Quiet rooms, comfortable beds, ok WiFi. Inconsistent housekeeping, even when you request it. Room comes with canned water and tea and cookies but since housekeeping will skip your room more than half the days (even when you request it to be every day) you will not get the amenities everyday. There is a water filling station in the lobby. The restaurants and bar/lounge are ok.

Only missing a star cause the room was HOT hot. there was no air con which is normal in England…read morehowever the window could barely open because they were wired together so I couldn't get a proper breeze through the room. There was a fan left in the room but it only slightly helped. Besides that, staff was nice and restaurant was ideal for tea (dinner) and again in the morning for breakfast before we departed. It was a spacious area with table seating, lounging sofas and picnic tables out side for sunny days. Bar area didn't have one stool to sit at but more of a place to order from and depart to where you wanted to lounge afterwards.

Hannah, one of the hotel staff at the White Lion hotel, offered excellent service to me, and she is an asset to the hotel team. The inside is just what you would think in a 100+ year old building, small ceilings, old wood and live fire places. We sat on the patio and the ambiance is great for a nice evening with good weather. The beer selection is great, the gin and tonics are wonderful and the food was delicious. My review focuses on the vegan options which since I have been there have gotten even better!! They have many vegetarian and vegan food options. I had a chunky vegan soup and a spicy salad. Everything was wonderful. If im ever back in Tenterden I will most definitely come back here!!

Hempstead House Hotel & Restaurant

I had a work trip in the area and this hotel was the only one within an easy commute. While I'm not…read moresure I'd recommend for someone staying for a longer trip, Hempstead House is a fairly nice find for a shorter trip. Let's start with accommodations. The rooms are reasonably sized and the wifi (like the water pressure) is strong. I loved the shower and bath. As a guest, you also have access to the spa which is basically a pool, hot tub, and sauna. I had no use for the sauna as I stayed during the heat wave and unfortunately, my room did not have aircon. That poor little fan had no hope and this issue was probably my only concern over my stay. My rate included a great breakfast including hot and cold options. There is also another restaurant on site you can eat at. The breakfast was great while the other food options were average. I would recommend skipping the night the restaurant does Thai, however, given that there aren't a lot of other choices without a car, that might be difficult. Staff across the board was excellent. Lisa in the restaurant was so friendly. I didn't know what a lot of the standard British breakfast items were and not only was she patient with me, but made sure I gave everything at least a little try! The front desk staff and maids were also friendly and supportive. So, outside avoiding the house during a heatwave and maybe coming with a car, I would highly recommend repeating my Hempstead House stay.

ABode Canterbury

Ok, I had the pleasure of staying here a couple of nights. The first night (a Saturday and a lot…read moremore expensive) was paid for by the company and I paid for the second night. This place isn't cheap (averaging a £100 a night). The location, on Canterbury's high street, was excellent. My room was quite pleasant. The view (of a corrugated roof) wasn't exactly inspiring. Tea-making facilities are available in the room along with a few top-grade cookies and organic tea. The bed was comfortable but the height of it and the placement of the television (at a little over bed-height) when combined with my double chin made TV viewing a little uncomfortable. Poor planning. Breakfast was very nice. However, not without some problems. On the first day we went down at 10am expecting that half an hour would be plenty of time. Due to the slow service by the time our breakfast had arrived they had started clearing away the buffet items. My full English breakfast wasn't as full as it could have been. I only had one fried egg and there was no black pudding (kaszanka). Not that I am particularly fond of black pudding, but I would like to get some. I suspect I had been given someone else's break. Oh, the toast was burnt too. When I am staying in a classy hotel I expect them not to burn my toast. Breakfast on the second day was more agreeable, I arrived early to ensure I was able to take advantage of the buffet. The hotel's cocktail bar was very nice. The first night I had an egg nog and for a nightcap a banana rumba drink. Not cheap at ten pounds a shot. But, hey, I wasn't paying Checking out was a pain. The girl had trouble understanding that I wanted separate bills for each night's stay. I gave up in the end.

Plus, Patisserie Valeri across the street has some of the best pastries i've ever had. -The rooms were nice, a good size and modern. The beds were comfortable but a wee-bit narrow but nothing extreme. -The staff was O.K nothing to write home about but they are not very knowledgeable of the area but were fine overall -The restaurant looks like a complete waste of money but then again I didn't find the desire to eat there with so many options just down the street. All in all will stay there again when in canterbury
