From the very beginning the entire process with Mark was seamless. Due to COVID 19 our wedding day got postponed on two separate occasions but this was not a problem at all. He accommodated our new date and made the changes easy. From initial emails and calls, to our online chat before the big day, Mark was fantastic at communicating. He took any stress away, made us feel at ease and even took the time to get to know our love story, wedding party and guests so he could make references throughout the night - we knew we were in safe hands! On our wedding day Mark did not disappoint but instead exceeded our expectations! The music choice was just perfect, the dance floor was full the entire time and nobody wanted the night to end. Personable, professional and super talented. Mark you are incredible at what you do and we cannot recommend you enough!

Silent Filter Promotions have been running in Birmingham for three years. Pretty much any night of…read morethe week, you can find at least one of their gigs going on at a venue in Birmingham. They put on a wide variety of indie, punk, rock and acoustic acts (although no metal or screamo) and are instrumental in helping a hell of a lot of young bands take their first tentative steps onto the Birmingham gig circuit. When I say young, I've seen kids as young as 13 appearing at Silent Filter gigs, their proud parents watching on. Silent Filter is run by Phil, a very amiable Villa fan who makes a point of introducing every band at every gig. This is a small but significant step because it stops it being a succession of anonymous bands whom no-one knows. Phil's intros are always funny and ensure that every band starts their set with a bit of a cheer rather than shambling on to an embarrassed silence. You can find Phil on the door of his gigs at the Academy 3, Island Bar, Waggon & Horses, Adam & Eve, Sunflower Lounge, Moseley Arms and more besides.

Their services include Marquee organisation, fancy dress, cakes, bouncy castles and other inflatable items, balloons and much more! I particularly love their range of fancy dress as I am often invited at least once a year to someone's compulsory fancy dress party and so I like to try and find a good outfit. They have all of the typical fancy dress outfits, such as super heroes and famous characters, but they will do their best to help you find something if they have not got it! The staff are friendly here and are also enthusiastic when it comes to finding a good outfit. I have not used their other services yet, but they look good and I think they are worth a visit if you are planning an unforgettable party!

On the contrary, Soul Sounds Entertainment has packed out the dance floor at every party I have seen them perform. Unlike some lazy DJ's today, they play live mixes that drive crowds wild with teasers of the next track. They play a range of RnB, Bhangra, Bollywood, 60s-90s classics...the list goes on! I was impressed by their willingness to play all the requests made to them so they were very approachable and receptive to what the crowd wanted. Their set-up is striking and makes a perfect central feature to any function. The DJ's are great at hosting the party and they're multilingual, which helps the older Asian generations! They offer packages to suit various budgets, although you're not limited to these. Fantastic DJ's to get any party rocking!

Its by going to these shows though that made me gain the awarness of what they had on offer and since then i have attend many other activites there; The baby and childrens nearly new sale The wedding fayres Two tribute nights, one being queen and the other Abba two charity nights and so on and on. The staff are very nice and very effiecent, the venue is very well presented and very clean. Parking is good both infront of the hall and behind the hall. THe toilets, bar and kitchen facilities are very clean and have everything you could want. Its a really nice place and I have currently been thinking of hiring it for my grandparents anniversary coming up, and there rates are very reasonable. I think its nice that Rugby has something like this still where people can still go and meet up, they do other activites such as yoga classes and weight watcher classes etc, its bascally like a very very large community centre and has been there ever since i was born and i hope that it will be around for many more years to come. A big thank you to the team at the Benn Hall for a brilliant night out. Cecil B and the boys were on form dishing out all the favorites from the boggie years. Dancing most of the night with the groovy bunch, Big B, Annie get your gun, mad Janie, sweet Kim and Nobby Nick to mention a few. Doing the business and looked Fab in a Rod Stewart type wig that took be back to those happy days of boogie woogie and rock and roll. Get in on and get down to a fun night out. For years and years, aspiring youngsters and cynical musos have all practiced plying their trade down there. Near to the much-neglected Gun Quarter (the Jewellery Quarter's outlaw sibling), Robannas has over the years taken up more and more of Cliveland Street. This is no bad thing, as the city centre needs a big, well-known rehearsal rooms. Over the years, the place has become cleaner and the standard of equipment in the by-the-hour rooms has improved. The staff are always helpful and the owner Rob has a reputation for throwing some very wild parties there. Over the years, I've rehearsed and recorded there with various bands and it's an experience which has become more and more pleasant over the years. I still have to visit to buy single guitar strings (something they sell which is a big bonus).

Robannas is an institution on the Birmingham music scene. You ask any musicians from Birmingham…read morethat have seriously gigged and I guarantee they will know Robannas. They've had their fair share of famous customers (Napalm Death and Pussycat Dolls to name two) but what about their services? Well my band used them for quite a while until we managed to find free rehearsal space elsewhere and we never had any problems with them . The staff were always helpful and polite, the equipment worked, the rooms weren't particularly spectacular but weren't particularly bad either, though it was often fairly easy to hear other bands practising through the walls. Prices are pretty similar to what you'd expect with discounts for bulk bookings eg fifty pound for an all day session. It's a good, solid, friendly place that I've no qualms recommending to a friend.

Lovely ladies with a penchant for past times…read more Sugarfoot Stomp started their swinging nights at the Sunflower Lounge back in 2004 and were the first in recent years to dedicate a night to music from the 1920s to the 1960s. Their aim is to play good music, do something different and bring fun and dancing wherever they go. "Doris, Daisy, Dixie, Daphne, Dorothy, Dorkas and Dakota are a group of good-time-ladies sent to scintillate the ears with all fine music from the 1920s-1960s." I will admit to knowing these ladies fairly well but that doesn't take away from the fact that they are passionate about putting on great nights and making them more than just somewhere to have a drink and dance but a whole immersive experience that can include visuals and hand-made decorations. They generally now hold their events at the Hare & Hounds but can often be seen popping up at festivals across the country and have even been featured in Dazed & Confused Magazine. There are now several similar events but Sugarfoot Stomp is the original and still the best :)

I should declare…read moresome interest at this point and say that some of my dear friends are involved with Sugar Foot Stomp, so I suppose you must take my review with a pinch of salt. The theme of the night is old skool music, and by old skool I don't mean early Hip Hop, I mean music from the 1920s, 30s and 40s. In fact, I suspect they've never played a record at these events that is younger than them. The ladies who run it put in a lot of effort to making each event special and generally have a lot of fun whilst they are doing it. This enthusiasm is infectious. You'll be sure of a good night at the Sugarfoot Stomp.
