I saw Dr. Merriman in November 2025 at Sutter CPMC-Van Ness campus after I was transported from Sutter Roseville. I am thankful and grateful I was and still am under his care! While I was in the hospital, he saw me everyday to check in to see how I was doing. He took the time to thoroughly, clearly and respectfully talk with me and my family until we understood the what was happening with my liver, and why. I have been living with Metastatic Breast Cancer for 21 years and he considered my condition unique to me, instead of a cookie cutter approach toward my liver health. He followed his instincts to determine that I had a genetic condition that can cause harm to my liver. He coordinates with my oncologist to come up with a treatment plan and I am very confident in his assessments. As an aside note, all of the care I received at Sutter CPMC-Van Ness from every health care professional (doctors, hospitalists, nurses, aides, case workers and even the gentleman who cleaned up my room) in ICU and on the "regular floor" was some of the best I have ever experienced. I saw Dr. Merriman after my surgery in hospital earlier this year looking and feeling horrible. I was kinda no was still "loopy" from the anesthesia so I was out of sorts. I remember his kindness and taking good care of me. I found out I had Hep C 6 years ago during a full blood panel.. I'm 73 yrs old and found out that I contacted this virus back in the 70's when I had a blood transfusion.. After more than a year of being lead to believe I had a serious liver condition to include expensive and needless liver scans and phlebotomies, I asked to consult with a liver specialist. I was referred to Dr. Merriman and due to COVID I had two video conferences with him. In 2008 I was diagnosed with fatty liver disease, almost at a cancer level. After I was diagnosed with this disease, I then got the bad news that I also had Hep C.
