A very good hostel in a great location. It's near the Galata Tower, just a few meters from a beautiful cafe with a open-air rooftop restaurant. That said, Rapunzel itself has a rooftop covered patio which is lovely to experience and to eat breakfast in. It's only a short walk to the main bridge to cross into the historic areas either by tram or walking. Walking uphill from the hostel, it's a short way to the main nightlife street/district, which is quite the experience. The hostel itself is on a quiet small street and I never had any issues with street noise.
Breakfast is provided, though it's not buffet; it's a very specific plate of stuff, whether you like all of it or not. I thought it was decent, though. The dining room is pretty small, which makes for a cozy experience and naturally conducive to socializing with your fellow hostelers. There is another common room as well for generally sitting around. Left luggage is available.
I stayed for three nights in a room for two with a friend for €60, which was a great value, given the quality and the area. Be forewarned: No elevator if I recall correctly, and lots of stairs if you're in an upper level. The bathrooms were good quality for a hostel and building of that age, and I never ran out of hot water. Can't speak of the electrical outlets since I only shared a two-person room so it was pretty easy for us.
Lastly, they had some public transit cards to borrow which was nice. They're moderately hard to obtain in Istanbul. read more
