Me and my wife went for my 29th birthday and I felt soooooooo comfortable being there. We got there around 8:30pm and decided to stay until 11. Only thing that bothered us was the cigarette smoke towards when it got closer to 10ish but we managed it because we were outside on the patio which was amazing and comfortable to lay on. So we went inside and enjoyed the show. That entire night was great we made some friends and everything. Very friendly environment, drinks were great and I enjoyed my birthday. Came to visit w/ mother and partner & Crystal Ballz was an amazing yet fun Bingo host. We had so much fun we had to come back for a second round. Entirely different crowd, host, and bartenders and had just as much if not-more fun as the day prior! A big shout out to two awesome peeps we met. On mine and my husband's 19th Anniversary, we had our day packed with wonderful activities. What we didn't have planned was the nights event as we wanted to be a little spontaneous. So we thought, "Where can we go and have subpar drinks and come home smelling like an ashtray?" We didn't really say that, but this is what we got when we decided to go to Rascals. The only gay club that we have gone to in years where they still allow smoking on the inside. At 8:30 pm when we arrived there were only about 20 people and 3 smokers so I was amazed that they allowed those 3 to pollute the rest of us with their smoke. Our first drinks were terrible. My husband's Cranberry and Vodka was mostly Cranberry with a splash of Vodka. The next drink, however, was made by another bartender (very tall) and it was good and he was polite. By the time the show started at 11 pm, the place was packed. We sat at the bar and couldn't see the drag queens at all, but part of that was the smoke billowing in the air. Yes, at that point, there were probably 10 people smoking--2 of them decided to sit on either side of us. As I gasped for air, I finally decided my life was more important than trying to see a drag show so we left. While my husband wanted to give them a 1 star, I decided on a 2 star because the drinks did improve with the tall bartender. That being said, we will not go back until/if they decide to ban smoking on the inside. read more

I'm must admit that this is by far the worse gay establishment I have ever been to, and that's as a well traveled gay man. The staff (other than the greeter at the door) is quite angry and shady in character. The drinks are fairly weak and the crowd is probably the most unfriendly crowd I have ever encountered. It's the first bar I've gone to where the bartenders often greet you with a "ughh what do you want" attitude. I entered the women's restroom (being a gay male) and boy did that get crazy. The whole time I was using the restroom one of the staff members banged on the door asking me to get out. Mind you, I used the women's restroom as I do often because it's usually a lot cleaner. Also, I've never had an issue using the women's bathroom in a gay establishment NEVER! When I walked out there was the Poddy Police which in a very hostile way spoke to me "I BETTER NOT SEE YOU GO IN THERE AGAIN! That's the women's bathroom!" I ignored him and went to go sit with my partner at the bar. He followed me yelling all kinds of racist slurs and remarks assuming I didn't understand him. Finally, when he realized I was speaking with the bartender in English tapped me on the shoulder to continue what he called "the bathroom incident" My thoughts are as follows; What if I identified as a women? What if I was trans F2M? What if I was taking a shit and just need a private bathroom? What if I were the Hot Headed Spic he thought I was? I hen has there ever been a Female or Male bathroom at a gay bar/club? Since my debuts in the gay community me and my best of female friends have ALWAYS used the same bathroom. How dare you queen! This bar should be a huge disappointment to the LGBTQ Community. read more

I had been dying to check this place out since it opened! And boy am I glad I did!!! My hubby and I felt immediately at home. This is a judgment free establishment and they make sure the patrons know by the way one is treated. We were provided service by Billy the Bartender and he knows how to make a drink. The drinks are fair in price. When you first walk in, the place smells delicious... Literally, like cotton candy. Perhaps it has something to do with the delicious Jello Shots... The establishment is clean, security is friendly and welcoming. I loved the fact that there were individuals from all walks of life in this fabulous little gem. The music is upbeat, the patrons are also friendly. I think this is the kind of place a town like Fort Myers needs! A spot that is current and relevant to the diverse needs of the community! I think this place could be a five star joint in a minute if they would just designate one section of this large venue non-smoking. Everyone grumbles about it but the management doesn't care. I can understand the indifference because it's the only bar in town. But what a great gesture and loyal crowd they would have if they had one, just one non-smoking section. People have complained for years but nothing happens. If you go, you need to be prepared to come home and undress outside your door and leave your clothes out overnight. Great drinks, great bartenders, great clientele (the non-smoking ones). This is another example of Florida being a little off the mark for even allowing smoking. It's too bad that this place -- one of the very few gay bars in all of SWFL -- is always filled with smoke! As someone very susceptible to asthmatic bronchitis, I hate having to inhale the second-hand smoke that is unavoidable here. And I especially don't like walking out with my clothes smelling of smoke. While I understand that bar owners may think that a smoking ban would drive customers away, they don't realize that there already are many, many potential customers who don't patronize Rascals precisely because of the smoke. I suspect business might even increase if smoking were banned -- or at least restricted to outside. read more

If it were possible to give one star I would. It's like stepping back in time and not in a good way. When you walk in you are hit by the stench of old cigarettes. How in the world in 2017 we are so ignorant of second hand smoke is beyond me. Plus the place is dark and not inviting. What a disappointing trip back here. Apparently in 2016 (yes, 2016) when nearly every major metropolitan area bans smoking, and Rascal's used to, they have implemented a reversionary smoking policy, in their space the size of a house, that resembles a 727. Smoke in one side, not on the other, but you'll still be subjected to the stench either way. This is sad, because this bar had so much potential and promise, but bowing to the past will keep me, my friends and my dollars away. read more

As an experienced bartender who has visited clubs and bars in many areas of the United States, I have to say this is one of the worse Gay bars I have ever gone to. Unfortunately, due to their lack of competition they seem to make their own rules. The only gay bar I have ever visited where the staff is rude, cunty, and aggressive. Although, I would love to say I got drunk and messy. I can't, because their drinks are super weak. I also encountered some of the worse customer service and security I have ever encountered in my life. I was given terror for using the female bathroom (umm it's a gay bar) and the energy was very homophobic, although they were all gay. Unfortunately, it is one of the only gay bars in the area and I think they know it. read more

I was expecting much more being one of the few gay friendly bars in Ft Myers and surrounding areas. It's kind of small and sad, in my opinion. Customers can smoke both inside and outside. It's also very dark and, personally, I don't like that, unless it's a club (which is not the case of Rascals). In most places I have been, its 18 to enter, 21 to drink, and ZERO issue when accompanied by a parent/guardian. newly out young man was completely embarrassed by the actions of the older bouncer. i get it, there are rules, however the way it was handled was not cool. to whisk the young man away from his family and put outside was not the way to handle it. you take a shy newly out young man and just set him back completely in trying to discover is true self. again, i completely understand rules, and as we did not see anything posted, and are from out of state, we were not aware. sadly the bouncer, in my opinion, could have handled this differently and at least spoken to the parents before separating the young man and completely destroying his first experience in the community. he was supervised. his family did not immediately understand what was happening to him. so in conclusion, nice place you have there, but please show a little more kindness, especially in such a mean world where lgbtq* are still often treated like crap. i would love to hear from a manager about this situation if they would like. and also a suggestion, plast EVERYWHERE AND ON EVERY POST YOU ARE 21 AND OVER ONLY!!!! We visited Naples and Fort Myers for the Memorial Day holiday weekend for a change of scenery and change of pace. On Saturday night we decided to check out the gay bars in Ft. Myers (there are only two now). After a disappointing visit to the other bar, we arrived at Rascals just after midnight. The bar immediately reminded me of small-town neighborhood bars that I have visited in several places around the country. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. The crowd was mostly 30s to 40s and older. Mixed drinks were reasonably priced at $6.50 and served in a normal-sized glass. The bar was well staffed, friendly, and efficient. We arrived in time to see a drag show that featured three locals and one out-of-town guest. The drag show was fun and not at all pretentious. There was a lot of community spirit in evidence, and all in all the visit was pleasant. Several people were dressed in Veteran's Day-themed costumes. The only negative - and the reason for only 3 stars - is that smoking is still allowed inside this bar. There is a sizeable outdoor patio which would be the natural "smoking section" for this establishment, but inside the air was smoky and feeling heavy, although there was some ventilation. read more

I was at Rascals the night Aaron was asked to leave. Aaron, I saw you and a friend involved in some petty lewd conduct and when you were asked to stop you gave attitude and continued your behavior. When TOLD to stop or leave you upped the level of your attitude and they did tell you to leaave. Something you may be unaware of is almost everyone thanked the satff for getting rid of you guys.
