These monthly night at The Hare & Hounds are original, novel and, well, charming.
On the decks are DJ Doris, Daphne, Dixie and other delightful D's playing music from the 1920s to the 1960s. They tend to spin lots more music from the earlier period, so you are more likely to be hearing Andrews Sisters than The Righteous Brothers.
The venue is usually decked out in gingham bunting or decor that suits a particular seasonal theme, and bowls of sweets scattered around the room add to the slightly twee, but always fun, atmosphere.
Sometimes there are games too like the ones that you might miss from children's parties. The Sugarfoot Stomp is a place to let your guard down and to have genuine old-fashioned fun.
Although the room tends to fill up after 10:30pm, get down early to bag a table in the William Morris wall-papered room. read more
