She is very knowledgeable, a great listener, fun to talk to and always mixes up my sessions. No PT session is ever the same and she challenges me at every session to do more than I think I am capable of doing. Ciara customizes every session based on how I am doing and always gives recommendations on ways to improve and get better. Because of her sessions, my knees have improved, and I am able to go on much longer walks and I am able to do my day-to-day activities with greater ease. My hip issues have improved dramatically. RISE in Solana Beach is a small PT office but they do a great job in their space to provide an hour of great, personalized PT care. I am fortunate to have found this great office and Ciara close by.

Pain can make you a crazy person. He developed a care plan that was specific to my needs. I had so many ups and downs. The only complaint I had was there is so many patients that needed to be seen and Jenn would call everyone work so hard to fit everyone in with little notes everywhere and multiple screens up constantly there wasn't enough Physical Therapists scheduled to get the patients in. I even had to wait several weeks to get an evaluation. Believe me she had me on wait lists. The area is small but cozy and everyone works together. One issue was the room was very small, so I would be hitting my body when getting up. The PT or PTA should have moved the table out but I think they moved so this problem is probably resolved. My 2nd issue is one of the Pt or PTA used so much pressure that I had a black and blue bruise and was in a lot pain. My mom, a registered nurse, wanted me to go to urgent care as the bruising was really bad. My 3rd issue is after my prescription ran out from the doctor they told me I so come back for 12 PT more visits. They did not ask me to run that by my doctor at all. I ran it by 2 different orthopedic surgeons who said no wait until after surgery for more PT. The company then called me to schedule even though my doctors said to wait. From my experience, I do not think high of the PT at Proactive at all.

Mark is a focused, but empathetic, force in helping folks address what ails them. I'd thought I'd come to the end of my PT experiences with my Knee Replacement and, most recently, a Shoulder Replacement, but then got referred to work on my spine. Mark is an encouraging person who explains both the big picture, and the specifics of the attack plan to get better. He is also creatively flexible, responding to feedback from patients to craft a more effective workout. Mark flipped my disappointment with having to go back to PT, into a renewed motivation to address my spine, and to incorporate the weak knee and shoulder into continued strength-building and range of motion improvement. Mark's treatment team (the folks who set up the exercises, help patients do the exercises, and help patients maintain success momentum) are Jett, Miguel and Matt. These are the guys who help me get my form right, transition between exercises, and generally help with whatever a patient needs to excel. They are upbeat and full of energy, as well as perceptive enough to help patients fine-tune details of their performance. They help put each individual's plan into action; they are where the rubber meets the road. Last, but definitely not the least, is the Huge Smile patients see when they come in the front door: Mareya. She checks everyone in, and gets everyone organized for their sessions. I then phoned back the hospital to say I had the wrong number, they called the number they had originally given to me and verified it was correct so I called back. I got the same person and started in again pretending she had no idea what I was talking about. I asked her why was she doing that. She wouldn't answer. I explained that the doctor's office gave me their number and confirmed with her that they do ketamine and asked for her name because she was so shady. She would not give it to me and hung up on me. I called back several times, asking her to speak to someone in charge, and asking for her name, and why she's behaving in an unprofessional manner. She would not budge and kept hanging up on me. I was hoping to get another person to answer the phone, but it was her each time. Finally, she gave me her name "Alex" which I don't believe is true. I then called back the hospital and told them not to refer anybody to them because of her unprofessionalism. Shocking behavior from someone administering psychiatric medication. The hospital has been notified of her treatment.

This was a fabulous success and only the countywide coronavirus shutdown has prevented my return to tennis.
