The actual bartender checks you in, at the bar. There is a train track so close that every time the train passes (five times from 11pm-6:30am) it blows the horn at the crossing, jolting you out of bed...like you are about to be crushed by a locomotive. If you get to stay in the apartment, bring your own water. The sink faucet...the only one in the room...sprays like two little needle streams. You can't even fill a cup, nor am I sure you'd want to drink it. The best part -actually - was the nice staff (bartender) and the cowboy feel in the bar/restaurant area. Food was typical bar food. If you are traveling through this part of the state and absolutely need a place to stay, stop here. It's really the only choice in the immediate area.

Our entire family was in awe of the beauty of the Prairie all around on the drive to this little slice of heaven. An old yellow house on a sprawling property. Our boys got to experience what it's like out in the countryside of this part of Nebraska. They fed llama's, swung in a big old tree swing, tossed some horseshoes and slept comfortably under the sound of a rainstorm on the roof. Everything is lush and green. Our hosts are very good people to know. We ate dinner at an old café down the road and enjoyed the burgers and chicken strips for the kids. The locals here treated us very nice. I found this little town remarkable and so rich in history that it overwhelmed my senses in a wonderful way. The sky at dusk and early morning are spectacular.

There's a lovely patio area, and a beautiful living and dining area inside. The lawn comes complete with lawn games and an old-fashioned tree swing. Dave will cook up fantastic meals to order and take care of your every need. Additionally, the small (nay, tiny) town is perfect for wandering, and features a lovely playground, a (sometimes open) swimming pool, a library that's open for a few hours on Tuesdays and Fridays, a one-man farmer's market on Friday, and the Most Unlikely Place, an art gallery and cafe that's lives up to its name. The few people you find here are kind, curious, sociable, and generally delightful. You'd think all this would come at a sky-high price, but the prices are equal to or better than any of the chain hotels in Ogallala. For about 20 extra minutes of driving off the beaten path of Highway 80, you'll find an oasis of peace, beauty, and goodwill. Be forewarned, though: one night here will have you wanting more!

We find a table and right away and a young woman comes out to take our drink orders. The menu is simple with many fried items. Rocky mountain oysters were ordered as an appetizers. When we arrived, the condition of the property was unacceptable. Most concerning, the bathroom sink in our room did not have running water. Having a functioning bathroom with running water is a basic expectation when paying for lodging. The property also advertises a restaurant and ice cream shoppe, but both were closed during our stay for "maintenance." Because of the overall condition of the property and the lack of basic amenities, we ultimately had to leave and pay for another hotel. I took photos documenting the condition of the property and the issues we encountered. I have also contacted the lodge directly multiple times requesting a refund and have attempted to resolve the situation with them. I'm leaving this review because I would not want another traveler to arrive expecting what is shown in the advertising and end up in the situation we did. Please do your research and look beyond the listing photos before booking.

The breakfast manager Linda is a true gem! She's so kind and helpful. Give the delightful Linda a raise! We'd definitely stay here again.

They are dog friendly with a $35 pet fee and that's important to me as well. The printer in the business center didn't work. Front desk staff said it was out of ink. The ice machine on my floor was out of order so I had to go to another floor every time I needed ice. The breakfast is nice but unfortunately during my stay the pancake maker wasn't working correctly, They had biscuits but no gravy and there were no juices on offer so your choices are coffee or tea. I thought the shower pan was stained but when I was in the shower I I scrubbed it a bit with my foot and the dirt came up. Everything else seemed clean though. None of those things are very important when you get a great night's sleep in a clean comfortable bed, which I did, so I left content and will probably stay here again in the future.

My husband and I were able to christen the pool and hot tub. It's so big! If you're having a family gathering with kids, this is a great meeting place. BREAKFAST: There is a video on Google, you can watch to see the breakfast area and what they serve. May 2025, I stay at a lot of hotels with my job. In fact around 250 each year. I have NEVER experienced this kind of service at ANY Wyndham hotel, or many others for that matter. These folks are the epitome of what customer service SHOULD be!!! The beds were comfy, I LOVED the lighting in the room so much. RARELY does a Wyndham hotel upgrade us, especially if I didn't ask. This lovely man did it without me asking. When we showed up, he escorted us to our room. The gentleman in the morning was equally pleasant and helpful. I'm so glad we found this hotel.
