As an update to my earlier post on September 17th, I am STILL if you can believe it, waiting to receive my payroll deposit from the City of Edmonton job I had earlier this month!! :( 1st response from my Recruiter earlier this week on the 22nd: 'I'll have a look and get back to you ASAP.' All this past week, he hadn't gotten back to me, so I figured as today's Friday, the screw up would have been straightened out and I would have received my deposit. Nope! 2nd response when I checked my RBC account and again, the e-mail response from my Recruiter when I had e-mailed him earlier today: 'I'm not sure what is holding it up, I have sent a message to our payroll department to follow up with them once more - Hopefully I can get a response as to what is causing the delay. I checked my bank account again- and STILL no deposit. Does THIS give you an idea of what you could be dealing with??? I expect much better professionalism and client customer service than what I've been getting. But it's no big deal, it's only money??!! :( read more

The people that work here are complete idiots and treat you like absolute crap. After going for 3 interviews they found me a couple jobs, I was looking for permanent, not temporary. But most of the jobs they found were just awful, nothing like the jobs they post on EdmontonJobShop.ca. What ever you do, do NOT go to randstad to find a job, I just kept sending in applications to jobs that I was interested in and found an amazing Administrative Assistant role in a huge firm. All by myself. No help from randstad. It's funny because the guy that had "interviewed" me at randstad came into our office to speak with our manager about using them as a hiring service and he recognized me and was so surprised to see that I had found my own job! What a jerk! So I made sure to tell my manager how terrible they are and she was really glad that I let her know. I'm glad to say that we won't be needing their services. read more

I have been contacted by Randstad not only once. I was actively seeking new employment and between my jobs, I also had several contacts with other agencies. So as a middle level worker who has gone to countless interviews, I do believe I have a say here. 1. Randstad: Professional. The managers I talked with were very gentle, treated you respectively. Punctual, and greatly shortened my waiting time. Randstad Rating: 5 stars. 2. Sales Talent Agency: Nice lady, only have jobs in sales, time-efficient, respect candidates. Overall pleasant experience. But could be more professional. e.g. They forgot my interview once. But since that was their long-term partner, it was not too bad. Sales Talent Agency Rating: 4 stars. 3. Executrade: Mixed reviews here. One of the recruiters I talked with was very professional. Although I had sent my resume and left several different voice messages to other recruiters, I never got any feedbacks from them. Overall, for other recruiters, they could be more responsive. Executrade Rating: 3.5 stars. 4. S.I.System: Contacted several times. Followed their procedure and left several messages. Went to the interviews. Never heard from them ever since. Should be better. S.I.System Rating: 3 stars. 5. Eagle Professionals: Contacted twice. Nice lady, polite. Though the company could have more jobs in the data-pool, the recruiter was approachable. Eagle Professionals Rating: 3 stars. 6. Adecco: Contacted once. For a big company, they could put more trust in their candidates. Stop thinking all new developed candidates are questionable and unreliable. Roevin, A Subsidiary of Adecco: Very professional and respectful recruiter. That is where the good ends. The manager was full of ego and immersed in a self-salutary delusion. Not recommended. Adecco/Roevin Rating: 2 stars. If I could give a 0 I would. Incredibly unprofessional, they do not even try to help you find work even if you are qualified. Josh set me up with one interview, made it seem like it was a sure thing and I haven't heard a thing since. I found work elsewhere and I guarantee if ever I'm in a position where we need to hire people Ranstad will not be used! read more

My experience with Randstad has been unfruitful and a complete waste of time. Its seems that they are not willing to help entry level job seekers. In my opinion ( and similar opinions from several others that have attempted to use their services) they are unprofessional and lack the skills to help anyone find employment. How this agency still stands and the staffers get paid is beyond me. Your best bet is to go to Alberta Works! read more

I don't really know how Randstad got my resume but I think I was tricked by one of their postings on Monster/Edmonton Job Shop or the like. Regardless, this has been a thoroughly frustrating and unprofessional experience all around. As I feel that this is more of an issue with the company than individual employees, I will not name names. On June 10th I was contacted for an interview and I was asked when I'd be able to come in. As I am a student and have a final to study for, I said I wasn't available until June 15th. The lady on the phone was not content with this seemingly reasonable timeline and pushed me into accepting an interview today in the afternoon. I was told that it was "an open house sort of thing" so I needed to come around 12. She also asked me where I would prefer to work and I said South or West Edmonton. She replied "oh good, one of our branches is in West Edmonton so I'll schedule your interview there". I was also told that information about the address, what I needed to bring, etc. would be e-mailed to me. I did not receive any such e-mail but I was sent access to a skill assessment (by a third-party website) which I promptly took (but was not notified of their receipt of it). By 10:40 a.m. today I had not received any e-mail from Randstad so I called the lady I had been previously dealing with. She told me that the branch was on JASPER AVENUE, and thus DOWNTOWN not WEST Edmonton. As I live North-West of Edmonton, this put me in a serious time-crunch and I also found out that I needed to prepare references (notify them, gather their contact information, write it down etc.) I'm 100% certain that HAD they e-mailed me the information they promised, I would have been able to better prepare for this interview. Consequently, I wasn't able to make it to the supposed "open house" interview until 12:20 but thought it wasn't a huge deal because the lady I had been corresponding with said "around 12". Turns out an "open house" interview means a formal appointment and I was lectured by the Randstad employee about my "lateness". I was then accused of being unreliable. This is completely bogus as I have had several jobs/volunteer positions and have never had an issue with tardiness or absences. This lack of professionalism on their part is staggering and I am both frustrated and insulted at the insinuation that I'm not a reliable employee. I have since left a voice-mail notifying them to remove me from their staff pool as I do not need Randstad tarnishing my otherwise impeccable job history. Do yourself a favour and avoid Randstad. read more

I went to Randstad based on a friend's recommendation. At first I had to call them twice just to get an interview. On the day of my "interview" every single person in the office was sitting around, doing nothing but gossiping. They passed me over to someone else who I didn't even have an appointment with and then she proceeded to be extremely fake, snobbish and rude. After which she said she would send me all the computer tests they require, an email template and an excel tutorial. She was adamant that I needed to do those things before the weekend so that she could send me placement information. It was clear they had no intention of helping me. And for the whole hour I was there not one single other client came in. After multiple days, multiple calls with different people and even an email, nothing was every sent to me!! I even spoke to her again and she said she would send it...but again never did. She didn't even apologize. On their website it states that they will be clear and honest with you if they don't think they can help you. But they are an absolute joke and very unprofessional. Not to mention extremely fake! Weeks later I got a job with the government through Staff Bureau, and what an absolute difference. Professional, on time, and caring! I have heard from a few people now that they were treated with similar disdain and disrespect from Randstad. Save yourself time and dignity and go elsewhere! read more

Randstad is a great place to go if you're struggling to get your foot in the door in government or in the city environment. Randstad has standing contracts (I believe) with both the government and city as I had temporary positions in both places. I'm not quite sure why the prior reviewer gave such a poor review. If you have minimal experience, quite often, you're going to have to take some temporary jobs in order to get permanent. This is especially true with government or the city of Edmonton as they like you to be familiar with their systems before hiring you into longer term or permanent roles. Randstad is quite flexible in terms of letting you turn down a job and they are extremely helpful in terms of finding the right fit for you. If you are in a hurry to find a position because money is tight, you may have trouble finding the right fit. However, if you are able to afford some patience, you can probably find something that will work for you. A word of advice, sometimes Randstad opportunities can be slow as there isn't any offers. The best thing to do is to follow up with your contact at their office on a regular basis to ensure they know you are eager to find a position and they will do their best to help you out. If you do well in your new found role, the said company may eventually offer you a position on their payroll! Good luck! PS: It must depend on who your contact is. As much as I want to give recruitment companies the benefit of the doubt (working with the public can be unquestionably challenging), the public at large needs to be aware of how poorly this organization runs. I'm a recent Bachelor of Commerce graduate who has been looking for work for the last 5 months. During the course of my job search I would notice on Kijiji various postings from Randstad that appealed to me, and so would submit in applications. I would conservatively estimate I submitted close to 30 applications and phoned / emailed 2 different Recruiters over the course of 5 months. To date, I haven't received a single meaningful piece of communication from this company. No follow up, no interviews, no calls, not even an acknowledgement that the position(s) I was applying for are / were filled. Emails went answered and calls to Recruiters, who were unquestionably polite and friendly, would invariably end in "I'll get back to you" - which of course, they never did. In conclusion: if you are looking for a firm that doesn't care two cents about you or your career goals, has no interest in communication - promised or otherwise - and don't acknowledge your interest in their clients whatsoever - you've found yourself a winner. Clients of Ranstad - do yourself a favour and find a Recruitment firm that actually takes the time and effort to source good candidates. Believe me, there is likely an enormous amount of untapped candidate submissions this firm simply couldn't care less for. read more

The jobs they post online are better than what they can offer you (seems like they are trying to fool people to sign up with them). Even if you call them about an opportunity you saw posted on the same day, they will say it's not available and offer something less desirable. Recruiters do not seem friendly or helpful. I felt that my interview was rushed; I wasn't even notified that the job I originally applied for was no longer available. I highly recommend trying a different agency. read more

UNPROFESSIONAL AND ONLY CARE ABOUT YOU WHEN THEIR MAKING A BUCK OFF YOU. I had been going to Randstad for temporary work for a number of years and always was told they understood if I do get a permanent position somewhere they "totally get it, you have to look out for whats best for your future" which never was a problem they always assigned me work when I needed and I always preform the duties I need to do. One time Randstad's Mike Pabian and Josh set me up with a new client of their's - this was the first time they had this client and Mike was really eager to send me in. Encouraged me and made sure everything lined up - I walked through interviews and crushed the tests they gave me to prove I was qualified. Upon my experience with the job Mike checked in responding to an email of mine, I expressed concern and told him I felt the job was challenging. They had someone training me and she was nice to me, but the company expected me to know everything and be on my own after 3 weeks. Later I told Mike I may be looking for a new job at the end of the week because I don't feel comfortable with the job, yet he still encouraged me to stay. Gave me a spiel about how he will talk to them and even told me they thought I was doing well. Surprise after that week was up I was let go and I contacted Mike to let him know. He said he would contact me after he spoke to the company just to get feedback on what happened. I didn't hear anything from Mike. I was fortunate enough to land a job same day however after a month I wanted to know what had happened to Mike since he did not even contact me in regards to even trying to get me another job after (what if I was looking still?) And I have been with Randstad for a few years, they know my work ethic and keep employing me so they know I am capable of doing work when I am qualified. However upon calling Mike I was told he wouldn't be representing me - so is this why he didn't call? How can a company dismiss a client without any reason (he did not specify just said he wouldn't) on top of that a client which has been with your company for more than 3+ years. It didn't seem like a problem when he was pushing me to go work for this new big client of their's even when I told him I was struggling in it - is this what you call encouragement? And how is it professional at all that he did not even both to follow up afterwards, it seemed like once he was done with getting paid from that client he didn't need me since I was no longer meeting the qualifications for the job they required. Never had I had a bad experience with any of the other Randstad employees I dealt with however this experience was totally unprofessional. And it definitely says alot about a company when their intern tells you that it's a "dog eat dog" industry working as a recruiter at Randstad. I suggest people consider this before going with a recruitment company that doesn't really care about you but more about what you bring in for their cheques. read more
