Friendly help. But sort your recycling. They don't take a lot of plastics (specifically clam shell…read morecontainers). They have a bookstore and things like used plastic planting pots, cardboard egg cartons and they turn glass into sand. It's $3 to recycle.

The Valley Community Recycling Center is one of the best that I have encountered in 30 years of…read morerecycling in several different places. They have a building that you drive into and several volunteers that help you unload and distribute the different classes of recycling materials in the correct drops downs. They have a printed data sheet with pictures that explain the different categories of recycling materials so that you can separate them prior to arrival and the volunteers are very helpful in helping you learn the many categories. They also accept things that many recycling centers don't. They accept the gardening pots that you have and make them available to others for free or a small donation. They accept books, wire, other metals, pallets, aluminum foil and cans. The pallets can be purchased for a $1 donation. They do not accept hazardous waste or oil but the Borough landfill next door does. The Borough landfill will accept TV's, electronics equipment and hazardous materials. The recycling center has a membership program that provides a sticker for unlimited recycling for a year or they suggest a small donation of $3.00 per trip. They are always looking for volunteers if you wish to help them. Every item recycled and not thrown away helps the environment. I highly encourage you to contact them and join them in improving the environment and eliminating as much disposed of waste in the landfill or thrown illegally in our beautiful lands.

The App sent out two requests under the projects program for responses. Within 24 hours I received two excellent responses that fit my needs. The first was a local nonprofit recycling center with 6 miles. The other was Total Reclaim. Total Reclaim operates a recycling business that accepts on site delivery of recycling products including TV's and other electronics. I consulted their website for details and location and they were 50 miles away. They also have a pickup service in their local area but only rarely in my area. They do charge fees for their services. I choose the local facility because of closeness and smaller fees. It cost me just $7 to recycle the 100 pound TV. I encourage people to use the services of Total Recall when needed. The Anchorage Landfill operates a limited recycling program at the main landfill in Eagle River. It accepts glass which the MatSu Borough Landfill will not. They also accept hazardous materials but I am unsure about electronics. Check the websites for ALL locations to get details and costs concerning their individual operations. I encourage everyone to use the recycling programs to reduce waste, contamination and pollution.

All that gold, silver, tungsten and mercury boards, oh did I say all those non-recyclable Duracell and Energizer batteries. Yeah they take EVERYTHING... Lead, Dead Battery and Electronic-wise! So, there is a catch. You have to give them $15 bucks. Yeah they have to ship your electronics and batteries to the lower 48! They charge us. But before you say "Oh heck no" listen! Save up your electronics. Build it up. Collect it and store till you're ready. It's worth saving our precious landfills and water from deadly batteries and mercury metals. It's better to recycle and reuse! I'd pay $15 bucks to save the world ... would you?

I asked the driver if my car could be towed to my house and he said "no, it has to go to the shop". This was Saturday night around 7 pm. I called Monday morning before work and left a message. I got no call back so I called Tuesday and the lady said it was going to be $600 to pick up and going up $45 a day. I would have been able to pay for the tow to my house but I can't pay the cost to take it out much less adding $45 a day! They "steal" people's vehicles!

The troopers called them to pick up my car that had been totaled. We tried to get everything out that we wanted but while I was being taken to the hospital and my mom and son were running a load to her house, they took the car. Contacted the owner and he said we couldn't get anything out while the car was on his lot. Said he'd been sued before because someone cut they're hand getting their stereo out on his lot. Pretty sure that was code for "you're not getting it till I get paid". A couple weeks when we got the check from the state, he was paid $1,300. Asked again to get stereo out. He said the car was blocked in on 4 sides, "for our protection so no one could steal out of it" (pretty sure that was code for 'so we couldn't steal out of it') and they'd have to get a front loader to move it. Waited 4 days and asked again. Was told no. Waited 4 more days and had my husband call, hoping if a man talked to him it would mean more. He told my husband "you're not a priority on my list of things to do. Don't call me again. I'll call you." Husband got mad, owner responded with, "The cars not yours anymore and you ain't getting the stereo now" and then hung up on him. It's been a month now so I go to the business, explain everything to daughter at front desk. She called owner and he again said give them a couple days. Waited 2 days and called again. He refused to give me and answer and hung up on me. Went to office again. After a VERY mean, rude, unprofessional visit, a guy said come back tomorrow. One of his threatening workers told us to get off his property and that (again) we weren't getting the stereo. Called troopers and he came back with ok tomorrow at 3 again. Son went back next day and they'd ripped the stereo out of the car. Wouldn't let my son get to his car. I felt so helpless and frustrated. I have been and will continue to tell everyone never to use this company. I would hate for anyone else to be treated the way myself and my family was!!!
