I have been terrified of the dentist for some time. Kind of like the car dealership, you have a go-between who talks billing and insurance with you away from the nurse and dentist. It's discrete and comfortable without pressure. My nurse (dental hygienist) was Susan? Or Sandy? God she was an angel. She was so kind to me breaking down and upset and in pain. She made me feel so comfortable talking about stuff and offering anything I might need. My dentist was Dr Taylor who was incredibly knowledgeable and proficient. I got out what needed to come out and I even scheduled an appointment for regular maintenance later this month. I was made comfortable to be there, whether I needed nitrous or a valium, either are available. And they make sure you are physically comfortable with numbing. Mentally comfortable is hard, but true kindness shines through in the folks who work there. I got a kids "reward" (shark plushie) to hold while I had my procedure. When I left I got a "goodie bag" with full instructions on what I had done, extra gauze, and an emergency card. It's a little hinky getting in with the road construction on witchduck road. But soon as your turn on Grayson, by the church, it's there. There's an employee entrance on the witchduck side and another saying Ste 200 on the side, even though the dentist is Ste 100, this is the door you go in.

But the dentist himself is quite competent. Not perfect, though. Office and staff are clean and pleasant. 3. Also, never make an appointment for a Monday morning in the winter. Line item details: 1. They're not answering their phone. And the message you get is: this is a remote location, we don't monitor voice mail, call main number 757-424-3555. If this is the number you called (It was. multiple tries) then we're on the phone or away from our desks. We look forward to speaking with you. (Doesn't seem true to me ...) 2. He and staff are always pleasant, if you can manage to get an appointment. He doesn't have the best injection technique, however. More unpleasant than it needs to be. For one thing, he yanks your cheek around instead of buying a vibrator. 3. Speaking of too cheap to buy equipment --- You'll freeze your wisdom teeth off on a Monday when it's cold outside. The heat has been off all weekend, and they won't install a programmable thermostat, or have someone come in early to warm the place.

The front desk staff was welcoming right away and even thanked me for completing my forms ahead of time, which was a nice touch. The dental assistant who took my X-rays (I'm assuming that's what it's called) came out to get me and was super kind and easy to talk to. She explained everything as we went and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. After the imaging, Dr. Hernandez came in and went over everything they found. I honestly don't remember ever having a dentist be that thorough. He took his time, explained things clearly, and made sure I understood what was going on and had all my questions answered. This was just the first visit--they'll do the cleaning and anything else at a follow-up--but overall, everyone there was wonderful. It's hard for me to even say this, but I'm actually looking forward to going back. "Clear my day; I'm going to the dentist," said no one ever…read more Well, at this dentist's office, this is what they expect. They actually gave me grief about being upset that I had to wait over an hour to be seen. Appointment times don't matter. They're treated as suggestions. Time management is a serious issue here. My first visit I arrived five minutes early and still waited 45 minutes before being seen. Dr. Smith was apologetic. My second visit, I arrived 15 minutes early and still had to wait over an hour to be seen. I chatted with another person in the waiting area and she said she always has to wait over an hour. When I was finally seen, I had to leave before they did the cleaning because I had another appointment. Forgive me for thinking two hours was enough time set aside for a visit to the dentist. This time, Dr. Smith was less apologetic and more "we're busy...it happens." Well then, what is the purpose of appointments? She actually asked me, "are you always on time?" Ma'am. Stop. The contention was wild, which added to me leaving...and quietly vowing never to return. Other than that, I was told I had several cavities and fillings that needed to be replaced. Three months later, I was finally able to be seen by my regular dentist (that I've been going to for about six years faithfully), and he found no such thing. Pretty needless to say, I will NOT return to Dr. Smith and I wholeheartedly do NOT recommend this office to anyone.

My 7 year old daughters first visit to this dentist went ok, not great, I wasn't planning to go…read moreback but the hygienist was really wonderful so I gave them another shot. Today was our second visit and it was a totally different story. Upon arrival 15 min early, myself and 2 daughters entered the small waiting room where another young boy was already sitting, this young boy had his shoes off & sat with his feet & dirty mismatched socks propped up onto another chair, coughing, sneezing , sniffling , clearly he was sick. After sitting for awhile I gathered that this was the son of an employee at this particular office , he & 2 other boys walked back and forth from the waiting room & the back rooms where the exams take place. Don't get me wrong, as a mother of 2 &one on the way, I understand that kids get sick & sometimes we have to make it work even if it's not ideal but I was genuinely concerned about my 18 month old getting wherever sickness this boy was spreading throughout the office & possibly myself whose 6 months pregnant. Also, the office isn't exactly clean, the windows were absolutely awful , everything in the waiting room was covered in a thick layer of dust, and smelled stale. A passerby stopped in to inform the front desk of the dog feces on the sidewalk in front of their door & also pointed out a shopping cart full of trash sitting right in front of their office, the woman from the front desk walked outside & took a picture & returned to her seat. The office space next door was empty so I thought it would've been easy enough to move the cart that blocked the path to their door , but she chose not to. Nor did she do anything about the mess someone's pooch left. It's unfortunate because I really do like the dental hygienist, can't say the same for the dentist herself because I never got to met her, but after today's experience I won't be returning. I would never recommend them.

We contacted a couple of dentists that friends recommended but appointment wait times were two months out and my wife needed help now. One of the dental practices I contacted suggested trying Dr. Breininger so I called his office and have been very happy with the way things have turned out. Dr. Breininger was able to see her right away and take care of her issues. The facility is clean and modern. The staff members appear to have all been employed at the practice for a long time and are comfortable working with each other. Everyone is friendly and professional and they carry out their duties in a thorough and efficient manner. There's just a comfortable feel to the place and they really make you feel welcomed. Besides just treating your issues they take the time to get to know you. Dr. Breininger is a person who genuinely cares about his patients. He demonstrates a love for his job and is absolutely capable of attending to of all your dental needs. He has many years of experience and has skilled steady hands. His pleasant and caring demeanor put his patients at ease. He is also an excellent communicator and can explain things in a way you can easily understand. He never makes you feel rushed and spends all the time you need with him. Dr. Breininger goes the extra mile, my wife and I were impressed and appreciative that Dr. Breininger took the time to call us at home to make sure my wife was okay after a procedure. He even left a phone number to reach him if she had an issue during off hours, service like that is very rare these days. Okay, nobody likes going to the dentist but you really need not fear this one. You're in good hands at the Breininger Dental office.

Today, May 28, I found out that they never booked my son's appointment, and now there are no openings until March of 2026. If you're trying to get your teeth cleaned every six months, this is not the right place for you. They only have availability for one cleaning a year. While the dentists and dental hygienists are nice, the front desk staff is rude and clearly lacks knowledge about their processes. Additionally, they previously scheduled an appointment for me to have my teeth pulled without a consultation, and the dentist informed me that this is a common practice, even though he can't extract teeth without a prior consultation. He stated he has tried to get the front desk staff to stop but they will not. I highly advise against wasting your time here. I wish I could give them zero starts but this review requires I give 1 star to post it.
