The salon is run by an extremely unprofessional owner. Hiding behind the label of one of the 'top hairdressers in Sydney, Anthony is very blinded by his ego. This means that if you do not receive the colour/style that you asked for, it is somehow your fault and could not possibly be theirs.
I thought I was in safe hands, assuming that paying top for the service meant my hair would be done properly.
I went in for a balayage and left pretty much completely blonde (with the majority of my hair very damaged from the peroxide).
Naturally, it can be a very uncomfortable situation if you are unhappy with the outcome. It can be extremely challenging to communicate this, particularly if you are a considerate person who is conscious of the feelings of the stylist. After a bad experience with a hairdresser, often times people will be too afraid to say anything and leave very upset. l somehow worked up the courage to very gently communicate that it wasn't what I wanted, and if they could please fix it.
After receiving a very passive aggressive call from Anthony himself, went in the next day to see if the advanced colourist could fix it.
After attempting to fix it, it still was very unlike what I went in there after, and now my hair is extremely damaged.
l anxiously told the colourist it still was very wrong, and so Anthony came out and asked me to follow him to the back room.
This is where he asked me to leave the premises, offering me only part of my money back. He was extremely passive aggressive, invalidating, and rude. I became very aware that criticism is not taken very well at this salon, and that they were not ready to deal with their own errors. He argued that he thought it looked good, but as I tried to communicate to him- whether he thinks it looks good or not is not the point. The point is that I went in there for a natural looking balayage and walked out pretty much entirely blonde.
Admittedly, I am no hairdresser, and so although had a general idea of what I want (balayage), l don't know the 'hairdresser lingo'. I have no doubt the colourist is very good at what he does. do, however, believe that the extreme lack of communication during the initial consultation meant that there were grave misunderstandings that lead to this hair disaster.
My hair now not only looks terrible, but is also terribly damaged. I am so beyond-words upset with the way I was treated at Raw, particularly by Anthony Nader himself.
If you are thinking of going here, keep in mind that the clients do not come first here. A very important lesson I have learnt from all this is that just because a place is labelled 'the best' and just because you are paying top dollar does NOT, by any means, ensure that you will receive "the best" service.
Also to be noted- inside the salon are signs offering discounts to people who give a 5 star Facebook rating. As far as I'm concerned, a very good salon does not need to bribe clients with discounts to earn 5 stars... read more
