Recently used this guy following a search online for a local Coventry based DJ and children's entertainer. We didn't expect and awkward scruffy man straight from the "Phoenix Nights" catalogue. Things he did good; - Was punctual - Equipment and sound system were good - Played songs requested Things that were poor; - Constant commentary over each song played - Lack of inclusion for children during games (sitting some children on the floor for extended periods of time) - Sweets and prizes offered to children were not clean or hygienic - Inappropriate comments to the children - Acting as a control freak when it came to how the party should be conducted (physically removing balloons from children's hands because it would 'spoil the party') - Shoved his finger in my daughters face as she was about to blow her candles out (something I am still shocked about). - Personal appearance and hygiene was not appropriate for someone conducting a public service. And at the end he even handed out old stained business cards to all the children. We've had to apologise to other parents about it. To be honest the children were not too bothered, although they were some eyes rolled and disappointment when he made them sit on the floor and removed the balloons. Will not use again! read more

Thought i was booking the best children's dj around for my sons 4th birthday. Couldn't believe it when Russ walked in. He was getting on abit. He had a bubble and snow machine both of which i had to prompt him to use and when he did the kids got one short blast of snow and were disapointed when he never used it again. He put the bubbles on for all of 30 seconds. I kept having to go over and tell him to change music none of which he listened too. I thought i was paying for a children's entertainer aswell as dj but he just stood there watching them all play on the bouncy castle as he had no idea how to host the party. He asked the children if they wanted to play the okey cokey and they just ignored him. At one point he brought out a limbo stick and left it in the middle of the room as he hid behind his creaky old decs on wheels. And when he took a break all he did was walk around after my mom and rub her arm and standing uncomfortably close to some of the women. He even drove off with the photobooth guys extension lead when he left however he did return this as i rang him straight away telling him he needed to return it. Really disapointed for £160 read more

Absolutely dreadful. I booked this company for a christmas children's party on 21st December 2014. They appointed a DJ to do the job from their team who clearly wasn't an experienced children's DJ at all. The games and fun they advertise on their website didn't happen - I had to ask for a game to be held and the best the DJ could come up with was musical bumps. They had a snow machine but that was it. To be honest I could have bought the lights and snow machine myself for less than £100.00 and bought an IPOD to the party - in doing so I'd have saved myself £130.00. Furthermore once I paid my deposit I heard absolutely nothing from them. No confirmation of booking, they didn't once contact me to confirm arrangements or anything. In the end I had to call them on the day of the party to check what time they would arrive etc. I think they just expect you to be a mind reader and know all this but in the abscence of any booking confirmation or paperwork the least they could do is call. Do not waste your money with this company. read more

We booked this company for our daughter's 8th birthday party yesterday. The website is very good and promotes them as professional DJs experienced in kid's parties. In advance we were asked what floor of the building the party was and if there was a power source but nothing more specific. We were told they would arrive at 3.15pm and they had asked us to get the guests at 3.45pm for a 4pm start. They actually arrived at 2.30pm when we had only been in the hall 15 minutes and were busy setting up. There was no greeting or introduction, however there was immediate moaning about access as they were not able to get the van right to the door and a few minutes later more moaning about the location of the available sockets. There were 2 gentleman, one was elderly and the other younger, neither of them were smartly dressed or in any sort of recognisable "uniform", we perhaps expected something brightly coloured or a T shirt with their logo on or for them both to look like they were representing the same company. Any questions we asked i.e about what music they were going to play were not met enthusiastically, almost as if how dare we ask about our own daughter's birthday party. It would have been nice if they had actually come to seek our opinion on what we thought she would like rather than us have to go to them and get a surly response. They were perhaps upset that we hadn't provided more help to bring in equipment but as mentioned we were still setting up the rest of the party and at that point only 2 of us there as they were 45 minutes early (although don't get me wrong I'd rather early than late). To be fair they had lots of good equipment and the party went very well music wise and they certainly engaged the children for the duration of the party and but that part of it was ruined by the attitude particularly of the younger man towards us. He was unfriendly bordering on rude, we expected someone friendly and polite. He went out mid way through for a cigarette which I did not think was entirely professional. We were asked about smoke alarms and whether they could use the smoke machine and we said no as it was a school hall and undoubtedly there would be smoke alarms, it was implied that previous people had turned smoke alarms off but we would have been unhappy to do that as safety would have to be a priority. Also the older man was chatting on his mobile phone which was clearly heard by all during the gaps in music for the party games at one point. At the end of the party my husband and 2 brothers helped them carry all the equipment back outside although there was still more moaning about the distance even though they weren't carrying the stuff. I had provided a bag of prizes which they could not possibly have used all of and they conveniently took this with them despite me saying I would have any remaining items back. They left without so much as a goodbye. So all in all good music but completely unprofessional looking and downright unfriendly. I don't think it would be too much to ask to appear smart and smiley! All the testemonials on their website are great ( as you would expect) I just hope this helps someone else from booking them and being disappointed. If you want good music but don't care about the appearance then I would recommend them for the music alone but personally I think the whole package is what you pay for and we felt rather let down. read more

Whilst decorating the venue for my daughters party, in walks a scruffy looking elderly man who never in a million years did I think would end up introducing himself as the DJ I had booked. Wearing filthy trousers, he makes his way over to the corner of the room to set up - whilst my heart sinks. His actual disco equipment was actually very good, the lighting/smoke/bubbles etc, but the children had difficulty understanding him. When he was playing music from "Joseph" as the children arrived, I asked him to change it to something they would recognise to which I was made to feel like I'd really put him out. He seemed unapproachable and not particularly the energetic/funny/happy DJ I had really hoped for. I will not be using his company again. read more

booked Russ for my daughters 11 year old disco party..was not disappointed, he was excellent. not only did he play all the latest tunes and her favourite playlist, he kept the kids entertained with dancing games and the best game, limbo..the kids loved every minute and the parents were really impressed with Russ and he had some great comments. Would definitely recommend RASCALS .. read more

We had Rascals Disco for our daughters 7th birthday party in March 2013 and after previously using them was expecting the great party we had experienced then...fun packed and entertaining. Sadly this is not what we got!! With the money we paid I had at least hoped the kids would be engaged but all we had was a basic disco...complete with abba and 80's classics (she was 7!!!). What made it worse was that we called to complain and was shut down completely and made to feel like the man had done us a favour by turning up as he had been ill, we were told that the complaint had been logged and they would call us back. As this didn't happen I sent an email expressing my unhappiness which I'm still waiting to hear back from...although they were quick enough to reply to my initial email enquiring about their services. All in all I was deeply dissatisfied with them and will definatley never use them again!!!! read more
