"The worst experience I've ever had -- and we paid for this?"…read more We drove two hours excited for a fun day on the water, but what we got instead was a blatant display of racism and disrespect. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was cold and hostile. The service? Absolutely unacceptable. A heavyset white woman with short hair -- who was clearly not happy to see people like us -- immediately started questioning our English. Mind you, we were communicating just fine. Still, she continued to belittle us, asking if we "even understood" what she was saying, in front of other customers. It didn't stop there. The owner, "Dave", came over while we were calmly sitting down and filling out the forms. He suddenly turned on my brother's wife, demanding that she speak English only, and his tone was aggressive and demeaning. That was the final straw. We ripped up the papers, stood up, and decided we were not going to spend a dime in a place that treats people this way. And just when we thought it was over -- Dave came outside and started taking pictures of our license plates, as if we had done something wrong. Apparently, walking away from their dirty little business upset him. To make things worse, we later found reviews saying they keep the $500 deposits from customers. This whole operation feels like a scam with a side of racism. Thanks for ruining our weekend, Cap'n Dave's. We will never come back -- and we'll make sure others know what you really are.

We will not be renewing our membership for the 2020-2021 season…read more In my opinion: The boats are very nice and the employees are great, but that does not make up for the fact that it is difficult to get a reasonable reservation. Regrettably it seems that the number of members has far outpaced the acquisition of boats and it is no longer worth the money as it is nearly impossible to get a reservation. This was previously a good deal but now the joining fee is approximately $3,200 and monthly fees of higher than $500. It is probably a better idea now to get you and a friend to go buy a boat rather than join this club, as one will likely be unable to get on the water with the Nashville Boat Club in any reasonable fashion. I would not join this club as of now.

Boating is expensive. Owning a boat consists of not only the cost of purchase but also…read moremaintenance, slip fees, insurance, etc etc. While probably the most enjoying endeavor ever, boating costs a pretty penny. That's why companies such as the Nashville Boat Club are so perfect for those of us who love to boat but prefer the almost valet-like services of a rental company. With locations on Percy Priest, Old Hickory, and Center Hill Lakes (as well as lakes around the country!) the Nashville Boat Club is a perfect way to experience boating without the hassle of boating, if you will. They have excellent and knowledgeable staff to help train you on all the different boats in their fleets (pontoons, ski boats, fishing boats...all different types) as well as the different membership packages they offer. There is a one-time membership fee (paid only once and then BOOM you're a member for life) and then a monthly payment each month for 12 months with the option to renew or take a hiatus at the end of each year (without losing membership). All in all the cost is still loads cheaper than actually purchasing your own boat. Still expensive, just not as bad. And they provide all the water sport toys you could want, such as skis, wakeboards, tubes...they have quite the setup here. No matter the time of year you can take out a boat, so long as you reserved it, from hot summer days to chilly winter afternoons. It's a really fantastic company staffed with great people willing to explain all the different options they offer to members. If you are looking to get into boating or are a seasoned water baby, this is a great place to look if you're not necessarily in the market to purchase your own boat. I am more than happy with NBC and all it offers.

We made our reservation through www.recreation.gov (military affiliation not required), and only a few sites were unreserved. Even on a weekday in April, it's a popular place! There are roughly 60 sites, all with electricity and water but not sewer hook-ups at the sites. (there is a separate shared dump station). Prices range from $28-$32 with the more expensive sites being those that are waterfront (if you're lucky enough to snag one!) A discount is available for National Park Service Interagency Senior Lifetime Pass-holders. What's to like? Well-maintained, clean campground. In fact, you're given a trash bag upon arrival to encourage you to keep your site clean. On-site fun, including swimming and boating on the lake, as well as a playground. Friendly and helpful staff. Kudos to the gentleman at the Attendant Booth. A bathhouse with showers and laundry facilities. Benches with a water view to enjoy the sunsets. Some pull-through campsites. Good security. The gate is locked each night from 10 pm-6 am (although we were informed how to enter/exit if we needed to). Reasonable price. Also, Nashville is within 30 minutes. And, what's not to like? We were informed that skunks frequent the area, so you need to store food in approved containers. (We didn't see or smell any). We experienced high winds during our visit, so boating and/or swimming were out of the question. Also, Wi-Fi is not provided at this campground.

We stayed in site #18 and enjoyed ourselves very much. Our site wasn't next to the water because all of the water sites were booked, but every campsite looked really cool, with: a large round cement table with cement seats, a firepit, an outdoor grill, and a flat space for tent camping. The older gentleman camping nextdoor in the campsite next to us came over and gave us: wood, charcoal, and water bottles, because he said he was leaving the next day on his motorcycle and couldn't carry it all. He was very kind to us. Overall, great experience! Can't wait to return to Anderson Road Campground in the future when visiting Nashville, Tennessee!
