My recent stay at the TRU by Hilton Garland-Richardson exceeded my expectations in the most thoughtful way. The team left a selection of delicious snacks along with a very kind, personalized handwritten note in my room. In today's fast-paced world, this genuine touch of hospitality and the "power of the pen" truly stood out and made me feel genuinely valued and welcomed. The service was warm, the property was clean and comfortable, and the overall experience was memorable. It's clear the staff takes pride in delivering exceptional guest experiences. Highly recommended -- I'll definitely be returning on my next visit to the area. Thank you to the entire TRU Garland-Richardson team! Rod Gray Cypress, TX Lifetime Hilton Diamond Member

I am still here until the morning, but I felt compelled to write this review early. This is easily…read morethe worst hotel stay I've ever had due to a lack of cleanliness from the hotel and it's housekeeping staff. On Thursday I asked to have the room cleaned and they did not clean it at all. On Friday I asked again. They came in and put new towels and sheets, but did not clean the bathroom. They left the bathroom with hair in the sink, speckles of feces in the toilet bowl, and some urine stain drops on the bathroom floor. All the front desk could say was sorry. I asked again today (saturday) to have it cleaned and gave them a list of what to pay attention to. They cleaned the sink. Only half way cleaned the toilet (basically just the low, visible part...up around the rim was still filthy, and just left without cleaning the urine stains off the floor. When I informed the front desk, again they just said sorry. At this point I asked if I could be put in another room and they said they didn't have any available. But yet, the parking lot is slightly less than half full. Additionally, they have a garbage can out front that has been overflowing for 2 days in a row now. This hotel is FILTHY and their housekeeping staff will cut corners and try to take shortcuts to get in an out, and the staff takes ZERO accountability. I would avoid this place like the plague, cause quite honestly, you might actually get it staying here.

The Highland is great! This is my second stay here. The first was about 10 years ago. I did like…read morethe kind of western fancy decor they used to have going on better, but still a nice hotel. My room was clean, the TV and streaming set up worked great. I loved the motion activated lights that come on at the edges of the bed and under the bathroom sink. It makes a middle of the night walk to the restroom easy, haha. The gym is a good, standard gym for a morning workout. I was super sad there wasn't any room service anymore. I had to Uber Eats my morning oatmeal and coffee and would have rather just ordered from the hotel. The room has a SERIOUS mini bar set up with full size bottles of wine (actually pretty decent bottles!), multiple larger liquors, beer, and snacks. Party out in the room if you want!

Beautiful hotel, disappointing service…read more I stayed here Monday night for a work trip, and while the property is absolutely stunning -- modern, clean, and beautifully designed -- the service didn't match the setting. When I checked in early, my room was ready (a nice surprise) and the front desk agent was friendly. We had three rooms under my boss's name, and mine had my name attached as a secondary guest. The agent told me I had a $30 food & beverage credit because my boss is a Gold member. I'm actually a Diamond member (gifted through my sister, who stays with Hilton nearly 200 nights a year), so I'm familiar with the perks and thought $30 seemed high. I asked twice to confirm, and she reassured me it was correct -- usable in the market or minibar, and could be split between purchases. I hadn't eaten lunch yet, so I grabbed a salami-and-cheese snack ($12) and popcorn ($4) from the market. Later that evening, I tried ordering room service around 9:30 PM, but no one answered. The front desk said the restaurant was busy and would call me back -- they never did. After waiting 15 minutes, I went back to the market for another snack and a soda ($16 total). That put me around $32 total, which was fine since it was only $2 over the supposed $30 credit. The next morning, housekeeping knocked on my door around 8:45 AM asking to clean -- despite checkout being at noon. Not a big deal, but disruptive and unnecessary that early. Breakfast also missed the mark. We were seated quickly and given water, but it took 14 minutes before anyone took our order. It was moderately busy, not packed. When the food arrived, a manager dropped it off. We asked for salt, pepper, and preserves -- she returned with preserves, and when reminded about the S&P, snapped, "It's on the complete other side of the restaurant." Oddly defensive. Also, why isn't salt and pepper on the tables? Breakfast for two (just avocado toast) took over an hour. At checkout, more issues. I noticed a $35 restaurant charge that wasn't mine. The front desk said the restaurant only verifies last names, not room numbers -- a huge oversight. I asked them to move the charge to one of the other rooms in our group. Then I saw I'd been billed for three of the salami-and-cheese snacks even though I'd only bought two. The agent agreed and removed a $24 charge, but when she reprinted my folio, my "$30 credit" only applied as $4.33 and $10.67 -- totaling just $15, despite confirming it three times the day before. My Uber had arrived, so I had to let it go. Later that day, I realized I'd left my white sweatshirt on the bed. I called right away; the first front desk associate was kind, took my info, and said he'd check with housekeeping and call me back. No one ever did. The next day, I called back to check in and another associate immediately got short with me, saying I "should've filled out the online form." I explained no one mentioned that before. He rattled off the website quickly, then ended the call. I googled the Hilton Lost & Found site myself, found the link, and tried to submit the form -- but it immediately asked for a "client identification number," which I had no idea how to obtain. At that point, I gave up and counted the sweatshirt as a loss. The process was confusing and unhelpful from start to finish. I worked for Four Seasons for years, so I know what good service looks like -- and none of these issues are difficult to fix. Each one was avoidable: poor communication, incorrect charges, lack of follow-through, and dismissive interactions. It's a shame because the hotel itself is gorgeous, but the guest experience simply doesn't meet the standard the property deserves.

Although the staff was friendly, overall, the hotel was disappointing for the price and location…read more At $445 per night, plus a $75 incidental fee, I expected a much better experience, cleaner accommodations, and a more comfortable stay for my family. The night we arrived, the hotel was hosting a church party, and the music was incredibly loud and obnoxious. There was food and dirty plates scattered throughout the common areas, which made the property feel messy and poorly maintained. Unfortunately, the noise continued well into the night, making it difficult to enjoy a peaceful stay. After checking into our pet-friendly room, my family and I went out to dinner. My puppy, who apparently experienced some anxiety while we were away, barked, and I returned to find a nasty note from another hotel guest. When I went to the lobby to speak with the concierge, I also reported that the bedsheets in our room had blood stains on them. The concierge offered to move us to another room, but by that point, my family and I had already begun settling in, so I told him I would simply change the sheets myself. What really bothered me was that the concierge mentioned the specific guest who had complained about my dog, yet there seemed to be little concern about the excessively loud music that had disrupted the entire night. I understand that staying in a pet-friendly hotel comes with certain considerations, and I take my responsibility as a pet owner seriously. However, it felt unfair that a guest's complaint about a barking puppy received attention while the noise from a large event, which affected the overall hotel environment, seemed to be overlooked. The highlight of our stay was Norah, who serviced our room the following day. She was an absolute breath of fresh air! Her kindness, professionalism, and genuine care stood out in stark contrast to the rest of our experience. When she left, she made me feel as though my family actually mattered and that our comfort was important. That kind of personal attention is what hospitality should be about. Norah deserves recognition for the wonderful impression she made. Honestly, please give this woman a raise! Employees like her can make a meaningful difference in a guest's experience, even when other aspects of the stay fall short. Overall, the hotel felt run-down for the price, the cleanliness was unacceptable, and the noise management left much to be desired. For $445 plus a $75 incidental fee, I expected far more than what we received. Norah was the one bright spot in an otherwise disappointing stay, and I hope management recognizes and rewards the excellent service she provided.

The check in process was super fast, the fastest and most efficient I've ever experienced. Check out process was super easy, just drop the keys off in a box and call it a day. The location is very convenient, right by 190 with many restaurants, a mall (one exit down), a walmart, a target, and 2 gas stations close by. The hotel lobby feels humid. Each area has its own "scent", the lobby, the elevator, the hallway, and the actual room. Definitely has an older scent to the whole place. The hotel is definitely on the slightly older side, so it was an overall average stay and we knew that. We didn't get a straight sleep any of the nights throughout the stay because of the fluctuating room temperature. We're both hot sleepers, so when the AC turns off it warms up pretty quickly. When the AC turns back on it gets pretty loud, the machine itself is loud and the bed is right next to the AC. We were woken up either from the temperature or the loud AC. Again, we did not have any high expectations. It would definitely made the stay a lot better if the temperature was more consistent. Bottom line: The hotel did its job.

HORRIFIC BEDBUG INFESTATION & SHAMELESS MANAGEMENT DENIAL--DO NOT STAY HERE!…read more WARNING TO ALL TRAVELERS: Avoid the Holiday Inn Garland at all costs! My wife and I stayed in Room 401 on June 21, 2026, and discovered a severe bedbug infestation. I have uploaded undeniable video and photographic evidence of live bedbugs crawling on the hotel sheets and bloodstains left behind. More tragically, my wife was brutally bitten all over her body. As you can see in the attached photos, her back and legs are covered in huge, heavily swollen, and painfully itchy red welts. She is in immense physical pain and emotional trauma, requiring urgent medical care. When we demanded a refund, the front desk deflected responsibility to a third-party site. Even worse, when I emailed the General Manager, Ali Khan, he sent a shameless reply completely denying the issue, claiming their "pest control" found nothing, and even insulting us by claiming the photos of my wife's severe injuries "do not appear to be bug bites" and that "the background is not of our hotel." They are gaslighting paying guests and trying to cover up a clear health hazard. The City of Garland and the Department of Health will be notified immediately, and we are pursuing legal action for personal injury. This hotel has zero integrity, treats injured guests like liars, and runs an unsanitary facility. Save your health and stay somewhere else!

Found this hotel using Hotwire by selecting the price and viewing the property name afterward. For just under $50/night, we secured a room here for a mid-week trip to Dallas. This place is somewhat hard to find if you don't know where it is: the sign is small, and it's nestled behind a few buildings. Just turn in when you see a Wendy's, and you can get there fairly easily. Your GPS might get a little confused though. The unremarkable exterior did not prepare us for what we found when we opened the doors here: double french doors open to a high-end-looking lobby, complete with library, several sitting areas, and a fireplace. Front desk is attentive and quick, friendly and courteous. We were immediately helped and on our way to our room within minutes. The room was clean and bigger than expected, with a full size refrigerator, two-burner stove complete with dishes, and a flat screen TV and super comfortable bed. We were nearly late to check out, we slept so well; which rarely happens for us in a hotel! The property itself is very well kept- there's an interior court yard with a gazebo and a pool. Wish we'd brought our swimming suits, because it would have been fun to relax there. Courtyard itself is full of green trees, grass, and flowers, and is well-maintained. Property also has a small fitness room, with towels provided, featuring a weight bench, treadmill, stepping machine, and a bike. As i said, we booked for about $50/night through Hotwire and were really impressed with the quality of this hotel and the customer service. Would go out of our way to stay here again in the future. Highly recommend, especially at that price.

Outdoor pool that looked nice. Since this is extended stay they change sheets once a week. You can take your towels to the front desk for an exchange. For 64 bucks a night, it works. A bit outdated but it was clean and serviceable. I think this would be good if you had your extended family visiting and they needed a place to stay. We brought our own towels, what they had was ok, just a little thin. Free wi fi, althought you could get an enhanced package and it would have run faster. We would stay here again. It fit the bill for clean, quiet place.

I was asked twice during the check-in process if I had a pet (weird, right). Then again after that I was ask to review the hotels policies. Which was a paper on the window that read no pets and they would hold a deposit in case of damages. 20 bucks. I agree to abide by the policies. I hand ovr my credit card & ID &$20 cash deposit. The room was like a studio apartment. It was clean and fairly comfy. Next day: I attemp to get a 2ND key since we have separate plans.Only to find out that I need to bring my hubby's ID to get him a key. I think hmm another weird policy but I would have complied had hubby not had the misfortune of leaving it at home (It was being overnighted to us ). I explained this to the front desk guy. I offer to make an additional deposit or whatever. Nope! He's basically like oh well! Also, I tell him that we have a second car we have rented to avoid the car be towed. As the signs everywhere say I should do. He never does record this info, which concerns me because he likely won't be there at night/early morning when the towing truck circles. I realize I wont get any help from this guy. So, later that night I go back to the night window to make sure they know the other car belongs there and see if I can get another room key. Night window guy helps with both. Check out day the ish really hits the fan! I let the maid in as I'm taking bags to the car and go right back to do my final once over. By this time the maid has the bed stripped. Trying to avoid getting in her way I just ask her if we left any items in, on, under the bed? She says absolutely nothing. Okkkkk, guess not. Off to the office for check out. Surprise! it's the sourface, unhelpful, what does customer service have to do with me?, clerk dude from before. He walkie talkies the maid. I assume she will report that there is no damage to the room because that's the truth and I will get my $20 then be on my way. Nope. She says the room is too dirty. he then tells me I need to go CLEAN THE MOTEL ROOM before I can have my deposit. What!?! Ponder that. When I get back to the room mayyyybe 10 minutes have passed since I left the last time and it's completely clean! Where's the mess? The filth? The too dirty to get my deposit back? I knew it was b.s. anyway the only trash was 3 days worth of (I don't like letting maids in during stay) Styrofoam takeout containers, soda, water bottles most of which I had already put in the 2 bathroom sized trash cans in the room. Oh & 2 lunch meat packages that spoiled because the fridge in the room never got cold. See photo to judge the "filth" yourself. After not finding any mess then inquiring about what the cause of this ordeal was truly about. I was told that I needed to take the room's trash to the dumpster since she had already cleaned up too much mess. I never did take that trash out because sourface keep saying things like "shut up & just do what I tell you," and "I'm not your servant." By the end of this ridiculous ordeal sourface throws my $20 in my car window as I sit on hold with my credit card company's dispute department. And is so clueless in his audaciousness, that he actually says "Don't come back!" I still gave 2 stars because the room was clean and comfy for cheap and the nightwindow guy and maid we met on first day was nice.
