If there's one place my dad would think of going to have a meal, it would be at Yushoken. I can't count the number of times he's talked about Yushoken. Finally got to try it on a vacation back home in Cebu. I've had plenty of ramen and I can say that this is one of the better ones that I've had, even better than the ramen places in Los Angeles' Little Tokyo! The menu is simple and focuses on a tonkotsu broth. To taste the broth I opted for a shio tare. My parents ordered the shoyu, which I was also able to taste. The tonkotsu shined in my shio ramen, with the broth thick and rich enough to cling to the noodles. The chashu is also fatty, buttery and tender. The gyoza were very plump, and more meaty than most gyozas served within the city. Aji tamago was perfectly cooked as well. I'm very, very surprised at how everything was prepared close to perfection! After hearing about the ramen craze in the Philippines, I didn't expect the execution to be this good in Cebu after trying some of the hyped ramen places in Manila. At Yushoken, everything surpassed my expectations and more!

The BEST RAMEN in Cebu City!! My boyfriend and I visit here literally every week! One of our reasons why we travel 3 hours away from our hometown! It's always our first stop whenever we are in Cebu. Our orders will always be Shoyu (milky and salty/ MY FOREVER FAVE) and Tantanmen (spicy). Also try their Karaage and Gyoza!!

Ramen Nobushi - All on top (they ran out of tamago and replaced it with extra servings of chasu...what a downer!)

This ramen place has been opened for about a year now. I finally decided to try this place out…read more Place was good, nice and clean, ambience pretty balanced and bright. I planned on ordering their Kotteri Ramen but the waitress said that they didn't have it, so, I asked what they would recommend. I ended up ordering their All On Top Ramen as recommended by our server and also ordered their gyoza. After a few minutes wait, one of the servers approached our table and said that they ran out of Aji Tamago (the specially marinated egg that comes with the All On Top Ramen) which I was looking forward to eating with my ramen. I mean, I understand that they would run out of it if the place was overly crowded and many ordered it along with their ramen (since some ramen dishes doesn't come with the egg), but it's not, there was just 1 table occupied (minus the one table where the owner's kids sat and ate their meal) and it was on a midday right as they opened. Instead, they offered to replace the egg with extra servings of chasu to which I gladly accepted. Then the ramen arrived after I agreed with them. I tasted the broth first, it was okay. The broth was mild, clean, balanced, and not too salty (which I like). The noodles were thin and soft. Too soft for my liking, it was too soft that it feels like it would break down just as it enters your mouth and that you won't need to chew on it that much and you could swallow it immediately. I prefer my noodles a little between soft and firm though. The chasu was okay, it was nicely tender and not too tough to chew. One thing though, I feel like the balance of the dish was gone since it had too much too many chasu and minus the egg. That's where they fell on that part. I felt that the meal was incomplete without the tamago. A bowl of ramen is suppose to be balanced. The gyoza was meh. Maybe they just weren't ready that day I guess. I'm not the one to have too many insights but as far as I'm concerned, I've eaten at many ramen restaurants not only in the Philippines but also in Japan as well. This however is something different. The question here is..would I come back again? The answer is maybe but not that I would crave and look for it as much. For now I'd give it a 3.
