I called to ask if they provide a cervix dilator before their IUD procedures. I was told by the…read morereceptionist, "The nurse said they will not give you any narcotics just because you asked for them, because the IUD shouldn't be that painful anyway." If you are a woman considering an IUD, and you have not had a baby before, do not go to this clinic. If you are planning to use this clinic, and you have questions about the pain of this procedure, do not ask. They will assume you are drug seeking. I had my first IUD done at Robert A Mesropian Center for Community Care, in New Hampshire. Because of my size and the fact that I have never had a child, they wanted me to use a dilator the night before the procedure. I didn't know, and I didn't apply the pill until the next morning. When they put the IUD in, I was in so much pain that I threw up, and I cramped for the rest of the day. I wasn't given any narcotics from that doctor though, and there's no reason why I would expect that a new doctor would give any narcotics. But, it seems that they also don't offer any dilator's before the procedure, and this is what I wanted to get clear on. Based on my last experience, I would be too afraid to do the procedure without a dilator. Given my past experience, it's reasonable why I would be overwhelmed as I prepare to have the old IUD removed and a new one put in. It's unfortunate that the receptionist is more concerned with trying to "out" potential drug seekers than answering the questions of prospective patients. When it comes to smaller, more personal clinics, the most important thing is feeling safe as a patient. I would never be able to feel safe to share my concerns at this clinic, so there would never be a reason for me to ever go here. Anyone with similar feelings or concerns should also avoid this clinic. Planned Parenthood was much more helpful and supportive on the phone. They do not offer dilator's before their IUD procedures, but it was really easy for me to get that information. They were very kind and understanding as I explained my situation. I may just go back to New Hampshire to have it done. I will also say that I told the receptionist that I would get a recommendation from the doctor who did my first one, in order to verify how unusual my IUD experience was. I don't even think the receptionist heard me. She literally just repeated that the procedure shouldn't be that painful. I don't even know if this clinic offers dilators before the procedure, to be honest. They very well might! So, it really just speaks to the importance of professionalism on the part of the front desk.

Had an infection hit full force over the weekend, and got ahold of Hart Dentistry's after hours number. 9:00 this morning they had me in and I'm now one tooth and one massive infection less.. and so far feeling much better already! Then today, two days before, they said I had to reschedule because they were having an "analytics meetin,g," I.e. not some patient problem but internal business. I offered to come on Monday or Tuesday at 5. Nope we can't do. Would you refund me the first visit. Nope we can't do, It is like playing a game of "Mother May I". In 62 years, a dentist has never, not once rescheduled, let alone for an internal business meeting. I have had dentists come in after hours for a root canal. When a judge tells me to be in court, I don't look in my schedule book, and say, gee, judge, you are going to have to reschedule. They are supposed to be PROFESSIONALS!!! NOTE: I checked with a long dentist I had in another college town. I was informed than other than patient emergencies and a dentist getting sick, they have not in their memory (which is long) rescheduled on a patient. I suspected as much. Not sure what to do now, since they won't refund the first visit.

I was also wondering how dental offices were handling the pandemic, from scheduling to cleanliness practices. Based on the recommendation of a friend, I decided to give Design Dental a call. I'm glad I did! They made everything easy and I felt comfortable the entire time. For new patients, they split it into two visits - one to take x-rays and do a general review, and then a second to do cleaning and/or work needed. When I called they were able to get me in in a reasonable amount of time. They were limiting the number of people in the waiting room by having you call from your car to let them know you had arrived, then took your temperature once they greeted you. The hygienists who took my x-rays and looked over my teeth and gums did a good job explaining what they were doing and looking at. Dr. Schminke was amiable and also clear about the process, answering any questions I had. They were able to get me in for the follow-up cleaning the very next day, which was a pleasant surprise. During the cleaning they offered me an optional item and mentioned that it wasn't covered by insurance, so I didn't have any unexpected charges. I found everyone there to be very helpful and friendly, and the place to feel clean and well cared for.

Dr. Tu and everyone at Design Dental, were so kind to me. As a team, we came up with a plan and off we went! At the end of my treatment, I was handed a mirror. As I smiled into that mirror, there wasn't a dry eye in the room. I smiled when I walked out. I smiled when I drove home. I smiled and smiled and smiled! Dr. Tu gave me a beautiful smile.
