In a few short words - I love Uptown Realty. I had the pleasure of working with Scott Graham who…read morehelped me purchase my first home. To say that I was completely ignorant of everything that went into searching for a house is an understatement. I think it'd be understandable for anyone to lose patience with someone who couldn't make up her mind about what she wanted in a home or what she could afford. Scott never made me feel like a burden or like I was uneducated about the housing market. Because he knew that I was a first-time home buyer, he took extra time during our showings to point out important things to take note of that I may not have otherwise paid attention to. He also went into detail about purchase agreements and other contracts to make sure I understood what I was signing. He was always prompt in his email and text responses and made me feel totally valued as a client. I tried working with other realtors from larger firms - mostly because I got a cash incentive from my insurance company to do so - but they very much had a sales mentality or weren't willing to compromise with my expectations or timeline. I ended up foregoing a $600 cash bonus to work with Scott because the impression he left was so much better than the other realtors I tried. He was the only one who I felt I could trust completely. Not only was Scott an excellent realtor, but also he became a great friend of mine. Although I'm so excited to have bought a home, I miss talking to Scott every day and driving around like mad men to showings. I couldn't be happier with my new home and with the person who helped me get it. Thank you, Scott, for everything you have done for me!

Yep. I live here. And no, this review will not give me a discount on my rent. Baker, however,…read morewill probably give YOU a discount for moving in! Okay, enough with the advertisements.. or else you will have to pay me, Baker Management! On my hunt for the perfect boyfriend, uh, I mean, brownstone with built-in cabinets, wooden floors, octogan-tiled bathroom, and a sink NOT from the 1920s (those are the one-tub, hanging sinks with no counter space), I finally came across my apartment building. But this love story was no easy battle.... I scoured on-line dating sites (ala Craigslist) for hours and decided to get all of my apartment dates done in two days. Yes, that's right. Two days. And twenty-two, three, six apartments later, I had an older, uber nice gentleman by the name of Paul showing me a Baker property apartment. I was completely in L-O-V-E. I mean, I had been through A LOT the last couple of days: 1) I met a lot of men, uh, apartments, that were incredibly small. I literally had to shimmy in between the sink and the stove. So, yes, size dooooes matter. 2) Some of the places had odd layouts. The fridge in the foyer, the stove in the closet, and "oh? you want to put a queen-sized bed here? Yeah, only if you angle it at 83.5 degrees and lean it against the wall." Please, don't be weird. 3) I understand you're only a block from Hennepin, but hrello?! I still have to park eight blocks away, so why don't I just find an apartment eight blocks away? So, yeah, you may look good on the outside and may be popular, but I still gotta work my tush off to get to you - not gonna happen. 4) I walked in to a half-naked girl with head phones on who forgot her apartment was up for show! Okay, whenever there's another girl... and she's half naked, that's an auto "it's over." 5) When I saw the Baker apartment, my heart started fluttering. I saw pictures of our future together. I saw myself building a life with this apartment. I just knew... it was "the one." The next day, I dropped off my application and payment forms. Two days later, I was ready to move in! Everything was just happening so fast. Everything with Baker has been incredible. And ever since my first day as a resident, they have helped me with countless, ditzy things: 1) I couldn't get my stove to fire up. Yes, Nadine, plug it in. 2) My faucet kept leaking under the sink. Yes, Nadine, tighten it up. 3) My door key went missing. Yes, Nadine, changed locks coming right up (and this was at 730 in the morning). They have a five or six properties around the Uptown area with tons of residents. But everytime I've called, they've known exactly which apartment I live in. Creepy? Nah, just nice to know that they actually know their residents. Bottom line, I am in love. Love. Love. Love. Yeah, it's a block up Lake Street. But heck, at least I know there are cops around my hood... like all. the. time.

Super friendly and responsive management. They were always so respectful of my pets as well. I particularly enjoyed interacting with Troy and his son and they always stopped to chat with me and catch up - really the nicest people I've ever dealt with through an apartment rental. I no longer rent from them only because I moved out of state. You can trust these folks will treat you with respect and transparency and address any issues you have ASAP!

Olympus Properties - The mice were eating the food off of the traps. The traps were useless because the building itself was so infested with mice.

As winter started hitting the mice infestation grew worse and worse. It was to the point where we couldn't enjoy our apartment because the mice were so comfortable in out until. We kept up with cleaning due to the fact that I had a 9 month old baby at the time. While he was learning to walk it was hard to allow him to learn because of all of the mouse traps and mice on the floor. We rarely cooked due to not wanting to attract them with the smell and the heat. We removed all of our pots and pans and everything in the cabinets because we saw them crawling in and out of the cabinets. My father came to seal some major holes under the since and in the bathroom because maintenance did literally nothing. Maintenance was so useless that we called the Minneapolis Department of Health to come and inspect our until. Where we learned that it wasn't just our until that was infested with mice- mind you, we lived on the 2nd floor. We also learned that the mice were running throughout the whole building and was just stopping through different units. On my move out day a man asked me how it was living in the Whitter Apartments and I told him we had mice. He then proceeded to tell me his daughter lived there the year before and ALSO had mice. This is an ongoing issue and it's gross and ruins experiences and is very disappointing due to the way it is portrayed. As aide from that, management is not helpful under any circumstances and is very untimely. It is confusing who is the actual manager. Really reconsider if you were planning to live here.
