Always a favorite destination for 30 plus years! The staff is very helpful and Krin the owner is incredible! I make a destination at least twice a year to travel down from Minnetonka. I spend a couple hours getting totally outfitted for the current season from head to toe! I have terrible feet, and the staff knows what will work for me and be comfortable. They carry great brands and know their stuff! My guy has recently been shopping there as well... he's looking pretty updated and cool! My parents loves coming here. They say the boots are very high quality. The socks last for years! And theyve never had a problem with low quality stuff before. All around highly suggest it to the Northfield community! They also have a website (obviously) easy to use. Fair prices. Only suggestion would be to have more deals! I would love to shop here with my parents more often. It's just a bit pricer than we can afford. read more

I try to support local merchants whenever possible. Let's keep the dollars in our community. Store owners provide a level of customer service you can't get online. Today I walked into Rare Pair looking for a pair or shorts. An employee is chatting with two people. They are blocking the walkway and completely oblivious. The employee doesn't utter a word - no greeting, no interest what so ever. We look around and it is clear that there is no interest in our presence. We walk by the employee who doesn't say a word as we exit the store. I understand that retail is a tough business and it's a huge challenge to compete with Amazon. My wife and I have made many purchases at Rare Pair, but it will be a while before I return. Today Amazon deserved my business more than Rare Pair. read more

The Rare Pair is my favorite place to shop in Northfield! It's pricey, because they carry high quality merchandise. The sales staff is extremely helpful. They are tireless in helping me to select shoes--no one has ever gotten frustrated when I need to try on multiple sizes, styles, etc. The staff is also very helpful at coordinating outfits or suggesting accessories. This is a great place to go for gifts. They do beautiful gift wrapping with no additional fee. Returns and exchanges are a breeze. The Rare Pair is particularly good if you're looking for: -good quality shoes, like Dansko and Frye and Birkenstock; -high quality casual menswear; -well made accessories, like one-of-a-kind jewelry, Smartwool socks, and purses; -gifts or gift certificates; they've got something for everyone! read more

A decade ago I loved this place. Now it's mostly cheaply made (but pricey) clothes, and decent quality (but the same) basic boots and shoes you can get anywhere (and definitely cheaper at sierratradingpost). I like to support local whenever I can, and I guess for Northfield this is the hippest thing around, but the staff here have been so consistently snotty that I just have to leave. read more

I am going to Yelp about my great experience with my Hunters! No water entered and did a number on my Darn Tough socks (also purchased at this store in beautiful Northfield on Division street) as Tinkerbell, the family dog, and I navigated some heavy waters on our normal walking path. I have had such difficulty buying shoes online that it is great to have a store so close to the twin cities that offers such personalized shopping experiences. I bought a good pair of sandals for a trip, discovered while out of country they were fitted incorrectly. Upon returning to the store I was told correct fit was the customers responsibility. If you are going to get poor or no service, there are cheaper and better places to shop read more
