We told Mary to waive the fees but she said the fees were automatically added and she couldn't do anything about it.

I live in Auburn now, but it was was a no-brainer that I would make the 30 minute trip to return to the fantastic folks at Issaquah Highlands Dental Group. Even years later, they're amazing as always. Every staff member is so kind, warm, and caring. I have an awful time with the x-rays, but Lauri was SO gentle and patient. It was the most painless x-ray I've ever done. I would go here just for her. And Dr. Eric Miller is similarly amazing - kind, efficient, and communicative. I had some stains on my teeth and he went out of his way to make sure he got them all, and now my teeth sparkle. :) Going to the dentist is never fun, but Issaquah Highlands Dental Group makes doing so 1,000 times better! Also: One of my favorite things about this dental group is that they are 100% transparent up front about costs. I'm never wondering mid-procedure whether I'll be paying a huge fee afterward. They check with my insurance for me and always make sure I'm aware of and agree with the charges before doing anything. Insurance can be a pain to figure out, and this level of transparency puts Issaquah Highlands Dental Group above and beyond all other providers.

I saw Dr. Christescu about two years ago for a routine exam and cleaning. During that visit, she…read moreidentified what she said was a cavity and told me it needed to be drilled and filled. When I began asking basic questions about the diagnosis and what she was seeing, the interaction felt abruptly shut down. My concerns were dismissed, and it was clear that there would be no discussion or explanation -- the recommendation was presented as final. Shortly after that, she left the room to attend to something else and did not return. That experience left me uncomfortable and uncertain. I had prepaid for two appointments, so I chose not to proceed with the filling and returned about six months later for the second visit. At that appointment, she again told me I needed invasive dental work, describing a procedure that involved drilling through one tooth to access the side of another. Once again, when I tried to ask questions and understand the reasoning, I felt there was no openness to discussion. At that point, I decided not to continue as a patient. What makes this especially troubling is what I learned later. Two years after those visits, I saw another dentist I trust and had a full exam and X-rays done. I was told I have no cavities and that no treatment is needed. If the issue identified two years ago had truly been urgent or progressive, you would reasonably expect it to be worse by now. Instead, it doesn't appear to exist at all. Dentistry involves permanent, irreversible procedures, and patients deserve clear explanations, thoughtful discussion, and a willingness to answer questions -- especially when aggressive treatment is being recommended. I'm very glad I sought a second opinion. I can't speak for anyone else's experience, but based on mine, I would strongly encourage patients to ask questions, trust their instincts, and seek a second opinion before agreeing to invasive dental work.

I specifically do not like how they bait you into agreeing to do something you do not set out to…read moredo. It's somewhat subtle that you do not notice at first, until you insist on what you want or don't want, and they find a way to make you pay for it. I went for a "complimentary" orthodontic evaluation because they were running a promotion. On my first visit, they coerced me into doing a new patient evaluation, making them my official dentist since I didn't have a dentist at the time. It was quite unsettling but seemed harmless since they managed to convince me to come for a second and third visit to continue the evaluation they apparently still hadn't completed. Dr Vanama somehow managed to convince me to remove all my wisdom teeth which are totally healthy, even though I really didn't want to, telling that it was the only way to fix my open bite. The next day after I paid, I called the office to withdraw from the treatment plan, they didn't answer. Then I dropped a message that wasn't responded to. I finally reached them and they said "they'd already ordered my aligners, they didn't know what it would cost them to withdraw the order and I would be responsible for whatever the cost was". I felt this was extremely unprofessional as my concerns wasn't a priority at all to them, they only cared about the money. Both the attendant and Dr. Vanama were extremely rude about their approach. One would've expected that the doctor be more professional but she was way worse, dropping the call on me and insisting that I paid the "lab fee" of $200 and she made sure she collected the money for a service I did not receive, on a "complimentary consultation". I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND! The next day, the started calling me that the fee was $1800

But I was so disappointed and upset when I was leaving my home to the office I found my appointment was canceled without any calls!!! The office only sent a simple text message to cancel it! My all plan was ruined. Then I called the office and the reception lady just hang up my phone because of the poor connection. That's really rude! I still gave them a second chance to message for reschedule. What a ridiculous thing is, since I responded late, I had to wait over three weeks for the new appointment! Okay! I still gave the third chance. I booked a new appointment. Then, they continued sending confirmation reminders even I confirmed. The office lady always blamed the message system. And she never sincerely apologized. The communication is very horrible. The office never called the patients to remind or email patients in advance. I would say, it is not family and senior friendly if ONLY rely on the technology (then why you need to hire the office manager? ) Dr Woo and her hygiene team are great. However, customer services and communication are terrible. Not recommended!

I'd be really careful with this place. Towards the end of 2023 (a couple days before the year was…read moreout), my wife went in for a wisdom tooth extraction. Dr. Woo and her dad convinced my wife to get all four teeth removed even though this wasn't a necessary procedure. My wife did mention that she was pregnant, and they assured her that it was a routine procedure, and it was a good time to have the procedure. Past the procedure, when I picked up my wife and went to the pharmacy to pick up the prescribed medication, they hadn't called ahead with the prescription, and my wife was sitting in the parking lot for over an hour with her mouth bleeding while I was waiting at the pharmacy counter. Apparently, it's common practice to start taking antibiotics a day before the procedure but not only didn't they call the medication ahead, they did it after the procedure. Talk about adding insult to literal injury. As our luck would have it, the prescribed antibiotics triggered a rare autoimmune disorder in my wife, and she spent close to a week in the ER / daily hospital visits. We were sure we had lost the baby on top of the additional stress we had to go through with my wife's condition. I've given Dr. Woo an entire year and then some to see if she'd reach out: just to check with my wife as to how she's doing now. Nada. Zilch. Hence this review. Dr. Woo didn't reach out to my to ask about the pregnancy, the aftermath of the ER visits or even to ask if my wife had recovered from the wisdom tooth removal procedure. The place was tone-deaf enough to keep calling me for my appointments multiple times in the 1-2 months after my wife's procedure (despite not reaching out to my wife at all). I kept saying I can't make their suggested timeslots hoping they'd get a hint till I told them that I'm finding another dentist. You'd think Dr. Woo would know the right thing to do, for her patient. Nope.

The quality of the care I've gotten both in the chair and at the front desk has never been less than excellent. Over the years I've had to go to a few other dentists because of location or insurance and that has made me appreciate them even more. If you've ever felt like going to the dentist seemed a bit like buying a car or joining a gym because you were being sold treatment as much as being cared for you should try them because there is none of that. Don't get me wrong, they clearly love what they do and are passionately curious about their profession, and that shows. For instance I sincerely believe that all the new gadgets they've picked up over the years hasn't been about having more things to sell. Rather it's been because it's fun to have the new tools, and to be able to do more and better care for their patients. They are just having a good time doing what they love and you feel that. One more thing that I've been really happy about is the quality of referrals I've gotten from them. Every time I or a family member has needed to go somewhere for something they don't do the provider they recommended has been excellent and sometimes truly extraordinary.
