In Jefferson's defense, it is on the south side of town - meaning it's too far for most Hobbsans to consider - plus it's tucked away in a lesser known area. I used to teach at the elementary nearby over 10 years ago... I don't recall any of this being within short walking distance of the school: + basketball courts + bbq grills + lights + pavilions + picnic tables + playground + restrooms + sand volleyball courts + soccer goals + youth baseball fields (still referred to as Bensing Park) + & a .80-mile walking path I give this city park 4 stars because while it has great amenities, it is not at all debris-free nor is it in a particularly nice neighborhood.

She has hired all new staff and they are great. They gym could use some paint. It's not over crowded and it is clean. If you need something the staff is right there and ready to help. I read another review compaining about machines being broken, all of the machines are working. They get repaired by a company in Albuquerque NM, so it does take a week or two to repair what is broken. But I love this place.

While City Park in Hobbs, NM, isn't the largest, it's one of the best overall…read more Located within a neighborhood and behind the newest elementary school, Murray, this park has several amenities: + Restrooms + BBQ grills + pavilions + lights + walking path + playground equipment + tennis courts (with no nets as of 9/2/2022) + splash pad + & shaded basketball courts! There is free parking on the north & south ends as well as street parking. I remember what this park looked like when I was in high school. It has seen a major improvement over the years. The landscaping & shade trees look beautiful & healthy.

Snyder Park is lies right next to Head Start Child & Family Services in Hobbs, NM…read more I never realized how closed it was also to City Park - they are right next to each other. On the morning of February 1, 2026, my youngest kiddo and I drove to check it out. It is a very clean park in a decent neighborhood. Again, not the best neighborhood, not the worst. I refrained from taking a photo of the pavilion as there was a transient eating his meal there on that peaceful morning. This looks like a swell park for a picnic with younger kiddos. It features: + bbq grill + a large pavilion + picnic tables + two different playground areas + trash receptacles There is a nice large parking lot too. Happy February!

My oldest daughter started at Aka To Kuro Martial Arts School in April 2023…read more Just this past weekend (9/23/2023) she participated in her first ever karate tournament. Not only was it that she did so well that pleases me, but how much fun she had... How much respect she has gained for her sensei, her student instructors, and this form of martial arts... how much she has learned from karate. I would highly recommend this program for children as young 5-years-old on up to teenagers. They have a travel team that competes around the country. Fundraising is a critical component for the travel squad. I appreciate how involved the various programs (levels) are within the community and Lea County. Each group prays and recites the Pledge of Allegiance before practice. Their facility just keeps getting better and better. In October, ATK will be celebrating their 7th anniversary! This review aggrandized ATK, but rightfully so. Hobbs should be very proud of this business. I'm a fan!

Bowling is such great fun with my goofball family…read more.. Bel Aire Bowl has been around since I was a little girl growing up in Hobbs. Tonight (8/25/2023) we spent about $140 on two lanes, nine players, and borrowing of bowling shoes. The place hasn't changed much. By that I mean it needs a makeover. Lol. Still, it is super fun at night because they keep the lights low with lots of fluorescent & neon colors moving in disco ball-like patterns. The shoes have been replaced in recent years. The women's restroom was mostly clean. A baby changing station was available. It's next door to a fabulous antique shop, Sonic Drive-In, Exxon gas station, & Big Lots. They also offer these dinosaur ramps for younger bowlers. My 3-year-old niece loved that. The staff members are extremely friendly, patient, & helpful. The snack bar is available. Thank you to my brother for loading the kids up on sugar and passing them back off on us tired and haggard parents. Uncles are punks like that. Lol. There's ample parking. They are open until midnight on the weekends. During Halloween, part of the bowling alley becomes haunted maze. Happy strikes & spares!

Harry McAdams Park is located on the north end of Hobbs, NM…read more It is right next to Rockwind Community Links, a popular public golf course with a grill/restaurant with indoor/outdoor dining on location. There is a walking path here as well. The Hobbs Veterans Memorial is also within walking distance as is the New Mexico State Police office, an old national guard armory, and a motor vehicle department office. This state park offers short-term RV camping. I have never experienced camping out here, but there are several amenities that I've noticed... + clean grounds + dump station + BBQ grills + disc golf course + pavilions + picnic tables + playground equipment + restrooms + sand volleyball courts Actually I agree with my brother's girlfriend - this park has the best sand volleyball pit in all of Hobbs. TIPS + leashed dogs are allowed + the Lovington Highway Health Walk is nearby... it's a concrete walking/running path that runs parallel with a Lovington Highway. Good for dogs, bikes, scooters, roller blades, etc.

Sanger School Park is located in a fairly nice neighborhood in Hobbs, NM…read more For as long as I have been a little kid growing up in this small town, Sanger Elementary has been at the top of all the good lists. It's still a very good school with many great teachers. The City of Hobbs maintains the "Sanger School Park." They refer to it as that on their website. There are a few different playground equipment areas. One for bigger kids, one for smaller ones. There are some beautiful trees and a few benches too. The park itself has street parking only. Park hours are from 5-10 PM per Hobbs Municipal Schools policies. Leashed dogs are allowed as long as owners clean up after them. Of course, yours truly had to vet this place all over again on a chilly February 1, 2026 morning. Did that silly groundhog see its shadow today or what?
