They have indoor and outdoor seating and was pretty crowded the whole time we were there. It seemed like most of the food on their menu was fried which I don't really care for. But everything the other customers were eating around us looked and smelled so good! We ordered the calamari to share...it was good but a little too oily for my taste. For dinner I had the salmon with Turkish rice. The salmon and rice were flavored perfectly! The portion sizes are pretty big and the prices are reasonable.

I had the herring sample plate, don't remember the exact name, but it was something like Köln Sushi. In any case, it was herring served in a bout 6 different ways and I loved every one of them. This dish is for true lovers of those delightful little fish. They were smoked, marinated, raw, with beets in a salad, grilled, and so on. Everything was so fresh and tasty. I finished it all, something I seldom do. This was the best meal I had in Cologne, and I'd go back for more. That's saying a lot too, as I almost always prefer trying somewhere new. The riverside setting is great for people watching, and for us it was a great place to duck out of the rain for a Kölsch before we decided to stay and dine.

The service was good, the waitress and an owner-looking guy were both responsive and polite. However after I paid my bill, an older owner-looking guy stopped me from heading out and asked me to take my bottle with me. I bought a bottle of still water earlier, and finished it during dinner so I left the empty bottlethere. I was embarrassed at first thinking I had to take care of the plates and trash, until the old guy speaking to me with a condescending tone: German people come to a restaurant, order food and drink, they don't drink from their own. You take it with you unless it isn't yours. I simply don't understand the logic that if I have my water already, why do I have to order the unnecessaries from you? Plus, if you can't handle the culture diversity probably you shouldn't do catering on the most international corner in Köln. I welcome any German friend to enlighten me on this. Food wise it was average, I ordered tapas which had no seafood, so probably that was not their specialty.
