Our room was excellent, very modern but with cool features like old style sink faucets. Dining at the Pittman Cafe was a delight with delicious food and amazing staff. The Long Shot Bar inside the Mizpah Hotel is an absolute must visit. The gorgeous, authentic Old West decor makes you feel like you've stepped right back into the early 1900s, providing the perfect, cozy atmosphere to unwind. What truly made the experience memorable was the exceptional service. Megan, our bartender, was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. She made us feel right at home and took the hospitality to the next level. If you are driving through Tonopah, do yourself a favor and stop in for a drink, this place is a historic treasure! The ultimate highlight, though, was the stargazing site. It is a breathtaking, a must see experience that you can't get anywhere else. The stars were shining so brightly, and we even caught a shooting star! Thank you to everyone for making our time in Tonopah so memorable.

The staff was friendly, our room was comfortable, and we love the hotel's old-fashioned atmosphere. It shows some wear, but to us, that's part of its charm. There's something about the history of this hotel and Tonopah that makes us enjoy spending a night here. Parking is the one inconvenience. Spaces are limited, so we parked in the dirt lot behind the hotel. Bars, restaurants, and gas stations are nearby, which makes it an easy overnight stop. We had no complaints about our stay--except that we still didn't encounter any ghosts. Darn it!

Belvada Hotel - Good coffee! There's also a little cafe off the lobby with more options.

This was a great decision. We got one of the suites which was one of the most unique hotel rooms I've ever stayed in complete with 19th century French books and turn of the 20th century charm. Our suite was unique with a smallish living room connecting to an old timey bedroom and bathroom. Everything was clean and very comfortable. I really liked the Belvada themed shampoo and soap. I don't usually sleep well in hotels but the hotel bed here was great. We also had a nice view down onto the street and the Mizpah sister property to the Belvada. There was a coffee machine, refrigerator and microwave. We really enjoyed our evening in this room and it was perfect for what we were looking for. The location was excellent with a couple different places to get food including an A&W and a casino restaurant just across the street. There's also several shops and amenities within a block or two. Really helpful for travellers. There's also a really neat casino with all sorts of things like written checks from different celebrities and a neat stuffed bear over there. Tonopah is one of the more unique places I've ever been with the vibrant history of the late 19th and early 20th century still echoing loudly in that town. The locals were friendly. Probably one of the best places to stop in the vast, expansive and gorgeous Nevada desert.

Don't forget to visit (and photograph) the old cemetery next door filled with miners who died in mining accidents, victims of the "Tonopah plague", and a lot of babies and children. Some say the hotel and cemetery are haunted. Be respectful of where you tread if you visit the Tonopah Cemetery next door and please be mindful of the fact that you are visiting the final resting place for over 600 people. The owners of the Clown Motel are usually on site until like 11:00 pm every night and they're very friendly and happy to help you. Their souvenirs aren't too pricey so we got some tshirts, a hat, and some stickers. I'll share our favorite pics of our visit.

This motel has been featured on paranormal shows and in books as being "haunted". It has that creepy "Devils Rejects" or "The Hills Have Eyes" vibes since you are in a remote area and feels like a group of sketchy locals might be waiting for darkness to strike. When we first arrived there was construction going on in the parking lot that went on until 10pm. That was really annoying. I originally booked room #107 which is one of the most paranormal rooms and basically one of the only reasons I booked months in advance to get it. When I arrived the gentleman at the desk said he was sorry but there was an issue with room #107 and it could not be rented to me. I said told him that was disappointing since I booked this months out. I asked what was wrong with the room. He said there was a leak and could not be rented out. I opted for the 2nd most paranormal room which was #108 (The IT room). The manager gave us a few keys and said check a few rooms out since they were all empty but a couple. I was there for the paranormal accounts so stuck with #108. We took a self tour of the tiny museum. I did enjoy that and bought some merch. The museum had the vibes I was looking for. Creepy and kind clown dolls that have been donated over time. The museum is free and you can make a donation if you wish. I would recommend stopping by the museum. Once we got into the room we noticed cockroach traps in the corners and In the closet. Clearly there was is roach problem at this motel. The room just made me feel itchy and gross. I got no spooky vibes at all, no EMF activity in the room. I pulled out my blacklight and there were gross stains all over the wall, bed, and the toilet was unbearable. Me and my bro decided to sit in the parking lot at 9pm and walk the cemetery in the dark when nobody was there. As we walked outside to tour the cemetery we noticed the room light was on in room #107 and the curtain was cracked. We could see two people on the bed. I was pissed because the manager lied to me and said the room could not be rented out due to a leak, yet two people had checked into it. They probably offered to pay him more and he gave it to them. I did enjoy walking the cemetery and reading about each occupant. We paid our respects and went back to the room. After seeing how disgusting the room was we decided to check out at 10pm. We told the manager the room was too gross and could not stay the night especially with signs of a bug infestation. The manager said he knows the rooms aren't nice and he is sorry. They will not refund you if you choose to leave. They will only refund you if there is a mechanical issue or plumbing issue. I also think that is not good business. We packed our things back in the car and left for another hotel 5 minutes away. It was called the Belvada and was awesome. Also has a haunted past. 1906 Victorian style hotel. I would NOT recommend staying at the Clown Motel. It is worth seeing to go to the museum and cemetery but that's it. Avoid the rooms. I don't believe the rooms are haunted and it's a gimmick to get people to stay in these rundown rooms. I think the reviews where people say they could not stay the night wasn't because of ghosts but because of cockroaches. They need to spend less money on the outside decor and put more money into renovating the rooms. I was very disappointed and hands down worst motel I've ever stayed in!

Great staff, excellent service ,over and above,…read more ( personally id like to thank Jaimie,at the front desk, who found time to help us out in a very personal matter, which I wouldnt have ever thought possible from any place we had stayed previously, the level of consideration and humanity is a very much appreciated contribution to a society that lately seems to have forgotten what Hospitality and service are truly about. I thank you for not only your prompt help but the discretion you used as well. Thank you again for your kindness and patience as well as your genuine positive attitude twards a very sensitive situation) This person alone ,is reason enough to highly recommend this Hotel as a premier spot while mining in Tonopah, or any other activity that requires superior accommodations. And they also accepted the Cat, who has made travel at times more difficult than should be. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Thank you again, and not only would I stay again, but plan on an extended stay in the very near future.. Hopefully Jaimie is still there, in any capacity and is considered for promotion or a raise or both, she truly raised the bar in the Hospitality and service industry, I hope she starts a seminar for the rest of the hotels throughout the state of Nevada. They all would benefit from her leadership and courtesy..

It's been interesting to read reviews of others who have given the place much higher marks. However, there is a realization here that everyone has a different level of standards. Overall, we want a place that's clean and put together. We did not feel that was the case here. In other words, I could probably say it was about the worst hotel room I ever paid for. To begin with tissues from the previous guest were still behind the bed table. We left them there. The mattress spring covers weren't just dirty. It was stained and filthy. It was obvious with the condition of the way the bed was made and cords that there was no proper training on anything. There was a refrigerator in the room that when opened the ice had such a build up of ice you knew it had never been checked or cleaned. Moving down to the restaurant ..... the ketchup when turned upside down "clumped" to opening and didn't slide like fresh ketchup. The bottles of other toppings appeared to have also been there a mighty long time without being freshened up. Okay .. what did we order? We ordered two hot fudge sundaes. The hot fudge was lukewarm and clumped... After all, what did we expect? The following morning when we stopped by "Registraiton" to drop the keys off, the clerk was sound asleep in his chair. Evidently, he'd been there a bit as other keys were laying on the counter that had also been cropped off. He did look at me and grunt and then went back to sleep.

Ah, the Jim Butler Inn. I have had the pleasure of several mandatory stays here over the past few…read moreyears as the price has been within a comfortable range for my employer when booking in the Tonopah area. Though my co-workers may not agree; seasoned veterans of temporarily residing in rooms of varying decrepitude across eastern Nevada as they are, I have mostly enjoyed my stays here. The most memorable grievance expressed were that the hauntings of the neighboring Mizpah Hotel were likely mistaken as the wails of a patron at the Jim Butler Motel. My personal laments include slightly outdated, dimly-lit rooms, tight parking for the front-facing rooms, and the presence of a stack of outdated magazines in the lobby that feature my ex-boyfriend gleefully holding another girl atop his shoulders on the cover. This issue is apparently quite coveted by the town of Tonopah, as it has, like the ghosts of the town, haunted me at other motel lobbies within the city limits. Typically, outside of Covid, the Jim Butler offers it's saving grace: THE BINDER. Created by Print Shop Deluxe circa the mid-late 1990's, I have had the luxury of perusing a dedicated history and activity guide (complete with dot-matrix clip art) for the town of Tonopah. All activities defined are listed in a spreadsheet and divided by the amount of time one has to spend enjoying such activities. One hour activities, three-hour activities, full-day activities; an option is available for all schedules. The binder boasts that Tonopah has "some of the least light pollution in all of the country," which is both an amazing sentence and 100% true. Unfortunately, this timeless relic was not available due to Covid, but it is my hope to someday again sink my teeth into this bible of preference. I must give the most credit to the staff of the Jim Butler for their above and beyond nature to aid their customers. We once encountered an overnight tire leak in the parking lot for a work project last summer. We were due to leave for our project area around 7:00 am, and we inquired about the tire shop in town at the front desk, as they were listed as being open, but were not available in the shop at that point. Rather than shrug and send us away, the woman at the front desk called the home line of the owner ran the shop; effectively sending him to the shop to help us get the tire patched within the hour. When a man tore down the hill on a mini dirt-bike down the road to meet us, I had to smile and truly appreciate the kindness met with our situation. While it may not be my personal choice for a stay - I'd prefer to be haunted at The Mizpah next door, or to be surrounded by circus freaks at The Clown Motel - the people and the binder win here.
