I had several trips with Northwoods Cab that were time-critical: one returning from an event that ended very late in the evening a few miles out of town and one very early from the Inn to CWA for the first flight out at the airport. Nothing but praise for the job Northwoods did. I dealt with the owner and two different drivers, and everything from the reservation process to the pickup was precisely timed, and the drive itself and drop off could not have gone better. It appears there aren't a lot of options for cab service in Wausau but I can tell you from my perspective and experience as an out-of-town visitor and frequent business traveler that Northwoods Cab delivered the goods. I actually thought the fares were extremely fair, honestly lower than I thought they'd be, especially given the distances covered. And the precise and courteous service was as good or better than I've experienced with cab services anywhere and anytime.

This is my 2nd business trip to the area and finding transportation is extraordinarily stressful. At least these guys showed up. There were no rental cars available, and I was still miles and miles away from my final destination. There was a hotel room available somewhere in Rhinelander, but I couldn't get to it if I wanted to. I searched the depths of the internet to try to find a solution. I found an article... a feature piece in a local newspaper - about the only Uber driver in Rhinelander. "I'm screwed," I thought to myself. I dialed every Rhinelander taxi company that I could find on the internet. Most of the phone lines were out of service, or they were just closed and couldn't help me. "This is not good," I said out loud, to myself. I called the only person I knew from the area and they suggested hitchhiking. "I'm not doing that. That's a hard pass from me, dog." "People are friendly around here, you'll have no problem!" was the reply. The problem was, I thought that I was out of options. So I did the logical thing. I systematically asked everybody getting off the same plane as me if they were headed to the same area I was, and if they'd help a fella out with a ride. A lot of weird looks. I mean, I've never seen people look at me with so much skepticism. I'm not sure if it was my pink shirt or my overly bright smile at midnight, but I got a whole lot of no's, and they came really fast. As every inch of hope drained from my body, one very sweet old lady offered to have me spend the night in a spare bedroom at her lake house before trying to find my way in the morning. This was a nice offer, but it felt a little weird. I did not take her up on the offer, but she did dive into her wallet and pull out a card for Eagle River Taxi. "Honey, I called these guys 2 years ago and they were very helpful. At least I think it was two years ago. Good luck." So I dialed. And waited. And then the voice of an angel crackled through the other end of the phone. That angel? That angel was Kurt, the dispatcher. Our exchange went something like this: "Kurt, I can't thank you enough." Kurt - laughing - said, "We're a taxi company, this is literally what we do!" The delivery made me laugh really hard, and a special relationship was born. Kurt dispatched the very friendly, well-bearded Paul. Paul and I traded jokes and stories the entire ride up. The service was excellent, and I booked two more sizable rides over the next few days. I would recommend Eagle River Taxi to anyone and everyone. Heroes. Total heroes.

Way to make money would not recommend. To decline a call from a customer that scheduled ahead and its the second time this has happened. Go ahead, I don't care. Called and the manager never apologized. Said he'd address it. He was half my age, bad back, both ones shot, service connected disabled vet, best not to get out. So this is how I address it. Your driver is lucky he's not in jail. Next time he will be. Yellow vest all front teeth, knocked out I assume. Get a new driver
