He came up with a unique drawing of an anchor that I had wanted but it was even even far better than the many that I had researched. It was a very detailed design, and it only took less than two hours. It turned out far better than my expectations. I was so impressed with his work and I live in Delaware, and I'm already trying to figure out dates to get back out there to have him do more aquatic work on my sleeve. Not only was he super professional, and got me in at such last minute, I was super impressed with his shop his staff and all the work that they have done over the 10 years that they have been there that I would highly recommend even traveling out of state. The prices are very good especially for the craftsmanship and experience that I had. I will definitely be doing any all of my tattoos in the future with Josh. You know you have a good tattoo artist when you are willing to travel by plane to have your work done. Thanks again Josh and Electric street tattoo. It's definitely worth it to stop by his shop and check out all the cool work that these guys do. Very clean and cool shop also.

This post is a long time coming. I've always wanted a full sleeve tattoo, but for the longest time…read moreI had no idea how to start. Like many people, I thought I could just walk into a shop and ask, "How much is a sleeve?"--and quickly realized that's not how it works. A sleeve takes time, planning, patience, and commitment. My first point of contact at Electric Street Tattoo in Ft. Lauderdale was Nick, and he was incredible in helping me plan, design, and kick off my sleeve with some major pieces. He was patient, collaborative, and made the process enjoyable. His linework is bold and crisp, and I genuinely appreciated the hours spent with him. From there, Nick introduced me to Lexi, CJ, and Lyandra, who each added meaningful pieces to my arm. Every one of them took the time to not only tattoo, but to connect through great conversations that made me feel like part of the family. To this day, I feel like I could stop by just to say hi--even without booking a session. That's how comfortable and welcomed they made me feel. While working on my sleeve, I came across an Instagram video by Carlos Gonzales at Heart in Hand Tattoo in Arlington, TX (also known for his work at Elm Street Tattoo). His video showcased his incredible ability to tie tattoos together with creative gap fillers, making the whole arm flow beautifully. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to make the trip to Texas to have him finish my sleeve. When I finally sat in Carlos's chair, it felt like we clicked instantly. He freehanded with a Sharpie, which made the planning and flow effortless, and he was both meticulous and insanely efficient. If you can handle the pain, he can accomplish a ton in a single session! He tied everything together with gap fillers and larger webs on my shoulder and elbow, and when we wrapped up, I realized he had put the perfect finishing touch on my sleeve. This journey has been deeply personal. My inner-arm soccer player was my first tattoo below the t-shirt line--visible to the world. For me, it symbolized finally being comfortable in my own skin at 40 years old, making decisions for myself instead of for others. Every artist along the way has contributed to that story, and their work is now permanently part of me. I recently saw a video of an older woman explaining why she got her first tattoo at 80 years old. She said, "When I was a kid, I got stickers for being good. I've been good my whole life--I want more stickers." That resonated with me. Tattoos are my stickers, my reminders that I've lived, grown, and celebrated who I am. So, if you're looking for artists who not only create incredible tattoos but also make you feel welcome, valued, and inspired, go see the amazing team at Electric Street Tattoo in Ft. Lauderdale--and if you get the chance, make your way to Carlos Gonzales at Heart in Hand Tattoo in Arlington, TX. These are the people you want on your sleeve journey.

I had a small cover up from a dragonfly to a bat it turned out better than I ever thought it could being so small my artist really did great with the details and you cannot see the old tat at all. I would recommend this place 100 percent its very clean and not over crowded like some shops. Also Bob Ross art videos a bonus. If I am ever in Ft Lauderdale again I will definitely pay them a visit. Man, what a great experience…read more I had been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo for some time and kept putting it off and naturally the state of the world had me delay it even more. I begun researching it more recently and then received an email notice from Yelp regarding Ink Addiction and what they were doing to stay safe during these times. I called it a sign and put in a request for a consultation. Making the consultation was easy and within a day or two I was over there, talking to the tattoo artist, Mel who would help me design my overall tattoo. I gave her the concept and outline, she did the rest. The consult took about 15 minutes and an appointment was made. There is $100 deposit you must put down to hold the reservation that ultimately goes toward the price of your tattoo. She gives you the rate and then the appointment is scheduled. A few days later I was back. Due to social distancing and such, it was just her and I in the shop. I noticed immediately just how clean this place was. I wish some restaurants looked this good. The session took four hours (exactly what she promised me). And I couldn't be happier with the results. She took her time with everything, applying ointment so my skin wouldn't dry out. She took pristine care of my tattoo and of me. She offered me breaks if needed and was really easy to work with. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with it if I tried. I have zero complaints. I always say after this I'm done, but I'm sure I'm not and I'll absolutely be going back to Ink Addiction for my future tattoo.

Well, they got their love for Snoopy from me, the collector. So, immediately, I wanted one, too. I have had four tattoos before, all cosmetic (2 eyebrows and 2 eyeliners). So this was a senior citizen whim fueled by my great love for Snoopy and wanting to have something done to match my kids. But I also wanted a purple rose, my favorite flower with my favorite color. So my daughter and I went to the shop. She had an old (not-so-good) cherry blossom tattoo redone, and I got my Snoopy with a purple rose. We absolutely love them! The artists are extremely friendly, oozing with talent, and work with you to get a rendition of exactly what you want before they ink the tattoo. (Shout-out to Jose and Cesar!) The place is very professional, clean (spotless), and bright. You even get to see the unopened ink (and it's expiration date) before it is used on you. They use a topical agent to lessen the pain. But it really was minimal and well worth it for the final product. Prices are reasonable. You can get an estimate before the work begins. P.S. I decided to add a smile to my Snoopy, and they did it the next day without any hassles and at no extra charge!

My husband and I always pass the shop by when we're headed to the restaurant next-door so finally we were able to dip our feet in the water through the Friday the 13th flash tattoo special. What I found amazing about the special was that it was extremely organized. Most shops that host Friday the 13th tattoos are always slammed, pricey, and even after waiting in line for hours and filling out forms, it's not even guaranteed that you will be able to get tattooed. Earlier this week the owner announced on the Instagram story feed that they would be hosting Friday the 13th tattoos. He listed out all instructions, and that individuals who were looking to get tattooed could come in Wednesday and Thursday preselect their artist designs and appointment times for Friday that way it insured everyone was able to get a chance to get a tattoo and it flowed smoothly for the artist. If you did sign up for an appointment ahead of time you only paid $30, if you decided to come in day of and there were appointments available it would be $50. They also offered $31 off of piercings so I went in early, decided to take them up on the special. I selected Amanda as my artist and a cute cat design. This gave me the opportunity to meet her since I follow her on Instagram and loved all of her designs, but I haven't been able to commit to a bicep piece until I could see firsthand how well she did with a smaller tattoo. I have PTSD from running into a few artist who screwed up a few of my tattoos, and resulted in cover ups or chewed up my skin so bad it left scarring. The shop was immaculate and sterile . It smelled cleaner than a doctors office. Amanda was kind quick, but did a thorough job with my tattoo I barely felt any pain throughout the process. The only time I felt something was when she decided to clean the tattoo with alcohol then there was a slight burn. I loved the end result and I hope to set up a conversation with her soon to discuss and bigger piece. The whole staff was amazing including the receptionist who actually remembered me when I came back. The owner took be by surprise at how approachable and kind he was. I've met a few others who were stuck up, off putting, or wouldn't give you the time of day. He was the complete opposite and even spoke to husband for awhile about designs for Japanese tattoos. If you're looking for a shop of talented and kind artist i highly recommend checking out one of their two locations. You can review artist profiles on their website or call if you have any questions.

They were holding a…read morespecial flash tattoo fundraiser to raise money for one of the shop artist's family, and I went to contribute to the cause. All of the staff was so welcoming, friendly, and warm. They had a waitlist going where you would put your name and phone number and the shop would call you when an artist is almost ready for you, so I was able to step out and take care of some errands instead of sitting around and waiting. I believe they're normally by appointment only, so this probably isn't a common practice for them. The shop is charming, there's lots of personality in the room but it is a small space with very limited seating in the waiting area. There is a full flight of stairs to get to the studio but no elevator (by no fault of Black Honey, just how the building is) so that's something to note if you or anyone you're with has any mobility issues. There is a restroom inside, and I was pleased to see that they offer free feminine products for anyone in need. A great touch that tells me a lot about the shop ownership! Next I had him redo a tattoo that I've had for several decades now, and he did an amazing job on it. That led to the dragon on my leg. It's incredible! Since my first tattoo was a Celtic cross, I wanted them to have some commonality. When he showed me the drawings for the dragon, I wanted a few changes (which he did, without any problems), but the colors did not match exactly. The cross was green, red and yellow and the dragon was green, red, yellow and blue. To make them more uniform, he was able to add blue to the cross. Now my OCD is at rest, my tattoos coordinate with each other and the dragon is spectacular! If I were to ever get another tattoo (and I'm pretty sure I will not), it would be from Antonio. His work is excellent and he has the sweetest personality. If you go to his shop, you'll see what I mean. I can't recommend him or his work highly enough.
