near where we live, but it was worth the drive! We were helped by Char and she was terrific. If she didn't know the answer to our question, she found someone who did. We were looking to re-landscape a wet area in our yard. They steers us in a totally different direction, and we're excited with our purchases. The prices were beyond fair. This is the best full service nursery in the Detroit metro area, and when I say full service, I mean full service. The selection of plant material and supplies are extensive, and the quality of the merchandise is excellent. They offer a greater selection of trees and shrubs than any other place and can plant them for you as well. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. MY husband went to return a few plants we bought last year that failed to thrive, He had all the tags and they were able to look up the transaction but rather then replace the plants , as any nursery would, including Home Depot and Lowes they charged him 5 dollars a plant stating they were on sale when we bought them , Does that change the fact that they died? This place is simply beautiful! If you're having a bad day, in a crappy mood, or just not feeling your brightest of self, I highly suggest you take a walk through this place. There is no way you can be in a sour mood while strolling around this gorgeous green house/nursery. This place will lift your spirits and just make you feel good. There has been plenty of times, either with or without my children, that I've spent an afternoon just walking around window shopping at everything this place has to offer. The plants, herbs, flowers, fruit trees, and decor are just top quality. Everything I've ever bought here has never disappointed. They have a small butterfly garden in the spring/summer that's worth coming for alone. Not only do they sell all your garden/nursery needs, but they also occasionally have classes that you can take. Some are free, like the rock garden classes, while others cost a fee like the fairy garden class that I have taken in the past. I throughly enjoyed that class, as did my daughter. It was well worth the money spend. I look forward to hopefully another one later this season. During the holidays you can have your pictures taken with Santa or the Easter bunny. They put on a beautiful holiday display to take pictures at. Everyone from the community usually comes, and it can get very busy. But I've waited in the long line in the past, and it's definitely worth it. They also sell items to maintain outdoor ponds. We have a koi pond and this is one of the places where we purchase our food for our koi and other items we need to keep our pond healthy and clean. I love the beautiful lillys the sell. They are always so lush and healthy. The employees are friendly, helpful and always ready to assist you. Sign up for their rewards program to earn cash back in rewards, and they send you a $10 gift card during your birth month. I am new to the area and was searching for trees to provide privacy. I found that I could very well spend the kids college fund. It's so beautiful at Ray Wiegand's Nursery! The staff is friendly and helpful. I ended up purchasing a rather big tree, a GOLDIE who was 7' tall I. Her giant root ball. Turns out Wiegand's will transport and plant/mulch around the new baby. So I used that service. What a BEAUTIFUL job they did! Wish I had discovered them before I sodded out grass and planted those 13 other trees. GOLDIE was too big to fit in a standard vehicle. She looks great in the yard. The guys did a beautiful job, I couldn't be happier!!! read more

Wiegand's has been there forever. It's an institution. They have absolutely gorgeous stuff. .and not just flowers. Planters, birdhouses, even the tiny little things for fairy gardens. (what is with fairy gardens all of a sudden? Has there been an influx of fairies in Macomb county?) The store seems to go on forever with something new around every corner. .is that a fountain?? I need that ceramic dragon!! A bag of rocks?? Yes please! Some of the items are pretty pricey but it was fun walking around and looking at everything. read more

I believe this is very fair criticism. In 2017 I hired Wiegand's to design and provide landscaping for the front of my house. Theresa Miller (an employee of Weigand's) was an absolute delight to work with! She was professional and helpful. She answered questions timely, provided suggestions, and even gave guidance regarding care of the landscaping, after the install. My problem is with Wiegand's management, who obviously do not know who they partner with, or how to share responsibility with their partners!! The installation of my landscaping was done by SiteScape, a partner of Wiegand's. And while they were all a very nice, they missed the mark: Everyone in my area told me about the "clay" soil that things would be planted withing. SiteScape should have known this and should have advised me to do what everyone else with healthy landscaping does: Either plant above the clay (i.e. build up your landscaping into a mound) or dig-out and remove the clay and replace it with good soil so that the landscaping can flourish! SiteScape did amateurish things -- and i wasn't educated enough at the time to question their laziness -- and it cost me headaches of my landscaping for multiple years! I have had to replace almost a dozen bushes/plants (ones that supposedly can survive anywhere) just to have a normal landscape! Giving my experience two-stars is me being generous. I have had to literally replant everything within my landscaping and it wasn't made right by the professionals that I paid to make it right, it was made right by me... someone who trusted the wrong place and eventually just used a Google search engine to figure stuff out. If you are a busy professional like me, DO NOT use Wiegand's as the organization that will make your life easier, because they won't. They turn a blind eye to their partners and then use the Shaggy defense of "it wasn't me"!! read more

Did not stand by their product. Sold me a tree that bloomed every summer, it never bloomed. Talked us into delivery, them planting it for guarantee. We paid for all, over $400.00. Given misdiagnosis on problems withit this year, tree is now dying. Ihave been calling since the first year and have been put off by " Lilly" the supposed expert on their trees since the 1st season. It had one bloom year 2. Nothing since and now its dying. She said she would come look at it, never contacted us. Looks like the latest fix didnt work either. I spent over $500.00 at that store, not to mention over $100.00 this year at Christmas. Imnow being told after the fact that I should have bought Magic Mikes for $20.00 to guarantee the tree? I assure you my husband and I, IF OFFERED any MAGIC warantee would have bought it for $20.00. Thats why we paid them for delivery and installation of over $200.00. Now after multiple emails, calls, trips to the store, Lilly told me they cant control Mother Nature? All trees that are supposed to bloom dont bloom? WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN and will share my entire experience with everyone I know. read more

Visited here pricing trees on a Saturday afternoon. Quite a bit of variety - but only 2/3 we were looking for. Assistance was spotty: tree section: good, Deer repellent (inside): good, front area: awful! Needed help finding a section of plants, no one to be found. Finally found a guy with a walkie, he told me to walk to the 'booth over there (across the lot) and see if there was anyone in there because he worked in ponds'. Could never find anyone in that section and we finally left. Prices here are HIGH. Higher than Bordines in Rochester Hills. I was pricing 4 nurseries and they were the highest. read more

I went there during a half-off sale and the management refused to sell me an item because they did not anticipate someone purchasing one of their more expensive products even though it was a part of the sale. I wrote a letter to the company and even contacted the Better Business Bureau to no avail. I have not been back since, I refused to patronize a business that does not honor its own advertising. read more
