Hungry after your hike up the hill and a 45 minute walking tour? Reischburg Cochem Burgschänke is a…read moregreat place to stop for a bite to eat before or after your tour! Unfortunately the castle café is closed from January 6th through March 13th, but during their tourist and early winter hours they're open from 10am to 6pm and in winter closes at 4pm. It's located in the same building as the tickets and souvenir shop, just walk through and take a seat. They'll come to you for your order, but it may take a few minutes for someone to realize you're waiting, which is what happened for us. We sat there for about 10 minutes before the waitress realized she had new customers. Their menu is only in German, so make sure you've got a translation app downloaded on your phone so you can understand the menu. The menu consists of small entrees, alcoholic beverages, juices and soda. They also have a speciality coffee menu and 3 options for kids. There is also a dessert menu with almost a dozen options for treats and sweets. We ended up ordering the schnitzel with potatoes and Vienna sausages with bread and butter. The schnitzel was amazing and the potatoes were super tasty, the herbs they were baked in added a nice flavor and a little crunch. The Vienna sausages were basically 10 inch hot dogs with a spicy flavor, a packet of spicy German mustard and a slice of rye bread. It was good but I was expecting something different, so I'll probably try something else next time. The café has about 15 tables as well as an outdoor terrace with views overlooking the Mosel River and town below. It was very quaint and quiet even though they were fairly busy, with only one waitress working. Our order ended up coming out to about €23 euro with our drinks, so it wasn't too bad for two people honestly. I hope during the tourist season they have more people working so customers wait time is reduced but other then that, it's a great place to grab some grub before or after the castle tour. Overall our food was good, service could've been a bit better but we enjoyed ourselves. 4/5 just because the service was a little slow.

Cafe attached to the castle. Theres an outdoor terrace that overlooks the town and the river. Nice…read moreplace for a coffee after the climb up to the castle or before or after the castle tour. Didnt try any of the food so cant comment on that.

Charming Cochem property and staff. The breakfast was awesome...eggs made to order with a great…read morespread. The location is great during peak travel season since it's quieter than the riverside hotels, etc., which can get noisy. There is parking available, within a short distance from the Villa. We used a TomTom GPS, and it found a way through the narrow one-lane streets, and parking was nearby after dropping luggage. The owners are nice, helpful, and accommodating. We had a pleasant stay, and we enjoyed a local Mosel wine from the kitchen when we returned to our room. Don't let the narrow streets scare you...you'll get there...just take it slow and watch the pedestrians. The rooms could use a fan during the summer, especially the upper rooms with only one side of windows, thus no cross-ventilation, such as the Moseltal (spelling?) room. Moseltal is nearly unbearable sleeping without a fan during summer. Even the lower rooms could use one when it's warm outside.
