Started with olives, almonds and a carafe of local rose, which was delicious. This was followed by some outstanding bread with herb butter and caperberries, and local, Mendocino cured king salmon, which was a celiac special! It was delicious and herbaceous with avocado, caperberries and dill. This was followed by the salad greens with asparagus and bresaola. The bresaola was a great compliment to the greens and the asparagus was particularly unique - fresh, crisp, fresh and while not quite asparagus-y they were so good, a bit sweet. They were from Zuckerman Farms in the Sacramento valley. Next was a bowl of noodles and asparagus, ramps, very fresh fava beans (not firm or mushy!) and parsley, or the same over polenta instead of Italian pasta noodles for the gluten-free. It was simple, but fresh and rich and luxurious. Three for three at this point. The end point was duck confit with oranges and kumquats over wild rice with some greens. The duck was perfectly cooked, although a tad too salty. Nonetheless, we cleaned the plates. And, who would have paired rosemary with oranges (?) but it worked. The meal was finished with vanilla ice cream over meringue, topped with lemon curd, and fresh strawberries and rhubarb, both of which were not only fresh but redolent of the flavors that they appear to have otherwise lost. The wine list is small but we greatly enjoyed both the pinot rose from Scribe and the pinot noir from Drew. I remain very frustrated by all of their fees and add on costs. The culture of the Anderson Valley gracefully comes through with every bite. In fact, the food alone is worth the trip. I have been to many Michelin-rated restaurants. While the meal might not be accompanied by the chef's life story, everything about the food, the dining atmosphere, and the local ingredients is every bit Michelin quality. A few other tidbits: Kid friendly, plenty of space to play in the backyard, but no games, no pool. The sister restaurant, Offspring at the Farrer Building, across the street has the same food, but also pizza and a few other kid friendly options. Two onsite EV charging stations. We always felt welcomed, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and the rooms were clean and well cared for. Unfortunately, over time, we have noticed a significant change in both the level of service and the way guests are treated. Tonight's experience was particularly upsetting. I was included on a reservation with friends and had planned to stay at the lodge with them. My plans changed, and I needed to return home, so I stopped by the room for only a few minutes to let my friends know. While I was sitting outside the room, management came to the door and informed me that I would need to pay an additional $60 simply for being there--even though I was already included on the reservation and was only there briefly before leaving. I found this extremely disappointing and difficult to understand. I wasn't an unregistered visitor attempting to stay overnight. I was a guest listed on the reservation whose plans had changed and who stopped by briefly before heading home. What bothers me most isn't simply the $60 charge. It's the way the situation was handled and the feeling that, after years of staying at your lodge and supporting your business, the warmth and hospitality we once experienced seem to be gone. We have many wonderful memories of staying here, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. I sincerely hope management will reconsider how situations like this are handled and remember that hospitality and the way longtime guests are treated matter just as much as policies and fees.

The front entrance and common areas are the first impression guests receive, and they were not clean or well-maintained. The townhome has a wonderful layout and plenty of potential, but it also needs updating and a much more thorough cleaning. The biggest disappointment was the customer service at the front office. Cleaning needs to be done thoroughly as this is just disgusting and gross, no better than the average dirty Motel 6. It's unfortunate that we'd found this upon check-out, or else I'd ask for a different room or deep cleaning service. If the floor is not clean, I don't want to know what else is not clean. I booked this hotel in May 2026 but we traveled in late July 2026. There was no staff at the hotel when we arrived (Tuesday) but there was no way of knowing other than by calling the main phone number and hearing that we should check in next door at the Thatcher hotel. I walked over and received confusing instructions from the bartender along with the keys on how to get to our room. Up the stairs we went the first time and saw no doors with a key card so we went all around the building because of course the elevator was broken. We then tried inside again and realized the rooms were located behind a heavy door. Finally we lugged all of our things up two hot flights of stairs and into a hot room. My child had been excited to go swimming and then he realized the pool was freezing and that made him feel really frustrated. We did enjoy the huge tub in the bathroom but unfortunately the jets were broken. We also noticed there was street construction right outside the hotel but hoped it would've been daytime only, boy were we wrong. The construction went on all night and nobody was able to sleep despite a loud noise machine. Also anytime the AC turned off it would make such a loud sound in the living room that my child wasn't able to sleep. The next morning we rushed to shower and get ready and of course the power went out for about 10 minutes in the morning. Overall rating 1 star only because the main bed was comfortable. But the fact that there was all night construction right outside and the hotel didn't bother to let us know ahead of time or even tell us that they were closed and what my check in/check out instructions were made it all the worst.
