I definitely want to come back here when it's warm. We came a few days after they opened for the season and it was still too chilly to sit outside. We did enjoy the ride down to the restaurant and we were starving when we arrived. They don't serve any alcohol until after 5pm. So there is that. Service was fine. The place wasn't busy, so we didn't have to wait at all. We all got burgers and then a mixture of fries and onion rings and an order of the snake tails and eyes. Very good!

The cave!!

What a unique concept, and a very fun visit! This saloon is definitely off the beaten path but well worth a visit if in The area. It's about 18 miles from muscle shoals in rolling foothills. We went on a Sunday afternoon- and the place was already hopping! The rattlesnake saloon is part of a larger complex which includes horseback riding trails, camping, hiking trails, and special events on the property. The weekend we visited they were holding a Jeep event- Jeeping the Saloon. There is a gravel parking lot and a small "bus" pick up area. You will need to park and take their transportation to the saloon (per signage). The transportation was a large pickup truck with wooden benches in the back. It does traverse down a very steep and narrow gravel road to the saloon. But honestly that's part of the entertainment! The saloon itself is in a large open cavern. Even though the temperature was 90° when we went the cavern kept its cool! The food we ordered was very good. The prices were moderate. There was live music which made it even more enjoyable. Great place- definitely recommend a ride out into the country and "off the beaten path" to try it out!

Super unique spot to dine as it is under a huge rock! I specifically came for the Key Lime pie; a few yrs back when living in south Florida, a friend and I went to the Keys for Key Lime Pie (one of the few desserts I actually like as I don't really have a sweet tooth) and they told me that this random spot in rural north Alabama had some of the best KLP that rivaled any in the Keys...so, natch, when I found myself in the area, I had to check it out for myself! I'm happy to report the rumor was true! If you are a KLP fan and in the area, highly recommend! They even have a "shuttle" from the prkg lot to the saloon (restaurant)...lol I missed this tidbit and walked all the way down, which I DO NOT recommend as it is a steep grade. Took the shuttle back, and it was an adventure! With the vibe of a dude ranch you might find in the Southwest, this place is a destination in and of itself. Though be warned, you will sweat even under the shade of the rock in the sweltering 'Bama heat of summer, so be sure to stay hydrated!

Very cool and there was a band playing! It's not exactly something you're coming to for the food. You're there because it's a band playing in a cave. Grab a beer and a burger! Honestly the truck ride back and forth was one of our favorite parts too! hahaha

Enjoy!

Our food was delicious! Such a neat place to visit! A must see for sure! Gift shop available for souvenirs.

A pathetic excuse for a sausage sandwich with some sort of cheese and stale chips

What an interesting place! I can quite honestly say I have never experienced anything like it! The truck ride down to the cave restaurant and back up was pretty insane but I imagine better than walking. We were seated immediately at 4:30 on a Saturday and knew we had to wait until 5:00 for beer to be served. Service was fast - food came out quick but both our dinners were lukewarm - I suppose what we paid was worth the experience but why not do better and serve better food if you're doing it anyway? One and done visit - everyone should visit once, just don't expect anything much!

A fun place to enjoy an unusual environment. The Rattlesnake Saloon is situated in a cave in the side of a mountain so the atmosphere is quite entertaining. This not an enclosed cave, more of a large opening that they have built in a saloon area where the food is prepared and the rest of the opening is a dining area with uplighting that accentuates the natural beauty of nature's work. To get to the cave, you park in a gravel lot and wait for the "taxi" which is a pick-up truck with easy to use steps leading to the bed where seats are on each side. The ride is fun and allows you to take in the beauty of the forest as you descend a steep road to the cave. Tips are strongly encouraged for the driver, but we were not prepared with cash, so it was a bit awkward climbing off without giving that tip. Once at a table, the menu is typical bar/saloon food and not anything special. I think that is very unfortunate, because with a great menu to match the environment, it would certainly be a truly special outing. That said, if you are expecting so-so food, but a very cool situation to eat it in, you will not be disappointed. Lastly, if it is cooler weather, be certain to dress for it. The cave is very, very cool when the sun goes down. I am happy we visited, but unlikely to go back again.

Such a beautiful and neat place! You park your car and a truck picks you up to drive you down. We didn't go for years because we were worried about the handicap accessibility, BUT the drive down is very short and easy, the truck that picks you up has stairs and handlebars, you also have the option to get in the cab of the truck so that would help people that are nervous. The atmosphere was beautiful, they had live music that was great, and the food tasted good! It was more like bar food, but for bar food it was fantastic! Cannot wait to go back!

Saloon and outdoor seating.

What about someone in a wheelchair? Can you drive them?

It will be very difficult. They try to be handi-cap friendly but it's very hard on the Handi-cap. I am handi-cap with a prosthetic leg and a brace on my other leg, and my balance is very difficult. I did okay, but it was still hard on me. They pick… Read more

We had the brisket loaded fries, stuffed oven roasted chicken, green beans, side salad, and hushpuppies. They were ALL phenomenal and the chicken was the most tender chicken either of us have ever had! Our server (I've forgotten her name....Mariah?) was very attentive and sweet. The atmosphere was a bit elevated without being stuffy.....a great downtown vibe. We've already decided, if we are back in the area, this place is a MUST!!

She acted like this was her first day on the job (of any job) and not proactive. When asked for a Bloody Mary she failed to offer any options as published; "pick a spirit then mix and match signature mixes and toppings". When quizzed in depth about the menu, she was clueless. She mixed up our plates because she did not make note of who ordered what. Very slow to present the checks even with the restaurant @~25% capacity. - Seafood Gumbo's flavor was so bad, I could not eat more than one bite. - Meatloaf quality was the worst I've ever experienced. - Twice Baked Potato was very dry and baked far too long. - - - When presented with the check, Madison H failed to clarify that a tip @20% was already included due to our group size of six or more, which was tucked within the tax lines. This was overlooked and she received 30% more than she earned and deserved. - - - The Owner's procedure of have the waitstaff use a handheld credit card machine is fine, if they train the waiters to actually walk away after presenting the check, allowing the customer to review the details of the check and not be rushed. Madison H just presented to check and stood over the table, impatiently waiting to jam the machine into customers face. - - - The Owner also has the gall to charge an extra 3% for using a credit card! Be for real, this is part of doing business, price it in your pricing. Talk about nickel & dime'ing, WOW!!! STEER CLEAR!!! You have so many other greater options, even if you need to drive more.

Wow! Really, really, really impressed at how delicious this place was. We were road-tripping in…read morethe area and decided to stop in for lunch, and I'm so glad we did! Cleveland is a small town that would be easy for many to miss, but a trip to the area for this restaurant alone is worth it. It seems a fairly popular spot for lunch and also boasts a small local collection of art, the profits of which go to support a local addiction recovery group. Very kind. The restaurant is clearly owned and operated by Christian folks as evidenced by the decorations, but the churchy feeling is very welcoming and not at all proselytizing. Likewise, the service was effusively kind and helpful. They were happy to chat and answer questions about the menu. They greeted each customer with a smile on their face and made appropriate small-talk with regulars. An older gentleman who was clearly hard of hearing was treated with heaps of patience and kindness; he seemed a regular and they said goodbye to him and reassured him they'd be waiting for him when he visited again the following week. It was so sweet and did my heart good. :) The menu has a lot of fancy sandwiches, a few entree salads, and a few entrees like smoked chicken and loaded baked potatoes. Sides are sort of upscale bbq/southern restaurant (grits, greens, potato salad, beans, etc). The prices are appropriate for the portion size and very high quality of the food. I ordered their "Ranch Burger" sans red onion and tomato while both of my parents got the patty melt. I tried their macaroni and cheese for a side; both 'rents got the baked potato salad. Our food was cooked fresh so it took a few minutes to come out; it was more than worth the wait. I will go ahead and get out of the way that the only not gold-star-worthy item was the macaroni and cheese. It wasn't bad, but it seemed like it had been reheated and it was just sort of gloopy and a little oily. I'd get my parents' baked potato salad over that next time; it had fresh-cooked crumbled bacon bits on it and was so smoky and cool. Holy MOLY the sandwiches, yall. The patties were hand-formed on both, steaming hot and cooked perfectly. Nice balance of fattiness too. My burger was an awesome symphony of flavor: slightly sweet, soft pretzel bun, melted sharp cheddar, creamy ranch, and this amazing sweet-and-salty bacon jam that perfectly tied the whole thing together. The copious amount of ranch made it a little hard to eat, but paper towels were readily available and I smashed that dang burger. As delicious as it was, my parents' patty melts may have been even better. Same great burger, add delightfully crispy, thick-cut bacon and this absolutely fabulous cheese dip...WOW. Hard to describe how incredible both sandwiches were, so with that in mind: go TRY THEM yourself. Thanks so much for one of the best meals I've had in a good while!
