The owner was very knowledgeable and when I found out they custom make most of their stuff I decided to have my wife's 24 year old ring remade and set with her stones. I couldn't have been more happy with the quality and value I received. For our 25th I decided to get her a couple bands. A couple of years ago I had him combine some of diamond rings that I no longer wore as well as a few my mother had passed onto me and he made 5 of the most gorgeous stackable rings I could have ever asked for! Amazing work! My finance had Rand custom design an engagement ring from a photo he kept of a ring I liked over 3 years ago! It all started from Rand drawing out a Sketch on paper then My fiancé got to pick out the diamonds he wanted to go in the ring. The band was custom- double banded, and the setting was lowered because he knew I like it lower. It was BEAUTIFUL! I always knew what I wanted my engagement ring and wedding bands to look like. It wasn't until after my husband and I had purchased my engagement ring that I realized I couldn't have two simple bands of diamonds on the sides because of the way the diamond was set. We purchased a wedding band from a low quality jeweler and I was never truly happy with the way it looked. I disliked the basket of my engagement ring, the diamond sat low, and the wedding band really took away from the high quality center diamond. I came in to have my side prong tightened and Fred Meyer wanted to charge $30 to have the prom tightened and keep it for 3 days while this kind man did it while I waited and did it for free. For the past year, I haven't been able to wear my wedding set because it no longer fit. We've been discussing replacing it with a new set until my husband suggested I take it to Rand and have it sized so I can wear it temporarily until we replace it. I was told that the prongs were wearing thin and needed much attention in order to keep the diamonds secure. When my husband brought the ring home and unwrapped it, I just couldn't believe my eyes! Was this the ring I took in? They did a wonderful job repairing the prongs and sizing it. They did a fantastic job cleaning and polishing it as well...the set literally sparkles. Right when you walk in you can see the difference in quality from other jewellery stores. SO MUCH BLING! I took their advice and decided on a smaller more perfect stone from Rand rather than a larger flawed stone from another jeweler nearby. I sure am glad I did. This was an expensive purchase for me, one that I had to pay over time. They took payments on the first stone, guided me throughout the process, helped with a plan for the engagement ring and helped me look forward and pre plan the wedding ring. In the end I ended up with the same amount of carat as the flawed larger stone at their competitor and, at the advice of the jeweler we put three stones together. This gave me the ability to get a serious stone for the engagement ring and put the two other amazing stones on a payment plan to be paid off just before the wedding. We had a small issue during the process and when this happened (like another review said) we were treated like family. They were genuinely concerned with our happiness... At one point they were helping us fix the problem while new customers that came in waited. They must have already knew what I'm trying to say because they waited very patiently. When it comes to a serious purchase, I would NEVER go somewhere else after my experience with these folks at Rand. They were polite, kind and had patience with someone who had a REALLY hard time making up their mind. I was never treated like less of a customer because I didn't have financial ability to go crazy like some of their customers can. I have a very special irreplaceable necklace and a very special ring, and both needed some help. The necklace chain was too long, and the ring was about one size too large. I called three different jewelers...and the first three all told me the same thing...that they would have to "send it out" for two weeks. Nuh-uh! No way! Next I called Rand Jeweler. I was told they could adjust the necklace for me while I waited, and the ring, because of the process involved, would take a little longer, maybe a week. Because the ring is a lot less irreplaceable than the necklace, and BECAUSE THEY DO EVERYTHING IN-HOUSE, I hurried right over. Don adjusted my necklace in just a few minutes, and he polished it for me as well. He took my ring and said they'd just charge me for both once the ring was ready. Well, two days later I got a call saying my ring was ready! I went right over. They did an incredible masterful job on the ring. I couldn't tell that any work had been done...there were no marks or anything perceptible...except now it's the proper size! Amazing!
