I never had any problem with gear change and the chain was replaced 2 years ago and nothing was wrong with it. It was amazing that Paul Reeks decided to by-pass me and impose on me some unnecessary repair and cost of £300 without even informing me about until it would be too late! When I told him over the phone he cannot make decision on my behalf, he nicely cut off the line. When I came to collect my bike, gear change and few other bits had been dismantled, but Paul Reeks did not bother to put it back. It was obvious that the bike wasn't even checked properly, but the intention was to replace some parts and put £300 dosh into his pocket.

I'm not a regular customer, in fact this was my first time using "Meccanica " but the welcome was warm and friendly and the service fantastic. The job was a relatively small one but attention to detail was impressive and in addition when the bike was rolled out of the workshop a number of points including all levers, centre stand and side stand had been freshly lubed. An excellent level of service for seriously minimal cost.

Anyway, scooters have become very popular as a means of transport and travel to work for Londoners with the advent of the congestion charge and the increases on road tax etc. These guy's are scooter world know there stuff and can offer new and used Vespa's and also the weirder Piaggo brand (three wheelers etc). They also offer all the accessories, gloves, helmets, the all important locks, jackets as well as servicing and legal information. They have good stocks in the showroom and usually some used stock if you do not want to buy brand new and can also offer finance on both new and used. When I was there they had some really old one's on show, it took me back to the eighties and Brighton beach.

A new Vespa somewhere like this will set you back between £2,000 and £4,000. But there's cool in London as obviously you don't pay congestion charge or parking or anything annoying like that. This place also sells a good range of clothing, coats, stuff for the pouring rain and stuff to protect you and ensure you don't leave half your face behind in the event of a nasty encounter with a bendy bus. A really good helmet is around £200. This is a nice small shop too so it's a good place to come if you're not sure whether you want a bike or not and the guys can talk you through all the license and other requirements too. Plus the sales pitch is subtle and careful - always a good thing.

They sell pretty much everything you might need that you wouldn't need a mechanic to sort out. Many parts can be ordered if need be, and although they have shifted their focus towards silly neon lights and glowy things to stick to your car (basically stuff that 17 year-old boys would buy for their Citroen Saxos) they still have a good selection of tools, cleaning materials, camping equipment and other regular spares. And they sell bikes. Again not the best bike shop compared to the likes of Cycle Surgery but the bikes they sell are decent value and good enough for most people. This branch has a decent sized car park which is pretty good considering how close it is to Central London.
