Dr. Oh managed my care initially, but I felt that my ongoing pain and stiffness were never clearly explained. Instead, I was referred to Dr. Schmicker without a clear understanding of the cause of my symptoms or a defined plan moving forward. Throughout this process, I struggled to get clear answers about why I was still in pain and what the next steps should be. Communication and follow-up have been lacking, which has made an already difficult recovery more stressful and costly. I'm sharing this to highlight the importance of clear communication and guidance for patients going through long recoveries.

When you call to schedule an appt, you get someone in a foreign country who only knows a script. Frequently the accent is so strong and cannot be understood. They have a policy that they are not required to provide you with your own test results. I thought this was illegal, but there is some loophole. I can only guess the more info you have of your own health could put them at some disadvantage. They are run by business people, not doctors. I have recently been threatened with a collection agency to get a (paid) $15 from a year ago. The patient portal is totally unsatisfactory. You cannot just look up when your last doctor's appt was. You have to know when it was, which defeats the purpose. You have to pay for parking at Ridge Hill, by a system on a cell phone requiring a great deal of info including credit card info. It is time consuming, then there is a substantial walk to the facility. If I could rate it zero stars I would. rate it zero stars I would.

I think this guy has a split personality or something. (Dr. Giampietro and Mr. Hyde?) The first…read moretime I saw him, he was extremely nice. I have some medical concerns, and he really showed empathy and seemed very helpful. We scheduled a physical exam for me, and talked for quite a while. I changed my HMO information to make him my primary care physician, and I was glad to have found someone good. When I showed up for my physical exam, he had forgotten my chart at his main office, which is in New Rochelle; so he didn't do much of anything. This would not have upset me except that he was also extremely unhelpful. All of a sudden, since he didn't have my medical history in front of him, he didn't believe a word I was saying. What?! He didn't even tell me to have my physical rescheduled, and at that point, I didn't feel like coming in again for it. After that, I needed to call him for a few things--referrals, prescriptions, and one illness. Each time I called, I would manage to actually get him on the phone, which is unusual for doctors these days; but he was extremely unhelpful! One time, I needed refills on some prescriptions. I spoke with him, and he said he would refill them, but that it was still too early to do so; he told me to call back in a week (when my medicine had almost run out), and he'd refill them. Guess what? I called back, and he refused to refill them! I wound up in a serious bind. I must have called 4 or 5 other doctors I'd seen before (at some point in this lifetime), just to get those prescrips filled in time. It was a nightmare. I wound up switching to a different doctor after that. My new doctor can barely hear, but at least he's nice. :P
