Our first experience at the RGS we accidentally parked in the bus zone directly out front. Not realising it was a bus zone, we were asked to move by the staff which was absolutely fine, but as we were leaving to move the car, we overheard the staff behind the counter whisper "I cant believe they parked in a bus zone", which was unnecessary and rude.
The second time we came at 3:10 in the afternoon on a Sunday and were told that they had stopped serving food at 3pm even though google said they were open from 10am-8pm. We would have spent at least $50-$60 and there were no other customers in sight.
The third time we came we made sure we were there before 3. As we were ordering our food we asked if we could get bacon on one of our burgers. The waitress didn't seem sure, which was strange as bacon is listed as a side on the menu. But she said she would ask and let us know. She then proceeded to charge us, with poor communication as to whether or not she was charging us for the bacon or not. She brought out our burgers and there was no bacon and that was that. The burgers were tasty but incredibly messy. Whether or not she actually asked the chef, we don't know because she didn't tell us. Poor. After our meal we got ice creams to takeaway. A double scoop cost $6 and each scoop was the size of a ping pong ball. Was the ice cream laced with gold?
The last time we came was a Saturday night at 8:30 with 5 hungry people wanting take away adding up to over $150 profit. There were approx. 5 staff on and 15-20 people dining in. We were told that they shut at 8 and that they did not do takeaways after 5 on a Saturday night. I'm sure your profits would exceed if you realise you're a burger place in Ranelagh in the Huon Valley, not Brunswick, Melbourne. The Indian place we went to instead were closing as we arrived but saw how much money they could make and continued to serve us anyway. That's the difference between a pretentious business and a successful business. It seems every time we visit, there is something negative to walk away with. The customer service is average and at times make us feel uncomfortable and like its a burden for them to be serving us. Again, it's just Ranelagh. read more
