Starting a year and a half ago we were essentially forced to use Cordua Catering due to an…read moreagreement with our wedding venue. We were very concerned because of Cordua's heavy South American influenced menu. My wife to be has a life threatening allergy to avocado and it seemed we couldn't hardly get away from it while looking at their menu. Marc Mann assured us that their kitchen staff was fully trained in allergy related food prep and anything and everything would be done to ensure no contamination. He also informed us that Cordua was a full house catering service and that they could prepare anything we wished, not just their set menu items. We proceeded but we were still wary of the allergy issue. We agreed upon a tasting menu and set a date. Marc met us at their Gessner location and we had lunch. The food of course was fabulous. All efforts had been made to ensure no contamination of avocado and we discussed the menu further. It became known to Cordua that my fiancé and I were VERY picky customers in addition to having an allergy complication. We knew exactly what we wanted, knew what quality food was and demanded the highest level of service. It was even noted in our paperwork internally for Cordua and their kitchen staff (Note: Very Picky Clients). We thought that was hysterical but we're glad they acknowledged and were making efforts to accommodate our pickiness. After one further concern about the allergy was expressed Al Deshon was brought into the conversation. He further assured us that with his personal oversight, our event would be attended to by his best staff. We were finally satisfied and pursued the contract. 6 passed canapés (2 of which were really rather more than a canapé) Three stations: Beef tenderloin and cracked potatoes with rolls Plantain crusted chicken sliders with roasted vegetables (like 6 veggies including green bean bundles) 3 different empanadas with walk away orange walnut salads Plantain chips and chimichurri All the service, ceramic plates, metal utensils, cloth napkins, cake service and all glassware for the bar. A final word on the food as quoted from one attendee... "this is not 'wedding food', this is 5 star restaurant food." I feel that says it all. We requested an additional server to attend to the bridal party alone. I cannot think of a more flawlessly executed event from their standpoint. The food was incredible, the professionalism of their staff was exemplary and the management of the services was without equal. Cordua rose to the very high bar we set and passed with flying colors. Every concern and special request we threw at them, they found a way to surpass our expectations. Special fold of napkins on the table, adding an additional server for the bridal party, use of some plating options they'd not previously offered, etc. Marc and Al were on site almost all night at our event. We never expected that. We will be recommending Cordua to anyone and everyone we can. Thank you Marc and Al, and a special thanks to Leo the attendant who was dedicated to Natalie and I the night of our wedding. There's a difference between receiving catering and being catered to. We felt catered to all night and it was fabulous. Thanks Leo!

People have the right to give an honest opinion about a business doesn't matter when they decide to do it. But it's up to the person in business to see the mistake, learn, move on, and do better next time. If you are as good as who said to be and and are confident in simply who you are in the business. This review should make no different but just rather another opinion. but here we goes again. It is true. Business owners have the right to decline business. But .... There was multiple conversations about where the venue. Mostly was to be sure that she was ok with how far the venue is. That was already being put up front. Even on the initial phone conversation. The venue was never being unknown. So have she know? She should have already know rather. If she missed the first time. Then she should have ask before being ok with giving a tasting. Then saying she can't do it because she cannot accommodate due the size of the parties & location of the venue. I don't complain about the foods or the amount of food. We even give extra money as top seeing her work and driving out late. But ok. So Guess what I have a right to speak about my experience. Overall, nope. I called Chef Lucy to discuss catering a wedding with only two months notice. My experience with her has been excellent! She has been so helpful in making suggestions that have helped guide us toward accomplishing our vision, while helping to keep us within our budget. She has provided us with wonderful cost cutting suggestions which I greatly appreciate. Chef Lucy has responded very quickly to every email and text. It is a tremendous help in planning when someone responds to you quickly. She has gone out of her way and provided a great deal of her time to help us and to guide us. I personally know some of the people who call upon Chef Lucy for their catering needs. This is most impressive as I know these are people who require the highest level of food excellence and service and will settle for nothing less. Chef Lucy has been extremely professional yet friendly and warm at the same time. She has a very giving and caring spirit. I can tell by our conversations that she definitely knows her business! I am a small business owner myself. I fully understand the challenges that every small business owner faces in this ever-changing economy. It is not easy! I am looking forward to working with Chef Lucy. I believe she will provide a reception for the wedding that is going to be nothing less than spectacular! I will post another review after our event. I fully expect that it will be even more positive than this review. Sincerely, Donna Speer

So this is part of the reason that holding an event at Rockefeller Hall is soo expensive. You must…read moreuse their caterer. Apparently, they used to not have a required caterer, but they had trouble maintaining the quality of events so they have an exclusive relationship with Abuso now. For your standard dinner party, the cheapest option at under $30/adult includes one entre, two side dishes, one salad, bread, peach iced tea and coffee. Serviceware, silverware, china, and kitchen staff are also included. Additional entrees and hors d'oeuvres are extra per person. We had enough vegetarians that we definitely wanted a non-meat option. And we just wanted hors d'oeuvres so people wouldn't get hungry waiting for the dinner buffet. They do have a meat-carving station option which could be easily combined with "make your own pasta" station, but we worried people would be standing in line especially at the meat-carving station waiting a while. They also have a hors d'oeuvres-only menu (fiance was not a fan) and a Sunday brunch menu (a cheaper option, but not cheaper than Dharma Cafe). All of this info was given to us when we considered Rockefeller. We met with Kitty 3 months before the event and had a free lunch tasting (up to 4!) with Cami in which we tried out our menu. Cami came to our final meeting with Rockefeller for our reception schedule and final head counts. Jillian worked the reception. They were very professional, friendly, and attentive. We made changes to our menu after the tasting. Cami offered to prepare my fiance's & my dinner plates for maximum efficiency and to draw us away from guests so we could eat. Jillian brought the last of the hors d'oeuvres to our sweetheart table so we could have a bite of them if we hadn't already. The food was excellent and they wrapped up leftovers in large foil containers for my family to take home and wrapped up extra dinner plates (on their plates & included a fork!) for my new husband and me so we could eat leftovers later. Our menu was delish: chicken satay, spicy beef empanadas, brie in puff pastry hors d'oeuvres; chicken crepes and orecchiette pasta provencal entrees; spinach salad, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans almondine, and bread. A little more salt than I'm used to eating, but it was all good and a lot of the guests told our parents they loved it. My parents were upset that for the money we spent, we weren't really getting any special meets like beef and fish, and they could have made Asian food, but it would have cost a lot extra. I was still very happy overall with the food and the service and would consider them for future events, maybe when I actually start earning money and can throw lavish soirees.

I noticed the invoice came back as 5 guests more than we asked for. So I email Maria back asked her to correct it. She said ok but I never received the updated invoice. I asked for a refund for the over charge. I was told the appetizers' count can not be changed. We end up getting only 5 meals and bar without taxes and gratuities. Now not only I don't get my money for the extra appetizers. I don't even get my taxes and gratuities? Why? We paid taxes and gratuity on everything. As an accountant I can assure you this is not how you do invoice. So I chase many times before and after the wedding for what's rightfully mine. Half month later I finally heard from Maria. And was told that because of her her mistake that I will not be refunded the correct amount. She already refund be me once ( eventhough it's not the right amount) her owner will not allow for a second refund. It's not much moneywise but it's the dishonorable practice that deep offended me. Pretty much after they got our money the email response slowed down. Fair warning to those that working with them or thinking about it. Look at your invoice very carefully. Because you maybe be charged extra unexpectedly.
