VCA Capeway Animal Hospital

VCA Capeway Animal Hospital

I love the front staff of the animal hospital. They're always friendly. All the vet techs have been…read morewonderful too. I loved our original vet up until the pandemic when we had a situation that felt very abrasive and rude, and I think about it often. After that we switched and will use two other vets from here and I've been super happy again. It is always an expensive visit, but I know my dog is cared for when there.

Unfortunately this experience will stay with me the rest of my life. Yes my cat was 17 years old…read more Yes I understand he wasn't a patient at this vet. This was on a Saturday. His vet was closed. I also have a very delicate/difficult situation where I'm unable to travel. Time wasnt on his side. Time is precious and every second counts during an emergency situation. The Capeway was open and and I'll never understand getting turned down when I first called in a panic with an emergency situation. An emergency is urgent. Even if they went fully equipped for the whole situation why couldn't have they said yes bring him in right away? Maybe he would have had a shot to live. Maybe he could have been stabilized as i was getting in contact with someone who could have then drove him to the emergency hospital. Now here I was wasting time calling other places. In a panic my mom called my aunt and asked for help after I did. She called this place as she googled who was open. So after about 15 minutes wasted they said yes bring him in when my aunt called. Why couldn't it have been yes right away? Are all vets like this? Is this the system? Why can't vets take emergency situations? Especially in my situation where i told them i was unable to get to the emergency hospital. How can someone in this field turn down the opportunity to save a life? Just a lot of unfortunate situations in this world. I wasn't expecting to bring him in for free. Ready to pay, you beg and this is how the world works? At the end of the day at least I know what illness he had and why he died. I'm honestly am having a hard time putting everything into words and how I feel. I'm sure as people read this it may get misunderstood and that's okay. In my world this is unacceptable and pets and their owners deserve better, at least in my world. Sammy did have an appointment with his vet on Tuesday, but unfortunately he passed on Saturday here. The bottom line is my cat is breathing out of his mouth can you please take him in? Answer was no. Wasted time then said yes. Unacceptable! I really really wished the answer was yes right away, then whatever happened then at least I would of had more of a peace of mind. I would have felt that they tried. That's all I wanted.

And sadly for one of my Golden's he has some trauma at an old vet back on the west coast. Add in covid and being a new patient, my Golden was a wreck to say the least. Devin the vet tech made my dog feel LOVED, understood, safe, validated and so much more for his experience. While we never cater to it, of course creating a new experience is the only way to heal from Obis past. She took the time to build a relationship with Obi and she asked questions to get to know what mattered to him (ball). Haha. Once she had my dog inside he was seen by Dr O'Brien. After his appt for a torn/ripped paw pad and having the vet do what was needed to remove it all and clean the site, she and Devin brought him back to the car. The vet was ABOVEEEE any expectations! She was so down to earth, compassionate and kind. She explained everything, wanted to create as little trauma and did what was truly best for my dog. So many vets I've seen are after the money. Dr O'Brien is absolutely there for our fluffy family members. I'd highly recommend an appt with her. And just keep your fingers crossed you get Devin. I'd i could give them more stars I would!

My little Lexi (Morkie), was really bad last year she wasn't moving and couldn't lift her head, my area vet treated her for Lyme DX. She was getting worse and worse. I took her to the MA/RI Hospital in Swansea, the doctor there was a horrible horrible person and frankly should NOT be doing her profession. Thank God I took her to Anchor after my friends told me. Lexi was treated with some prednisone and laser treatments and was perfect after about 2 weeks. The other places wanted me to just make her comfortable with tons of pain meds or take her for an MRI in which they still wouldn't do anything due to her having total numbness on her right side. Well, from now on she and my other 2 yorkie babies are Anchor members wholeheartedly, Thank you too all and to Dr. Domingues. Amazing, Awesome, Courteous, Understanding, Loving and Caring Team. Every other vet and employee here obviously cares deeply about each pet and will bend over backwards to make the owners comfortable. Dr. Kate once spent an hour on the phone with me when my cat was in kidney failure, talking through what to expect, every possibility, all the options for supportive care etc.--this was a late Friday evening when she was off the clock, on her own time. Honestly I think she would have stayed on the phone longer if I needed it. I really have to wonder about the people who left one star reviews. Have these karens ever been to another vet clinic, or for that matter a human clinic for their own healthcare? What planet are they on? I know anger is a stage of grief but why would you lash out at kind and caring professionals who are just trying to help?
